My recent saves are just GONE!

Hi. I had an issue where Origin wouldn't open TS4, so, as per instruction, I moved my Sims 4 folder out of the EA folder, reloaded the game, which created a new Sims 4 folder, and put my saves & only a few mods back. But when I open the game, my recent saves are not there; my saves from 2017 are, but none from this year, and all of the Household preview-things for saved games are greyed out!

I spent SO MUCH time making the perfect household, which I uploaded to the Gallery, but now My creations in My Gallery is empty, even though I had A TON of stuff. I'm sad. Please help me.

You need to remove the new tray folder that is in the new sims 4 folder, and copy/paste the old tray folder that is in the old sims 4 folder, into the new sims folder. Your tray folder holds the files of all your library items. That is why your library is empty, as you haven’t put back your tray folder.
Try doing the same thing with your saves folder if you haven’t done this ( and if your old saves are still in the old saves folder ) . Move the new saves folder out of the new sims 4 folder, and copy/paste the old saves folder into the new sims 4 folder.

I thought that would fix my problem, but it didn't.

All of my save slot previews are silhouettes still AND none are from this year. I'm devastated!

Are your old save game files still in your saves folder?

If the save game files are still there , try rolling back your save game file to an earlier version. These links explain how to do that.

Move the .save version of the save game file that you want to roll back , to the desktop. It will have the date when you were last playing. Then remove the .ver0 from the ending of the save game file that is the same slot number as that save file . It should now just end in .save.
Then launch the game, press the load button and see if the save game is there.

For some reason, I can't find any save files from 2018! I don't know what to do! And, of course, I didn't create backups because I assumed the game knew 🐸🐸🐸🐸 it was doing. I'm seriously going to cry. Also, for some reason, I noticed BEFORE this issue that sometimes when I saved something to my Gallery, it still doesn't show up in there. So now I don't even have that one perfect sim.

I'm going to set myself on fire.

Please though don’t do anything to hurt yourself. You and your life are much, much more precious and special than a save game. Please take care of yourself. You are very special to your family and friends, who would not at all want you to harm yourself.

Do you use One Drive? If you do it could be causing this issue, Try seeing if there is a sims 4 folder with a saves or /and tray folder in One Drive . The game may be using that saves folder instead of the one in Documents -Electronic Arts -sims 4 folder . One Drive can cause issues,

If you don’t use One Drive, try using the search bar on your computer , and search to see if there may be another saves folder on your computer that the game is using instead of the one directly in the sims 4 folder.

Oh, Lord! I was only kidding; trust me, if I was going to off myself, using my body as kindling would be the last way I'd do it! Thanks for the concern, though.

Of course I don't use OneDrive; I don't use anything to keep my files safe. I'm a bloody genius. Actually, I'm a bit paranoid about my stuff getting into the wrong hands or being used by the government. I'm 2 years older than the Millennial generation & I don't trust the internet.

Thank you for trying to help me! I'll look for more save files, and if it doesn't work, I'll just remake my sim. Pretty upset that the lot I built is gone, though. This has been a rough few days & I just. wanted. to. make. a. stripper. and now I can't even do that!! GARRAUGHH!

I am sorry that this has happened

The tray folder holds all your files of the items that you have saved to your library, so check to see if the files are still in the tray folder. If they are there, then check to make sure that you have ticked the "include custom content" box that is in the advanced section of the filter in the Gallery. Items may not show up in the gallery/your library if that isn’t ticked.

I had that once, it was because I had moved the "sims 4" folder out of the "electronic arts" folder and there was a new copy of my game with no saves. So I deleted the new copy and replaced it with the old one.
