No matter how many times I tried to look for it on google or bing, or even on youtube, I cannot find the resource.cfg download anywhere. Could someone please link it to me I have been searching for hours :L.
Just unzip to your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder. Everything should be in place (the Mods folder with the Resource.cfg file and 2 subfolders, Packages and Overrides). The download includes 2 test mods (nointromovies and nobuildmodesparkles) to test your installation of the framework.
The file is also available on the NRaas site, although I don't have a direct link to it. I think it's the same one as in the framework.
I want to download in-game mods, like MCCC, But I do not know why it will not work, I am also not sure if it has anything to do with Reasorce.cfg. I have it though.

However you choose to set it up, the structure should look exactly like the illustrations shown except for differences around the edges due to different operating systems.
I'm having the same problem. I can't locate my file anywhere. I even tried game repair, and removing my files over to the desktop to regenerate a new sims 3 folder. Any suggestions?
@bluzkat65 - The Resource.cfg file that was being discussed here is part of what is needed to run mods and other kinds of package file based content in TS3. The game does not come with a Mods folder, the player needs to add in the Framework (three folders nested correctly plus the required Resource.cfg file in the correct place). Repairing the game and generating a new TS3 user game folder aren't going to do this, actually the latter would undo it all since the newly spawned game folder would not be accounting for mods.
If you really want a standalone Resource.cfg file, we still offer one at NRaas but it's just that we've moved to our new site since this thread was active years ago.

@thislittlesimmer, is MCCC a Sims 4 mod? I only ask of this because you're asking about it in a thread for The Sims 3 mods. So if it s a TS4 mod, then you nedd to ask about it over in the TS4 section...

Here is a link for a thread for MCCC that might be able to help you in installing mods for TS4.

Required Framework for package based content to work in TS3 (mods are always package based):

Standalone Resource.cfg file (but you need the Framework set up properly for this to do anything):

This page has not changed. The downloadable Framework from here contains everything you need, the procedure is to download it someplace else, unzip, and place the Mods folder with its contents into your TS3 user game folder in Documents.
