@rosemow I hate to sound like a stereotypical blonde and I'm honestly not sure where else to put this, but how do I add a profile picture? Also, it says that I don't have permission to add a signature? I'm confused...

    Hello @everthewildeone :)
You need to have 50 points and 30 posts before you can become a full member and can then change your profile picture , post pictures, have a signature, start new threads, edit posts , post links that show up correctly, and have quotes appear in grey boxes , This thread explains about it.

You have the required number of posts, but need more points.

    Hi all <waves>

I'm Cave Johnson, (well not really, he's from another game!) and I've been simming since Sims 2. I took my laptop to university and while I did ok my little Sims did VERY well!

I took advantage of Black Friday to buy Sims 4 and I don't think I have stopped playing since. I love building houses and playing generations - I'm a sad sack and play nice, always. I have loads of lots on the Gallery under this name.

Looking forward to having enough points/posts to be able to properly contribute to some competitions :)

Hello @CaveJohnson82 :) It is nice to meet you. Welcome to the forums!
It is nice that you have been simming since Sims 2. You would have enjoyed playing many households over the time and enjoyed watching the sims growing up in your game.
It was great that you were able to purchase Sims 4 at a good price during the Black Friday Sales! Building is a very enjoyable part of simming! It is nice that we can enjoy designing and building homes in a variety of types, architectural styles and theme. It is special seeing our sims living in homes that we have built for them. It is very nice that you share your creations on the Gallery for other simmers to also enjoy having in their games.
    Happy simming! :)

30 posts? That's a lot of posts. I remember when I last started a SimLit here six years ago and how enjoyable it was to start a story of my own like that without pressure or prerequisites. That's the main reason why I returned here in the first place, to immediately start another SimLit of my own, but I guess I can't do that for some time (I do have 40 points though from the list of "anniversary badges" I have for being an 8 year old member).

Anyway, just dropped by to say hi. It's been a while since I've been here, and I didn't say hi the first time. I've been playing The Sims on and off since the first Sims. I remember when I first started, one of my dad's friends laughed off my interest in Sims games as they're not "real games". lol He introduced me to other fun games though, so I can't fault him too much. After getting into those other games, I bounced back into Sims 2 a few years later, then 3 and now 4. I could never really stay interested in the Sims games for long, especially when I'm preoccupied by other things in life, but there's always something relaxing about the series that brought me back every now and then. There's no competition to be won, no high score to beat; it's all very casual and fun, and I liked my Sims games that way.

A little info about myself. I'm a 27 year old Chinese from Singapore. I enjoy movies (a big film buff I am) and, on some level, storytelling. I love "Choose Your Own Adventure" games because of my love for storytelling, because they made me felt like I'm a co-creator who is contributing to how the story would go. It's why I love games that offer you choices like the Mass Effect series and the Dragon Age series (the first two games anyway) by Bioware. And of course, The Sims games, where I could practically play god and tell stories with my Sims.

I've tried my hands on writing on and off, but it never stuck with me because I always got distracted, or just never got motivated enough by my mediocre writing skills. My first and only thread here, a SimLit, died off shortly after I started it, much like my many abandoned writing in the past. It's always hard to stay interested in my own works, because I always felt they were never good enough, and I would move on to something more engaging and rewarding (the latter of which, by the way, can be difficult with Sims games because they don't have an obvious reward system, like earning a high score or unlocking cool weapons).

I've tried many other things in my life to keep me engaged over the past six years; reviewing movies, losing myself in video games, reading visual novels, watching anime, and I even ran a room on Plug.DJ that plays exclusively movie/TV soundtracks not too long ago that kinda died off. None of those activities stuck for long, nor were they really fulfilling. And now, I'm back in the Sims game once again. Not sure how long I'll stick around this time either.

In case you didn't notice, I'm (sometimes) a fan of writing lengthy posts. I tend to ramble a lot too, even when I'm writing, so pardon me.

Let's see, what else didn't I cover? My favorite movies. I love Pixar movies. I also love thrillers, especially those with a cool twist that boggles your mind. My top 5 favorite films are Toy Story 2 and 3, Casino Royale, The Prince of Egypt (amazing animation, that one; check it out if you haven't), and Spider-Man 2. I don't watch a lot of TV shows as I don't have the time (or attention span) for them, but I did enjoy Sherlock, House M.D., and Dexter. My favorite music consists of fast-paced music like Blue Stahli and The Prodigy.

That's about it for now. Might hop around the forum, see what other conversations I could join, if any.

Hello @OminousFlare :) It is nice to meet you. Welcome back to the forums!
It is great that you have returned to Simming and are planning to write a SimLit story on the forums. When you become a full member and can start a new thread for the story , Simmers will enjoy reading it and seeing pictures of the sims in your game.
It was very nice reading about a bit about you, what you like, and what you have been doing over the last six years.
I hope that you will enjoy reading the forum threads and posting about your own simming experiences on the posts.
    Happy simming! :)

I don't think I replied to that post the right way but I'm still learning. ^_^"
I'm here to make friends so that I may have some fellow Sim-erds (Sim Nerds) to chat, and trade lots and rooms with. I share my account and game with my daughter. She's more into the actually game play where as I am more into using my creativity to design lots and houses. I went through the process of creating a family once since we've had this game. I must say it's a bit intimidating having so many ways to customize the characters. When I was a kid the choices were pretty limited compared to the vast options there are today. That and the game is sooo much more expensive. Though I know that's partly due to inflation. We only have the pet expansion pack that I bought my daughter for her 9th birthday since it was on sale during the holidays. I am interested in buying the (I think its called) Date Night expansion. I'm curious to see if it's anything like the Hot Date expansion that came out after Sims 1 I think. That was one of my favorite because you could call up a sim, ask them out, take a cab and explore different areas, stores, and do date night things like go out to dinner, hit a dance club, and then go out for ice cream before heading home.

    A little about me:

If you're referring to the weird > arrows that appeared in your reply to me, don't worry; I think that's a result of you being a new member and not being able to use the bbcode for quoting other users (like I'm doing). After you hit 50 points and 30 posts, you'll be able to quote normally like I do, and those arrows won't exist anymore.

It is very expensive, and I could barely fork out the hundreds of dollars for all the EPs and packs. It's crazy. I mean, these games cost more than any triple-A Game of the Year Collector's Edition that you could find. I doubt even the Mass Effect: Andromeda collection was this expensive. lol

That being said, it is a lot of content, so I guess it is, as they say, getting your money's worth.

Hello @Pirate :) It is nice to meet you. Welcome to the forums!
It is very special that both you and your daughter are simmers <3 You would enjoy chatting together about the Sims, and talking about the sims that you are playing and the builds that you design and build. It is great that you own the Pets ep. It is fun having pets as part of the households of our sims !
There isn’t a Sims 4 Date Night Pack. Perhaps you are thinking about Get Together ep?

I'm new to the sims forums and fairly new to sims since I've only been playing for about one and a half years but I find myself using these forums so much that I just decided to make an account lol.

    here's a little about me:
    - I'm a rotational player
    - but I love love love giving my townies makeovers and building
    - cats and dogs or gt is probably my favorite expansion
    - I'm obsessed with netflix
    - ben and jerry's ice cream is honestly the best kind there is
    - I'm a really chill person I'd say

also question- how do you find forums that are currently active and being used? thanks!

Hello @lanasimmer :) It is nice to meet you. Welcome to posting on the forums!
It nice that you are a rotational player. You would enjoy playing the different families in your game.
It is great that you enjoy doing makeovers of townies. It would add extra specialness to your game as your sims meet up with them in the world.
Cats and Dogs is a great ep! It is enjoyable having cats and dogs as a part of our sims household!
If you click on threads and start reading the thread , you can look at the date and time of the last post in the thread, and this will tell you if simmers are still posting on the thread.
    Happy simming! :)

Hi everyone, my name is Heather and I have been playing the Sims from the start. I have an update/patch problem and am upset that I cannot post in the discussion area to help get it solved.

My loading music wont stop playing. I can barely hear normal game play noises in the background. The loading music is sped up and is extremely loud. I read somewhere that if you turn off lessons in origin that could help, I did, it didn't. Does anyone know of anything else that could help me. I'd like to be able to play my game.

Hello @H3ath3rlynn :) It is nice to meet you. Welcome to the forums!

The issue is usually fixed by coming completely out of the game, right back to the desktop. Then reloading the game again.

If the issues still remain when you reload the game , repairing the game may help. To do that, go to games library in Origin, right click on the sims 4 picture and click repair

Thank you, I'll try to repair it now. I have been dealing with this since the latest patch and refuse to play my game like that. I'll let you know if it helps!

That didn't help. :( Anything else you know of that I can try? It literally happens every single time I go to play, I even tried going to different lots to see if the loading there would help but no luck.

    Hello
I am sorry that you are having these issues

Try resetting your sims 4 folder, starting a new save game file, and testing to see if it occurs there also . To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated.
Start a new game and test to see if the issue is in that new save game.
Exit the game and then copy back the "options.ini" or "options" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders from the desktop sims 4 folder to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders from the desktop sims 4 folder.

You can also try going to game options, and try altering the audio settings

I've been playing the Sims since the beginning. My cousin had the game and she let my mom play. My mom told me about how much fun it was so I asked for it as a Christmas gift. Been hooked ever since. My favorite expansions have been any pets expansion, The Sims 2: University, and The Sims: Makin' Magic. I didn't care for Sims 3, but I did like the horses features in their pet expansion.

It is nice that you have been simming since the release of the original sims one. It is very special that your cousin introduced your Mother to the game <3 It is very nice that as a result of your Mother enjoying playing the game, it resulted in you asking and receiving the Sims as a Christmas gift, and so started your simming journey as a Simmer!
The Pets packs are great! It is enjoyable having pets as part of our sims’ households! It is very nice seeing the interactions between sims and their pets.
    Happy simming! :)
