So, um... I have 105 points, 34 comments, and have now been a member for at least 24 hours and still have the rank of a new member... is there something I'm missing?

@Novasi, try logging out of the account and back in to see if the change takes place. If not, then you might have to wait until later or tomorrow to try it again...

Hello @Novasi
Try logging completely out of the site. Then log back in again and see if that shows you then as a full member,
Not asking this for myself obviously, but I wonder what the policy is for non members or new members when they bump into a problem and come here to ask advice. They obviously can't start a topic of their own because they'll have the new member status, so they often use an already existing topic for that (they probably found when looking for a solution). What happens however is that when they do, lately those topics are closed immediately due to "necro'ing". Latest example is this post in the TS3 section. There is no way for this simmer now to come back to this issue. Only a suggestion was given, but quite often solutions take a bit of brainstorming and exchanging options and ideas (I actually experienced myself at several occasions).
Is there a way for new members to ask advice when they have a problem? And if so, maybe that option could be added in the post explaining why the topic is closed? (not referring to useless bumping obviously; just actual, genuine questions)

@rosemow Thanks, that's exactly what I was wondering! Good there is such a topic for each game. I can imagine though that new members won't necessarily find that topic in the 'jungle' of an unfamilar forum (especially such an extensive one). So I'd like to repeat my suggestion to add those links in the post that tells them the topic gets closed.
I'm actually glad that @JoAnne65 asked this question. Of course I am aware of the threads for New Members since I keep directing users there and try to help by answering where I can, but those are (or at least the one for TS3 is) meant to be for technical issues. Not so much in-game questions like "My sims come out of the shower with the wrong hair, what am I doing wrong?" or "How do I get the quality of my sims' autumn salads to be better?" and things like that.
I've had at least one of my answers to necro'ed but valid looking non-tech questions zapped away together with the questions themselves when the thread got locked up and started just not answering them anymore. To be fair, one of them was a little strange though I don't recall it being that strange. But just not answering the questions doesn't seem like the right thing to do either if we are trying to be helpful. Maybe we could use a bit more guidance as to if or how we should respond to these threads when they do pop up on the GD and Expansions boards?
Rosemow:
First, I'd like to say that my awareness means that I am not crazy!! I know that you know this whether you are allowed to admit or not. That being said, I have a serious issue.
I had to delete games approximately a year ago because my Sims claimed that they did not need me and I could not access my neighborhood anymore. When that happens all of that outside stuff disappears. However, they are still here and invading PC games that are not Sim related. They have removed some of the normal functions in my laptop and are hiding in my cloud account (that I no longer have access to because of them).
One laptop has already crashed and this one is under three years old. Please remove the sound files that are not part of in-game and/or in-neighborhood play.

Hello @hunniboo1
The off topic section is a good place to post if you would like to post and become a full member. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/off-topic-chat
You will soon get the required points and posts if you also post about your simming experiences on threads that you are interested in the thread topics.
Reading and posting on threads in the Stories and Legacies section is great. The simmers there would appreciate your feedback on their Stories and their legacies.

Hello @JoAnne65
There are two threads that have been created for Sims 3 and Sims 4 users who have game issues and are unable to start a new thread because they are a new member. They are welcome to post about game issues in these threads.

Hello @judeareenn .
There used to be a lol button but it is no longer here. It was being misused, so the lol option was removed.
