New to CC - any tips? :)

Hi!

I've never downloaded CC for Sims 4, but I've heard you can get issues with the game because of the CC. Like viruses, bugs etc. True?

Can anyone recommend a page with safe and free CC for CAS?

And I would love a walkthrough on how to download it and add it to the game.
If anyone will advice me against it, I would appreciate you giving me reasons why I should avoid it. I don't know anything about it and I will not download anything if it will corrupt my gaming in any way.

Hello @plau! How exciting that you want to try using CC. There is a great tutorial that teaches about Mods and CC and how to add them to your game: https://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/08/mods-and-downloads/

Basically, if you have a good anti-virus program you should be fine.

However, I would suggest avoiding sites that offer their CC behind adfly and shorte.st, those sites have a ton of pop-up adds and can be confusing. If you do choose to use them never click on the add (even if it says you need to update software or that they are from Microsoft) exit out of those. The base adfly/shorte.st page with have a 5 sec countdown in the top right corner. After the 5 sec are up you will have the option to skip add, this should take you to the download page. But, it can also bring up more pop-ups and a second countdown page. Adfly/Shorte.st is a lot of hoops to jump through.

thesimsresource has a very large cc catalog, and everything there is high quality. I've been using this site for years, for both Sims 3 and 4, and it never gave me bugs or viruses. But in general I think the best thing to do to avoid such things is to steer clear of old/outdated cc and shady-looking cc makers

Also don't pay for cc. You may or may not get rid of it after seeing how it looks on your sims then it will just seem like a waste of money.

Another thing to note; a site is safe if it has a padlock or says "https" that means it's secure.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

Since I posted my question I've googled a lot, figured out how and what to download when it comes to CC and mods. But. My game is just a mess now. I keep getting these error message from MCCC, and I've tried everything trying to sort out which one of the mods (the CC is good) is making this happen. But I've gone through everything, tried one and one mod, and each one seems ok, but then I put them all together and then the error message starts again. Just keeps coming. Tried reading the lastException files for answers but I'm so tired of this so I'm just gonna delete every mod I've downloaded and try again, just be a little smarter this time

So, does anyone have a safe page I can go to to download mods that are not damaged or outdated? How do I know? Cause I figured that is the reason my game keeps nagging me to fix it..

I will now download only one at a time. I've learned my lesson. Spent all christmas being a naggy plum because of this :P LOL. So appreciate any help.

Make sure when you click download that it is not a pop up, they’re usually a green button and say start download. The best website is linked here: thesimsresource.com - I’ve been using this site for atleast 2 years now and has never disappointed me, yes it does have ads on it, but you can get adblockers.
