Adoption Agent

So I just watched a Let's Play and realized that when you adopt a pet, an adoption agent comes to your home and there is an adoption evaluation.

Okay, so WHY doesn't an adoption specialist or Sim Social Services not come to your house when you have neglected your child or when you adopt a child ??

I find it highly unrealistic how a sim disappears to go adopt a child and then simply returns with the child.

It's also unrealistic that children get "wisked" away and poof they are gone into thin air when you neglect your child.

Bring back the Sims 2 version where Sim SOCIAL SERVICES come to your house and delivers your adopted child and they COME to your house when you neglect your child to take them away.

Ugh! Let me not get started on how the Vet career is 10x better than the doctor Career. Like where were the people that were creating Pets at when Get to Work and the base game was being created ? Geeze.

The game has evolved with time and new concepts. There is a vet skill and your SIM can own a business using said skill. Unfortunately, the SIM is still considered unemployed so I would not consider it a job. They get to work careers were different in their own way. From what I have seen through gameplay, the vet skill is used kind of like the dine out model.

In many places, irl, you go to an through an agency to adopt a child. The social service aspect Only involves foster homes and care(temporary home). At 'least where I live, the adoption agency is not always with social services. It involves more paperwork and meeting outside the home, which is just what I imagine the SIM doing. You would not get a home visit with them just bringing a child from an international adoption.

As for pets, many agencies require a home visit where they bring the animal and observe. I know that was a requirement of the avian adoptions I have done (4 of my 6 birds are adopted). Same thing for my parents who adopted dogs.

I think the game is generalizing the processes to match more on a global scale.

Well in real life, I'm pretty sure they don't bring you your baby when you adopt, usually you have to go to them. However, I agree that someone should appear to take the baby away when it's neglected.

Adoption evaluations are a real thing for pets though. Not every shelter/rescue does one, however there are those who do. When we adopted our dogs, they didn't do a home check. They did do one when we started fostering does, however.

Nice observation @NorthDakotaGamer but I work in social services and in fact i have created a social services career mod on MTS that has more than 8,000 current downloads so it is even more reason why I am so frustrated that there is no social service sim coming to your home ESPECIALLY when there is neglect.

@PolluxSims In the sims 2, social services brought the adopted child to the home.

In RL social services can transport a foster child to your home and you can eventually adopt the child depending on the case. Either way, if it's social services or an adoption agency, SOMEONE comes to your home to evaluate your home and the appropriateness of your home & living situation.

Sometimes agencies will bring a child and do what's called a trial home visit.

Either way, I think a social service sim shouldn't come into sim homes for neglect ans adoptions.

I am not too trusting of social services IRL. Just from certain cases that happened within my area personally and to IRL friends, so I am ok if they never really create a SIM for that role. It may frustrate you, but many others also have a negative association with that IRL. I am sure EA did not want people to associate negatively with them in game as well.

@NorthDakotaGamer I don't think negative association was the reason why they were not implemented as NPC sims

Because if that's were the case they wouldn't have implemented npc social service in sims 2 or 3

I don't mind the sim leaving to get the adopted child but the whisking away a child for neglect is just way too weird and annoying. I want to see a sim come and take the child because of neglect..

Not only did the Sim SOCIAL SERVICES come to your house, for neglected children, but the children were then added to the adoption poole, so they could be adopted by another sim household, instead of being deleted from the game, that was more realistic and I would love that back in The Sims 4

The "adoption evaluation" seems to be more to be for the sim to evaluate the pet they want to adopt. The "adoption agent" comes with up to three pets (if there are that many slots in the household. So if the household already has four people and two pets, you can only meet two new pets at a time. Annoying, since you can't see their traits until you meet them, but if you want to choose rather than take any chance, you can use CAP anyway, so I guess it makes some sense.)

If use MC Command Center there's an "adopt neglected child" setting.

    i totally agree, op.

and on top of what you've said i feel like there should actually be an evaluation. with adopting a kid you should need some stuff specific to age like a crib or a bed and potty. and with pets i feel like a sim should also need a bowl and toys and whatever, there needs to be some more feedback and realness to npcs.

this is taking me back to sims2 and the principal- i LOVED that npc and the house evaluation he gave, something like this is what sims4 is sorely lacking in my humble opinion.

sims4 needs social workers and burglars and firefighters and policemen and they need to feel real.
    simming on through.

@Maggiedoll Yes I actually already use this setting with MCCC and it adds realism. I pretend those sims are foster parents

This has been a problem in TS4 for too long.

The lack of social worker for babies has been one of the criticised points of TS4. Children babies and toddlers just poof out of nothing when they are neglected in a rainbow cloud.

Babies in this game have been neglected to such a big extend I just can't comprehend. Babies need to be freed from the 🐸🐸🐸🐸 bassinets, we need to be able to change their clothing, and we need more babie objects.

I think that when you adopt a child there should be a social worker to evaluate the living conditions, and if the child isn't taken cared of then the child should be taken away. Like they normally if you don't feed the child.
