Your WIP is looking very nice! @KojiK Very nice layout of the home! The wraparound porch and the roofing looks great! It looks very nice the way the plants, trees and flowers have been placed in the front garden! The corner shaped plant /tree features look great !
@reanseih cool intricate build! I would suggest 3 colours because of how many parts there are, although I usually almost never go above 2 myself for exterior but I also haven't build something that intricate. Definitely a stone wall to accent the most distinct sections. For the others it is hard to tell because I can't quite imagine it in my mind. Maybe wooden siding for the least distinct sections. Actually maybe 2 colours is enough. The roofing is so complex you don't want to overwhelm with too many I feel. So maybe just a simple wooden siding and a stone pattern. I feel earth tones might work well too. Definitely a lighter colour for the siding and a darker for the stone. Even just white siding might work, to allow a nice dramatic contrast with the roof. Whereas the darker stone could blend with the roof more.
On another note, please forgive me if I overstep in suggestions, but I would also choose a much smaller tree in the front. The huge one in the middle I feel just blocks and draws attention away from the awesome house very cool overall!!
@kojik Cozy looking house! The only suggestion I would have would be to use shift to decrease the extension of the right side of the frontmost curved gable roof (not sure what it is called, but it's those smaller arrows that control how far the sides of the roof extend). That way it blends in with the hipped roof over the entrance but you still keep the cool extended roof on the left side (where there is no roof collision)
In keeping with my pattern of trying new build styles for each build, I took a break from Mediterranean to attempt another starter (feeling starters right now, no idea why haha). This one is in the Brindleton style of Cape Cod. Although I don't actually have the new expansion haha, so I couldn't use shingles wallpaper, etc. So not certain how close I got to the style of that area.
But it definitely is the absolute coolest roofing I have ever done on a build. All the roof sections flowed so well together, but I guess that makes sense since the Cape Cod style does seem to emphasise huge roof parts.
So far budgeting is working better than the Oasis house as well haha.
Also if anyone would be able to do me a favour since I do not have the latest expansion yet. I'm wondering if anyone could take pictures of the 1 or 2 least expensive empty lots in Brindleton for me. That way I could match the landscaping and lot size with one of the empty lots so people could utilise this build in the new expansion Thank you in advance!
Your Cape Cod Style Starter looks very nice! @Nore Very nice roofing area ! The curved roof covered porches and upper balconies look very nice! It is great that there is a pond in the build .The chimney is a nice touch, The exterior design of the home is very nice!
The Oasis Springs Home WIP is looking very nice! @BlueShreve Very nice design of the exterior which suits the world well. The terracotta awnings are a nice touch over the front entrance. It is nice that there is a pool in the front courtyard. The archway front entrance is welcoming. The basement alien plants and Sixam portal garden is great!
Decided to ditch the idea of another starter with the Cape Cod/Hamptons style house haha. Instead I decided to make it my holidays project. I had intended to do a build for the holiday theme and this seems like a good choice as it already has a very cottage feel.
My goal was to keep true to the Cape Cod style and create a house that is decorated for the holiday rather than a "Christmas House" or one that could only work in some Winter Wonderland haha. So I started by toning down some of the fancier parts of the base house, using simpler spandrels and friezes.
Then I did a few outer decorations and tried to mimic partially melted snow, but it was quite hard without the snow terrain haha. Anyway any advice is always welcome I'm debating deleting my pathetic attempt to create my own unique Christmas Tree haha, it turned out quite unsightly and might just replace it with the in-game white tree enlarged.
Your Cape Cod Style home WIP decorated for Christmas is looking very nice! @Nore :; Very nice design of the exterior! The roofing and upper balcony looks very nice! The reindeers are a special festive touch on the roof! Very nice curved porch outdoors living area! Sims will enjoy sitting at the festive table having a drink from the bar in the outdoors air and looking at the pretty silvery Christmas tree. The string lights look very pretty in the outdoors areas! The white flowers look nice either sides of the front entrance. The design of the Chrisrnas tree feature looks very great! The snow in the trees in the build looks great! Very nice art nook area in the backyard. It is a nice touch that an umbrella is over the top of the easel .
The build is looking very nice!
@lisalittlesimmer Sorry for the delay in responding, just got back and been answering all the messages haha. I used a snowman looking item from Spa Day. I forget what it is called, but you should be able to see it easily from the filters. It is not an item from showhiddenitems code
Btw, I finally finished my French Baroque house haha, not sure if you saw. It took forever to figure out the pathing. Now that I'm done though, after working on the new lot, I kind of want to go back and decorate the French Baroque house for the Christmas holiday haha. Christmas in Paris is so amazing I shouldn't do that though haha, the French Baroque house already has waaaay too much clutter haha.
Anyway here's a link in case you wanted to see it When Baroque Met Modern
@rosemow Thank you Been working on it a lot and going to link it in the newest creations thread. So many new features you'll like
@Nore You've been really creative in making up those Christmas decorations! I'm impressed. The tree doesn't look so bad. I think if you manage to spread the ornaments all over it and not make a straight vertical line with some of them, it could look great. Don't give up, it's nice to see some different decorations. (Might I suggest removing the lower-hanging string of lights in the entrance, though? It looks like Sims would get caught in it.)
@lisalittlesimmer Thank you haha. I decided maybe to not do so, however, as there is already so many items and clutter in that build haha. Sorry for pointing it out when you already saw it btw haha. If I recall you commented on it specifically on my wall or showcase thread so I remembered and wanted to let you know in case you hadn't seen it
Thanks for the advice! I managed to follow your advice and cluttered the tree with less organised decor. I also removed the string you mentioned haha. I had actually been wondering about that for a while, but I kind of liked how the two hanging strings looked together. But I'm glad you mentioned it as it definitely looks more authentic now because who would put a string so low right over the entrance so everyone can get tangled on their way in haha! Thank you again for the wonderful advice.
I am going to link new pictures on the Newest Creations thread if you wanted to see how it looks now
Currently working on a bakery build for my rebuilt of B.B but I am totally STUCK on the roofing, I've done the one (EZ) side but I have no clue on the left side 'cause the shape is odd! any suggestions?
@Rumpelstiltskin No worries haha, there's no rush! No need to apologise at all! Btw, I forgot to ask were you interested in a roof style that matched brindleton's theme or anything that looked decent haha?
@Nore DW I think I've figured it out! I'll try finish it up today and I'll post it on my showcase thread when I do that, you should let me know what you think of the roofing/any changes if you think they're needed!
My new project: a - somehow - working Lighthouse :
The lamp is challenging: this is how it looks at this state from the sea by night. I'm looking for a way to extract and copy the rotating beam effect from the lighthouse on the island. That would be nice.
A more detailed view of the lamp:
Daylight views:
As you might guess it's based on the 'Bedlington Boathouse' in Cavalier Cove/Brindleton Bay.
In the end it will be the 'Bedlingtion Lighthouse'.

Your Lighthouse WIP is looking very great! @Bonxie Very nice exterior design of the lighthouse! The design of the lamp looks very creatively great ! The curved dome roofing looks very nice. Very nice red and white colour scheme of the walls. The wraparound porches on each level of the lighthouse tower looks very nice! The night pictures especially show the specialness of the lamp lighting.
It is looking very nice
@Bonxie very cool lighthouse! I especially like how the colours contrast with the main house, very striking and awesome effect. Could I ask what pack the glass dome on top of the lighthouse is from? Never seen it before and it is very cool haha.
In the Spirit of the Holidays, I've decorated my Trackside Cafe And Bar for Christmas! I've been working on Trackside since Jan.15, 2017, but because I don't have DINE OUT the restaurant part doesn't operate, just yet. The bar part stays very busy, though. Sims can also watch the TV or go dance to the stereo. Trackside is NOT on the gallery, since it's only (maybe) 80% done... to my liking anyway.
I'd just like to say that EVERY strand of garland and lights had to be placed MANUALLY on the train! There was no short-cuts to do it. Just me and my trusty friend - Moveobjects cheat! Man it was worth it though!
I had two Elm trees that I replaced with the lit trees (just temporary - after the Holidays, I'll put my Elms back)
Holiday wreaths at the front door (opposite side of the train), though I made a last minute decision to put wreaths near the back doors too.
