@lilypadmeulin Hi! Thanks for your interest. Our circle is full right now though I wouldn't mind you joining. I'd like to open it up to other members to see whether or not they'd mind taking on another story.

I know a lot of them have busy schedules and barely have enough time to work on their own stories! @lilypadmeulin could you give us a few details about your legacy so they all can determine whether or not they can take it on? How many chapters do you have so far? Would you mind if we started reading at the current generation instead of catching up? Sorry for the pending answer.

So, members of this reading circle, would you mind another member joining and do you have the capacity to start reading another story?

@ny275 well, on the one I was thinking of, I have 68 chapters - but on my story based legacy, which is one I haven't spent much time on, I have 5 chapters, and it would be better to actually use that one given the busy schedules!

@allysimbuilds. Just caught up with Markus and Natasha! I agree with ny275 that Markus is headed for trouble.

@ny275, I wouldn't mind taking on another member. After all, you all were kind enough to let me in at Generation 3. I would like to see some of lilypadmeulin's story, though, before there's a final decision.

@MVWdeZT Seeing as I'll probably be going with the Zodiac if I am accepted, here you go! My Legacy Challenge

I know I'm literally the worst at keeping up with people's stories, but new people are always welcome here. So @lilypadmeulin - welcome!

(Also for the moment the Fitzgeralds are sorta on an unofficial hiatus until my schedule decides to be considerably less ape-plum loco. Just so we're clear on that)

@ny275 For me the hard part is getting caught-up to the current chapter. 5 chapters is fine, and the legacy is a Zodiac, which is different from everyone else's pieces...and really interesting to me. lol.

My question is, @lilypadmeulin, How many generations will you do? I think a decent amount of us are stopping at 10. I saw in the rules that the legacy can repeat for as long as you like after the 12 signs are cleared, will you be doing that? Or will you be stopping after 12?

Also, I saw you @MVWdeZT! Thanks for catching up with Markus and Natasha, they're my favorite generation yet! I certainly agree with you and @ny275 that Markus seems bound for trouble... >:)

    @PurplishSimEater thank you so much!

@allysimbuilds Well, I'll probably aim to clear all twelve signs! But if I end up doing more than that, then I'll repeat the cycle, but it depends. However, I'll probably stop updating the blog after twelve.

I love reading great stories, but it is very hard for me to keep up with all of the stories. If we add another member, can we please cap it at that? 9 people in a reading circle is probably my absolute limit of what I can handle.

I agree! Having the legacy only at 5 chapters though is helpful and shouldn't be too hard to catch up on. I'm totally fine with it. :)

Chapters 83, 84, and 85 (updates for Agatha, Argus, and Jocasta) start here.

@lilypadmeulin. I've enjoyed what I've read of your Zodiac legacy. J makes beautiful children.

@cecerose0208 and @jbestxoxo 9 people will absolutely be the cap! I can't handle more than that either- not in one reading circle. Especially because I have other stories that I read and want to read outside of the circle. Thank you two for being so accommodating (and sacrificial).

@allysimbuilds @PurplishSimEater and @MVWdeZT I appreciate you three taking the time to share your thoughts as well!

Okay, it looks like majority of the people are okay with you joining @lilypadmeulin so I have added a spot for you! Welcome!

Since we're welcoming new members we just welcomed a new member, I'd like to take this time to think about what we do in this circle. I like to keep it laid back (e.g. no obligatory discussions/ schedules) because I know so many of us are super busy. That being said, we can still be casual and have topics of conversation or something. What would you guys like to see?

I do like the random questions we pose to each other sometimes. Maybe that is enough! :) Please share your thoughts so I know what to adjust- if anything.

    Welcome @lilypadmeulin!

I always love the random questions, it is always nice to be able to share ideas and get everyone's input.
It has been super, super helpful for me to just have a space where I can come and ask any random question - especially with the MCC stuff.
IMO- I couldn't ask for a better reading circle with better members!! <3:)

As someone who's juggling a college club sport, laboratory hours, sorority responsibilities, and a full class load, I don't have nearly as much time to be active on here as I'd like. The random questions are perfect and everyone's stories are always good reads (though I still have to work through most of @MVWdeZT 's, whoops).

    Welcome @lilypadmeulin!

Just popping in to say Hi! I have nearly finished my dissertation and will be back shortly!
I love the fact that we keep things causal, it helps a lot. Perhaps we could have a question of the week type thing? Then it still keeps it casual but it can relate to the legacy writing process? Just an idea!!

Thank you all for welcoming me! It made me very happy!

I've updated the blog btw

Hi there and welcome to @lilypadmeulin! I was in the last stages of my appointments for this semester and had no time at all to be concerned with the forum. I wrote 4 academic papers à 20 pages each, an essay and 4 tests and that was a little bit much for me. But now I'm back and can look at everyone's stories! I'm excited to start with being active again :)

I like the idea of having questions that someone poses and everyone can answer about their own story. We could also choose to highlight one story, and everyone asks questions to that one writer. Kinda like the first thing in Reverse if that makes sense.

I also love the idea of just having a question of the week thing, as stated above. That might work better for everyone's busy schedules.

Also, welcome @lilypadmeulin! When I'm back at my computer later today, I will start your story.

    Here's a question to consider:

Most of us are doing legacies in which traits have to be randomized. How does that affect your planning for each generation? Do you try to match traits with skills and jobs?

    @MVWdeZT

Since I've spaced out births over 10 generations, I can roll once the spouse is chosen as I'll know the trait sets I'll be working with. This allows me a preview of every child's traits and aspirations, so I can get a baseline picture of what to expect from each Sim and start filling in a bit of a personality.

However, since my play style is also Sim-directed, I'm going to have to wait and see what direction each kids takes me with autonomous interactions and choices. That way, I can flesh out their personality.

For example, Sim Andrew might be a Genius, an Art Lover, and a Kleptomaniac with the Mansion Baron Aspiration, so I'd start with plans to make him part of the Painter or Art Critic career who becomes an art thief. However, Andrew also likes to autonomously work out and spend time with his family (having high relationships with all of them) so I could take this direction to make him feel conflicted about stealing to support his family and have the workouts become an outlet for the stress in his life.

As for job-matching in Aspirations: I try to do it more based on personality and autonomous behavior unless their aspiration requires a certain career (Public Enemy to Criminal, for example). Going back to my example of Andrew, if he autonomously chose to be more social, I'd go the Art Critic route, whereas if he were more introverted then I'd go the Painter route.

@PurplishSimEater, That's an excellent approach. I usually roll for traits when the child is born, but doing all the generations beforehand certainly does make planning easier. At least that way you know what to expect.

@allysimbuilds I literally just saw your twitter posts!!! Ahhh I never check twitter. Did you share the house on the gallery?!! I'd love to update their house if you wouldn't mind. <3:)

@jbestxoxo If I'm honest, I haven't finished it yet! :s I'll work on it throughout the week and try to have it finished by the weekend! Promise!

@MVWdeZT I actually don't plan anything, lol! I'm literally "flying by the seat of my pants." Everything in my legacy is sim and generator led. I generate all traits at once plus aspiration, per child, to know what kind of a personality they have for writing. I use their aspiration and traits to develop hobbies and such (like athletic sims do a lot of working out). I hope this answers your question. I just let everything up to random chance and then do my best to string it all together for the story. If sims suddenly want to cheat on their spouse (ie gen 4, Cooper) then I find a way to have it make sense.

@jbestxoxo great, bc I still haven't gotten to it... :s

I have an update for everyone: Natasha Goes to College (greatly inspired by jbest's character's going to San Myshuno for schooling...monkey see, monkey do, you know? lol) I'm finding myself losing steam, and I have a huge desire to take time off before generation 5. Anyone else feeling that way about their saves? Or if you have, how did you get through it? Just pushing through? OR, did you take the break and feel/write better for it?

Ahh I'm happy I gave you some inspo!!! And yes I am feeling exactly the same way I am even having trouble completing G4. I am taking a little break and starting up a new build newcrest legacy in the meantime... but I'll still try and update like once a week if I am feeling it... we'll see lol
