Great. Now all these threads are going to magically spawn with subject lines, "Show Us Your Old and Haggard Sims!"
@igazor It seriously never ends with those people .Still in 2017 they resort to showing vanilla low graphic setting, low end computer early release sims 3 pics in comparison to CC coated fully edited pics of S4 sims played on highest graphic settings.Really sad and pathetic.
You take a look at the difference between: These pictures:
Which game shot comes closer to RL?
Real Life Shot:
My shot...of Stanley Park in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Sims 3 Screen of Sunset Valley.
TS4 (from Carls Sims Site)
Can ANYONE honestly look at the two side by side and declare that TS4 is BETTER graphically than TS3?
Mother nature definitely Won#1 shot
we'll give you a full refund. Just make sure you make your request within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from your date of purchase, or within seven days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first.
Who said EA doesn't have a sense of humor
This is Sims 3 at least in my game on my non potato..no mods no editing.Looks pretty real to me.
Sims 3 is a leap above 4 and how many years ago was it made again this BTW is the base game world.Oh and our roads are not for decor we have cars and horses and motorcycles and bikes and....

Exactly, even at the lowest settings, the trees in TS3 look REAL, as opposed to the "WTH are those things" that are supposed to be trees in TS4?
Can't wait to get my computer that can handle the highest graphics settings on TS3... @CravenLestat Your trees look amazing and lifelike in TS3 with graphics boosted to maximum.
Always "River McIrish" ...and maybe some Bebe Hart. ~innocent expression~
Compare RL tree to @CravenLestat's screencapped trees. No contest. TS3 wins hands down as coming closest to Mother Nature's trees (in my photo) whereas the TS4 "WTH are those things" don't even register as trees.

Graphics in Sims 3 and Sims 4
relating to visual art, especially involving drawing, engraving, or lettering.
visual, symbolic, pictorial, illustrative, diagrammatic
I think they both are different
and are like Beauty, Graphics are in the eyes of the beholder.
When I am in Sims 4 I enjoy the Graphics. When in Sims 3, I enjoy the game and it's clear it's a bit older Graphics. but do not at all take from the game because it was done well from the start.
@JoAnne65 I love tragic clown girls, they are so cute but still plotting my revenge against a simmer who turned Odessa Winchester into one the other day then afterwards turned her into a toad.
When I see this picture that I took when I was in Island Paradiso, it makes me want to go and find a real life place that's similar to this as it looks so real to me...
This is picture is of the rock formation on Loreto, Dinagat Islands.

Sims 4 is easily better to me. LOL.
In this screenshot: sims 4, in a way, but sims 3 can look much better than that. This picture isn't the most flattering.
No way. No friggin way, lol. Least not to me. Sims 3 is quite ugly IMO, even the "good" shots aren't that good. That Sims 4 picture is friggin gorgeous to me, no way Sims 3 can top that in my eyes, LOL.

You see, it's exactly like @ceiva says. The art styles are so different, that it just makes sense one will prefer one while the other prefers the other. And we can keep on throwing in picture proof but that won't change anything because of this. The Hermit's location looks beautiful and there are more locations in Sims 4 that do. But the same goes for Sims 3 and it all comes down to preference (and settings by the way; Sims 3 will never look amazing I guess when you don't play on highest). Can't count the times Sims 3 just takes my breath away because of its beauty and Sims 4 just never does that. To me.
But I must add the fakeness of the backdrops (just went into my game to find the spot in the TS4 picture and I can't begin to tell you how that turns be off again and again) and the inability to actually go to what I can see is a much bigger issue. Sims 3 only became beautiful for me after a few years (due to settings and due to the fact the worlds became prettier and prettier) but I never cared. It added a charm for sure, but not in a way that I couldn't enjoy the game before.
The sims 4 pic above is pretty, but definitely not gorgeous in my eyes. The perceived "depth" in the game is there because they added a blur effect. Looks like a straight-up cartoon to me, and I'm not necessarily one to need realistic graphics to enjoy a game but it doesn't hurt .
If we are talking about realism and detail, Sims 3.
Apologies, as I'm positive I've posted these before. (all non-edited and no environmental mods)
I'm definitely not knocking anyone's preference and I'd probably play 4 if it had more of the options that 3 has. As things are, I'm not willing to give up certain things that I enjoy just to play the newer version, so I'll stick with Sims 3.

Ultimate cc-list
My top 5
Yes, this picture is edited, but to me, I see loads of detail and that's what I appreciate in TS3.
Nope, it's not, just checked
