I have a question: with the increased ram requirements from 2gb to 4gb how much harder will a processor have to work? I imagine an increased work load would equal an increase in cpu temperature.

We have run several tests on this game. It's processor heavy. Will it get worse? I don't know. You will find out when you add the EP.

    I see, thanks. :)

I'm not as concerned about overheating as much now I have a cooling pad; as is, in-game my cpu averages about 67-70 degrees C with the pad on so hopefully i won't change much.

For a gaming laptop 70-80 c is fine. If you start hitting 90 c that might be a problem even if your computer does not shut down.

    Noted.
Without the cooling pad it was hitting 85+ at times but with it it occasionally gets up to 75, at about that time the internal fan goes (for a short while) up a gear, to the same speed it was on the whole time before I got the pad.
The gpu is averaging 47C which I hear is OK.

75 is ok for the CPU and GPU being at 47 is fine too.

Will we get refund for digital copies? Or just physical copies?

You can get a refund on digital copies . That's why I said try it out. If it does not work for you , ask for a refund.

I'll probably get it, shouldn't be a problem for now but you never know, I have my doubts mine will survive the entire game at fully Ultra settings.

Don't know a lot about that card if its dedicated or integrated and all that good stuff but from this link http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-Pro-560-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti I would say most likely, maybe drop AA a smudge or so.

EDIT: Also what resolution are we talking?

Its kind of hard to tell because I can't find a lot on this card but it looks like it would do high settings if its on 1080p.

    http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-Pro-560-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050

It looks like its a bit slower than the GTX 1050 in "GRAPHICS" section so I'm not sure how it will go on High settings but I would say a sweet spot would be Medium with a few less intensive settings at High

Ok, after a bit more research it seems the Radeon Pro 560 is between the GTX 960M and the GTX 965M https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-Pro-560-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs.226608.0.html
So I would probably say you would be fine for Cats and Dogs on High settings but as long as you play it in 1080p, but its kind of too early to tell.

How does one play in 1080p? is that the screen resolution? I'm not supposed to go higher than that with my specs but I don't how to check/change it if need be.

It's in the graphics options of the games usually, in Sims 4 its "Screen Resolution" I believe and its near the top of the graphics menu and to play in 1080p the option is "1920x1080"

I'm not too sure then, because in the game you should have all resolutions up to your max resolution all the way down to 1024x768 in Sims 4 (some games go even lower)

    Hmm.

I've only got options higher than that, the highest being 3 thousand 1 hundred something something X something (sorry, can't remember the exact digits).

I'm playing on full screen mode does that make a difference?

No it should not make a difference, do you have 2560x1440? Depending on specs you might be able to get away with that.

I think I have (sorry, I'm not in game right now) but I've got it set as the lowest one which is lower than that. (It set it as that itself, I didn't change the resolution) - I'll have to have a look later and post exactly what resolution options I have.

Your GT 630m card is weak to play in 1080p resolution . The GT 630m has ddr 3 vram. You need a GTX card with ddr5 vram to game in 1080p . If your going to try and run 1080p on the 630m, windowed screen would be better

Can you post your DxDiag or send it to me in a PM

You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field

Cale, playing in windowed mode takes stress off a video card as opposed to playing in full screen

I wasn't actually looking to play in 1080 - it's not an option for me under the resolution bit of the graphics panel. I am curious though as to what it means.

To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, do this :
Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
Type dxdiag in the text field
    Click OK
Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
Then copy and paste the information from where you saved it, to pastebin https://pastebin.com
and post the link to the file here

I wasn't actually looking to play in 1080 - it's not an option for me under the resolution bit of the graphics panel. I am curious though as to what it means.

Its a higher resolution but lower than 2 k or 4k . The higher the resolution the better the video card you need
