Launcher Crash When Viewing Installed Content

Pretty self explanatory after the title but I'm having an issue where my launcher crashes when I open Installed Content and being to scroll. I can scroll down a tiny bit and then it crashes. Can anyone help with this?

*bump* Because I installed a few sims 3 packs this morning and now my game crashes during the second loading screen and I can't use the launcher to uninstall them. :(

@igazor I hope you help with this if you have the time. I'm wondering if there's a way to revert the launcher back to a previous state?

I posted this in bugs and issues, but now I really do need this fixed because I installed some sims 3 packs this morning that were bad apparently, and I can't go through my installed content to delete them. :(

I see igazor helped you a few days ago with this. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/comment/15901945#Comment_15901945

Have you tried resetting your sims game to create a new clean sims 3 folder? Documents, Electronic Arts folder, the sims 3 folder. Pull that sims 3 folder to desktop. Start your game and it will generate a new clean sims folder. Can you start your game and load CAS?

Crinrict has instructions on how to find and get rid of bad cc http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/custom-content-cc/bad-cc

You either have bad cc or your computer may not meet requirements to run the game. CAS runs separate from the game. The more items in CAS the more power it may take to load

    You were answered here http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/922084/launcher-crash-when-viewing-installed-content#latest

The same people that will answer you in bugs will also answer you here in tech. There is no need to start two threads

Generally speaking, when CAS the Launcher (corrected) crashes on attempting to display items in its tabs where it didn't do so before, you have downloaded or installed a "bad" item. If it's the Downloads tab it is crashing on, remove the content from Downloads. If it's already installed content that is making it crash, then one or more of your dbc files has become no good. I did think we already covered this sufficiently. You may need to dump the dbc's if you can figure out which ones are causing issues or dump and re-create your entire game folder to get rid of the bad content.

The only way to revert things to as they were before kind of automatically is to have a backup of your game or DCCache Folder to restore from such as one might have if they run any kind of automated backup system that copies everything to another drive.

Going forward, the answer might be to stop installing custom content by way of sims3pack files unless you have inspected them with a tool like Custard for unwanted or badly made content.

I'm uncertain as to why you keep saying CAS. He means the Launcher! It does the same thing to me. When we click on "Installed Content" on the Launcher, as you scroll down, after a short time, the launcher says it needs to be restarted. This happens no matter the tab - Lots, Patterns, Objects... To the OP, I typically can simply move that popup window aside and continue on and it generally works. When you're done doing what you need to, you should be able to go ahead and choose the "Close the Program" option. It would be nice to find out what's happening, though!

I just discovered that I have that stinkin' Arezzo counter again, even though I don't download from the Exchange and I only "install" Sims as package files. I mention it because I know it can cause problems, although I had this problem (Launcher crashing) before the counter showed up. But maybe the OP can look into that for themselves.

My mistake, one typo from a year ago now corrected. We helped that player out on a parallel thread back then regardless. This thread is now a necro and was not necessary to resurrect.
