As you have already noticed, the option to watch ads is not available right now.
We are investigating the issue we have been talking about in this thread. We didn't want you to watch ads and not get the SimPoints in return, so we have temporarily disabled them while we look into it.
I will keep you updated in this thread with any new information.
The Sims 3 is definitely still supported. We are currently in the middle of a datacenter migration for The Sims 3 so there may be some interruptions in service as we move our servers but we'll try to keep that to a minimum.

I wouldn't doubt that they would. While the migration (hopefully) has been completed, their excuse could still be valid since the Sales page was lost in the migration; the cause of the problem was found just never fixed. The second post, written 6 months later, no longer provides the reason or the date the migration was done.
I had included the December 2016 quote back when it was News. A few days ago, I was contemplating changing the section name from "News" to "Noteworthy" since the data center migration would/should have been completed 6 months ago and was no longer new. I decided to check for an update, but sadly found an excuse.

Hey everyone~ I've been mostly lurking around the off-topic chat, since my last DD set was over a week ago and the next one is in 3 days from now. I've grabbed a couple of individual items, but nothing else.
MMAO was nice to me and gave me 4 individual items (2 of which were on my wishlist), plus an item from Everyday Kids (effectively making the set free at DD 698) for 46% off.
I own 50% of November 2011 (including the premium item from Atomic Age), so I'm hoping that completing Everyday Kids for free will be enough to give me the rest of the comp. If not, I can always pick up Atomic Age for 5 sp at 816 instead, but I'll continue to be (cautiously) optimistic lol.
I'm pumped for the Game of Thrones season premiere~ hubs is working from midnight-8am, but we'll watch it together when he gets home. And my physiotherapist is on vacation, so I don't have to see the inside of a hospital for 2 whole weeks! YAY!

@ajaxpost, where in particular was your sister living? I lived in Seekonk for 12 years and Swansea for 3. Swansea is immediately west of our Somerset, which has a creamery with THE best ice cream in our area. Sadly, my lactose intolerance has reached epic proportions and I haven't been able to have my blueberry pie ice cream at all this season. Our family summers in Warren, immediately next to our Bristol. So other than my hometown of Pawtucket, a native American name, I truly have lived in the English part of New England most of my life. Perhaps its why I'm such an Anglophile.
@me1620 thanks for the consolidated updates. And I still say that the fact that they bothered migrating the store to the new servers at all is a good sign. It would have been much easier for them just to have dropped the store then and be done with it unless they had long(ish) term plans for it. Any server migration is fraught with issues, and dropping any old data is the first thing you do when starting the process.
Plus, since we know there's about 1/2 a staff person working on the store; and the ads generate $$$; it makes sense that the ads are taking priority over the sale page, which is more of a feature than a revenue source.
Interesting news that may interest some people here that play TS3 Mobile versions. I think I recall a few people saying they did? The part I bolded is what I really wanted players to be aware of; how to retain access to their game(s) a bit longer! This news was first announced on 27 June 2017 here:

been feeling pretty lousy lately, but i'm happy because hubs is making cheeseburgers when he gets home from work. yay!
other than that, just killing a few hours until 506; i don't have another set for 10 days after that but, as i've said before, perhaps i should be happy that i'm running out of stuff to pick up.
there's a lot of the store that i don't own, but it's all non-dd stuff. like one with nature, victorian fashions, etc. but a lot of that will have to wait until the ads come back, or i can work, whoever is first (and, from the looks of things, the ads are gonna be back first as my odds of going back to work this year don't look too good at the moment).
on the plus side, though, i don't have physio again until august. yay!
on the downside, i am so so so bored and the orthopedic surgeon made me fill out a bunch of forms... but he never gave me a date for my second surgery. i just want it done. sigh.

@lauravonawesome I'm so sorry. I've certainly been through my share of sitting (or more often laying) around recuperating and waiting to see when (and with the vertigo IF) I would get my real life back. (Spoiler alert: I didn't.) I remember how much time I spent on the computer back then, just jumping from static site to static site, since I couldn't do much with anything that involved movement. Even the most basic Facebook games could set me off in the beginning. So it was all crosswords and the like. And chatting. And boredom. LOTS of boredom. So I do understand and sympathize.
Related anecdote: At the time Microsoft was just getting their Bing search engine out of the gate and hosted a site where you could earn points by playing word games. The purpose of this was that throughout the game certain words would trigger Bing searches, thus increasing the hits that showed up in their sales reports to try and bring in advertisers. Basically false padding. In the beginning the points would rack up quickly. I got an XBox, several games, the driving wheel controller, a Zune (their answer to the iPod) and lots of Amazon gift cards. Those actually paid for a decent amount of my Sims stuff. I did a tally once and my take was well over a thousand dollars for real, physical prizes or cash value gift cards. As time went by the prizes required more and more points, but I had already done really well. I remember how it felt to reach the next prize goal. At a time when I had almost no means of setting goals in my real life, it gave me something.
So it's too bad that the store ads aren't around right now to keep you busy and to make you feel rewarded. Maybe soon.
EDIT: That wasn't supposed to be "oh, you don't have that" it was supposed to be "I understand what not having it feels like." Just in case the whole text without tone thing didn't work right. Hang in there.
I do miss having the ads around. They gave me something to look forward to and were a nice distraction from the fact that I was sitting around the house doing nothing all day.
I love word games and have been doing crosswords, jumbles, etc. to try and kill time. I just don't enjoy reading or gaming like I used to, and there are even certain foods I can't eat anymore, just because they remind me of the hospital. For whatever strange reason, I remember the song that was playing on my iPod when the accident happened (I had earphones in at the time) and hearing it makes mel violently ill... If the radio starts playing it, or it comes on shuffle when I'm listening to music on my laptop, I have to turn it off.
I've been thinking about volunteering to fill a few lonely hours. Since I practically live at the hospital now anyway, I figure there have to be others like me there: people who don't have family nearby or at all, who can't get out and about or socialize. I'd have to figure out travel arrangements, since I can't drive or walk well enough to get to the closest bus stop, but it might be worth it.
It's interesting that you are thinking of volunteering. After things got too much for me emotionally and I spent my time in treatment for my mental health and then transitioned to a day program, I went back to the same hospital as a volunteer not much later. For me that hospital represented an awakening and going back was a source of comfort. It helped ease me back into "the real world." My body still wasn't great, I was only just able to drive again, and my days had to be kept short. But I would go in a few hours once a week and it helped. In time I was there twice a week. And later I actually was hired to do what I'd been volunteering for, plus more intense work with my peers in mental health treatment.
Eventually my physical limits ended my employment. And in time I found my way back into volunteerism. I think I've mentioned that I've recently had to take a break from it again for my physical health. But the point is that whenever my body allows it, volunteering does provide a connection for me and help fill the otherwise too often empty hours. And it allows us to set our own pace. When my body could only handle an afternoon, I did an afternoon. Two afternoons, I did two afternoons. >>>> In your case it is marking time until you are fully mobile again. It's interesting that you are thinking of volunteering. After things got too much for me emotionally and I spent my time in treatment for my mental health and then transitioned to a day program, I went back to the same hospital as a volunteer not much later. For me that hospital represented an awakening and going back was a source of comfort. It helped ease me back into "the real world." My body still wasn't great, I was only just able to drive again, and my days had to be kept short. But I would go in a few hours once a week and it helped. In time I was there twice a week. And later I actually was hired to do what I'd been volunteering for, plus more intense work with my peers in mental health treatment.
Eventually my physical limits ended my employment. And in time I found my way back into volunteerism. I think I've mentioned that I've recently had to take a break from it again for my physical health. But the point is that whenever my body allows it, volunteering does provide a connection for me and help fill the otherwise too often empty hours. And it allows us to set our own pace. When my body could only handle an afternoon, I did an afternoon. Two afternoons, I did two afternoons. >>>> In your case it is marking time until you are fully mobile again. I know it is hard to remember day after day, but this too shall pass. (By all the gods, did I just throw a platitude at you? I'm sorry. {No I'm not or I'd delete it})
No apologies necessary; I'll be the first to admit that I'm super impatient and tend to get disappointed when I'm not progressing as quickly as I think I should be. I've always been an overachiever, and I definitely have the Ambitious trait.
I did tons of volunteer work in high school, even going above and beyond the 40 hours of community service I needed to graduate. That was a long time ago, but I hope that going back to it will 1) kill time and 2) give me something to focus on, other than my injury/being generally miserable. Even if I can't work, I'll have something to look forward to.
Sorry for the late reply, but it's been a rough couple of days. My parents called to tell me that my grandfather had a heart attack and is in the hospital~ I hear that the damage wasn't severe and, as of now, he's recovering well (although my gran says he doesn't care for the food); I'm not particularly religious, or even spiritual, but if anyone feels like sending thoughts/prayers/whatever his way, it'd be much appreciated.

I wouldn't doubt that they would. While the migration (hopefully) has been completed, their excuse could still be valid since the Sales page was lost in the migration; the cause of the problem was found just never fixed. The second post, written 6 months later, no longer provides the reason or the date the migration was done.
I had included the December 2016 quote back when it was News. A few days ago, I was contemplating changing the section name from "News" to "Noteworthy" since the data center migration would/should have been completed 6 months ago and was no longer new. I decided to check for an update, but sadly found an excuse.

MMAO was nice to me and gave me 4 individual items (2 of which were on my wishlist), plus an item from Everyday Kids (effectively making the set free at DD 698) for 46% off.
I own 50% of November 2011 (including the premium item from Atomic Age), so I'm hoping that completing Everyday Kids for free will be enough to give me the rest of the comp. If not, I can always pick up Atomic Age for 5 sp at 816 instead, but I'll continue to be (cautiously) optimistic lol.

@me1620 thanks for the consolidated updates. And I still say that the fact that they bothered migrating the store to the new servers at all is a good sign. It would have been much easier for them just to have dropped the store then and be done with it unless they had long(ish) term plans for it. Any server migration is fraught with issues, and dropping any old data is the first thing you do when starting the process.
Plus, since we know there's about 1/2 a staff person working on the store; and the ads generate $$$; it makes sense that the ads are taking priority over the sale page, which is more of a feature than a revenue source.

been feeling pretty lousy lately, but i'm happy because hubs is making cheeseburgers when he gets home from work. yay!
other than that, just killing a few hours until 506; i don't have another set for 10 days after that but, as i've said before, perhaps i should be happy that i'm running out of stuff to pick up.

Related anecdote: At the time Microsoft was just getting their Bing search engine out of the gate and hosted a site where you could earn points by playing word games. The purpose of this was that throughout the game certain words would trigger Bing searches, thus increasing the hits that showed up in their sales reports to try and bring in advertisers. Basically false padding. In the beginning the points would rack up quickly. I got an XBox, several games, the driving wheel controller, a Zune (their answer to the iPod) and lots of Amazon gift cards. Those actually paid for a decent amount of my Sims stuff. I did a tally once and my take was well over a thousand dollars for real, physical prizes or cash value gift cards. As time went by the prizes required more and more points, but I had already done really well. I remember how it felt to reach the next prize goal. At a time when I had almost no means of setting goals in my real life, it gave me something.
So it's too bad that the store ads aren't around right now to keep you busy and to make you feel rewarded. Maybe soon.

I do miss having the ads around. They gave me something to look forward to and were a nice distraction from the fact that I was sitting around the house doing nothing all day.
I love word games and have been doing crosswords, jumbles, etc. to try and kill time. I just don't enjoy reading or gaming like I used to, and there are even certain foods I can't eat anymore, just because they remind me of the hospital. For whatever strange reason, I remember the song that was playing on my iPod when the accident happened (I had earphones in at the time) and hearing it makes mel violently ill... If the radio starts playing it, or it comes on shuffle when I'm listening to music on my laptop, I have to turn it off.
I've been thinking about volunteering to fill a few lonely hours. Since I practically live at the hospital now anyway, I figure there have to be others like me there: people who don't have family nearby or at all, who can't get out and about or socialize. I'd have to figure out travel arrangements, since I can't drive or walk well enough to get to the closest bus stop, but it might be worth it.
Eventually my physical limits ended my employment. And in time I found my way back into volunteerism. I think I've mentioned that I've recently had to take a break from it again for my physical health. But the point is that whenever my body allows it, volunteering does provide a connection for me and help fill the otherwise too often empty hours. And it allows us to set our own pace. When my body could only handle an afternoon, I did an afternoon. Two afternoons, I did two afternoons. >>>> In your case it is marking time until you are fully mobile again. I know it is hard to remember day after day, but this too shall pass. (By all the gods, did I just throw a platitude at you? I'm sorry. {No I'm not or I'd delete it})

No apologies necessary; I'll be the first to admit that I'm super impatient and tend to get disappointed when I'm not progressing as quickly as I think I should be. I've always been an overachiever, and I definitely have the Ambitious trait.
I did tons of volunteer work in high school, even going above and beyond the 40 hours of community service I needed to graduate. That was a long time ago, but I hope that going back to it will 1) kill time and 2) give me something to focus on, other than my injury/being generally miserable. Even if I can't work, I'll have something to look forward to.
Sorry for the late reply, but it's been a rough couple of days. My parents called to tell me that my grandfather had a heart attack and is in the hospital~ I hear that the damage wasn't severe and, as of now, he's recovering well (although my gran says he doesn't care for the food); I'm not particularly religious, or even spiritual, but if anyone feels like sending thoughts/prayers/whatever his way, it'd be much appreciated.
