Today I am feeling sad. Faced with uncertainty in my employment which could also perhaps affect my living arrangement while other stuff such as the situation in my country is leaving me with mixed feelings. I also feel about this with The Sims, the one thing that has propped me up over the past 17 years.
But we always show cute fun things from The Sims but less of the sad stuff so today, rather than going on about how bad my life is, let's show pictures of the darker side of The Sims. Moments that made us feel sad, angry or disappointed, real emotions from a game that is more than just plumbobs, pink flamingos and lawn gnomes:
Witnessing someone you love being with someone else hurts
Seeing a vulnerable woman being taken advantage of and left to bring up a baby alone is not a nice sight
Seeing someone getting bullied is sad
Nothing hurts more than seeing two friends stop becoming friends. This picture is heart-breaking to look at
And then there is this where you try to act normal but inside you do not feel yourself
Feel free to share more pictures of sadness from The Sims and remember that our lives are not always as bad in comparison
Sadness? Oh, Gods. No. I can take a selfie of myself when my simworld collapses in a hardware-breakdown...
...I'd win this game. No. No... getting bad, very bad flashbacks... Oh, where' me pills... this is... no. The pain... I... ...I cannot...
@king_of_simcity7 I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I know how hard it is with loss and an uncertain future.
Several years ago, I lost my mom, my husband's business went under, then we lost our house, all within a couple of years time. My husband and I did find good jobs and everything was starting to look up, then a couple of years ago right before Christmas, he gets into a car accident on his way home from work. Now he has 5 fused vertebrae (sp?) in his neck and some nerve damage. Of course, he lost his job due to length of recovery time and possible liability because of his injury. He was also very close to be able to retire from the military (army/national guard) but lost that because of being unable to perform certain duties and pass pt tests. Even though things have been tough, we've stuck together and 2 out of 3 of my(adult) kids still live with us and they really keep me going.
I kinda like think my mom was looking out for us. The accident brought in a nice settlement and we got to buy back the house we lost. I've been at my job for 5 1/2 years now and just got another raise. So, I guess my point is not to lose hope. If you have the will, you will find a way.

I know this sadness all to well. I raise parakeets, finches ,and chickens . When one dies part of me dies with them
@MemoriiValentine I know, it doesn't matter how big or small, loosing a pet hurts. I cried when I lost my fish. He was 10 years old and I used to hand feed him.
My cat lady, Audrey, tried to pet a kitten and was rejected. She sat on the floor in a dark part of the house and contemplated the hollowness of life for the rest of the afternoon, devastated.
@king_of_simcity7 Haha, glad I could make you laugh anyway They weren't crying over a dishwasher by the way, someone had been electrocuted
@CravenLestat Yes! I know she's one of your favourites ; she was the girlfriend of my heir's partner before he met her (duh, no competition, though you won't agree of course ) Thanks
I don't have the picture anymore, but the saddest one I ever took was of a teen boy who's father had just passed away tragically. He was playing a very sad song on the piano and crying at the same time. What broke my heart was something glitched out in my game, and I couldn't bring his father back.
@king_of_simcity7 I know things get rough, like Odonata I have been through a lot in a short clump of time, I am still going through it but it always seems darkest before the dawn, I tend to think it might just be life re-directing you to a happier path although it can take a while to find, I am still looking for my happy ending but I know there will be one.
I haven't got a picture because I only let it happen once in my game but the dogs dying animation when Grimmy calls kills me, I shed actual hot sobbing tears the first and only time I saw it. I am such a soft touch with animals whether animated or real.
He was the only one who didn't wake to watch Grim take his father away. Hours after the mourning moodlet ended, Ben's first stop was his son's room. This pretty much takes the cake with all my households.
A sad puppy comes pretty close.
And since Muse starting having a midlife crisis, panning down to her looking at her empty plate seemed sad to me.
After cleaning it, she pulled this face while her youngest were growing to young adult.
Needless to say, she's not enjoying life right now.
"Fool," said my muse to me. "Look in thy heart and write."
God, I searched everywhere for pictures of sadness in my Sims 3 game folder but nothing came up..
I found one, but it's part of a story. It's a "bitter-sweet" story, here's the shorten version of it.
She feels melancholic here.
And even though they had a good time today. You can tell. . .
That he still feels this could have turned into something more.
@king_of_simcity7 Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it Things aren't going great in my life either, actually, and I'm in need of a new computer because my current desktop cannot play Sims 3 and can barely play Sims 4 in its current state. I do hope things get better for you soon. Hugs
Sierra took the loss of her grandfather, Nathan, very, very hard... this was the hardest I've ever seen a sim grieve the loss of a loved one
Sierra is practically inconsolable as she broods
There was one point when she quit speaking altogether
@king_of_simcity7 I hope things improve for you at work or that you are able to find a new job.
My sims experience very little sadness because happy sims make me happy. I do, however, allow death in my saves and this does cause much sadness for my sims and myself. Here's a pic of Jordan when he lost the love of his life
Time do dive in my old pictures! And it's a lot. Based on the amount fo times they're unhappy I wonder if they're ever happy...May have to do something with my own emotional state.
Nevermind:
(Beware, lots of pictures, and these are only 3 generations...)
(Why I only see this now - more than a year later - is very mysterious, but I just discovered their clothing has the same pattern)
