    Hello
It would be beneficial for you and your family to have a local doctor that you could see about health issues. You could see him or her about short term health problems as well as long term ongoing health concerns . Try talking this over with your Mother. By seeing a local doctor, he/she can keep eye on your health , and if there are changes then they can be picked up at an early state before issues worsen. Also , by getting the diagnosis of you having Aspergers medicallyconfirmed, it may open up more avenues of support, both with the government services and also on daily life strategies to live with having it,

I can remember back when I was 7 I went to Disney World in Florida and I remember seeing Cast Members dressed as Snow &Prince and Mar Poppins&Bert and I remember going on Tea cup ride. I might or might not have gone on the then-Haunted House. I remember my Gr. 3 teacher in June 1999 asking me why I was upset (my dad's dad had died ).

So between my sensitively issues, and rountine+memory. I also learned recently that some autistic children to have a tedency to "mumble" (which is what my parents espcially Mom thinks I do) and then have to scream what I was saying to whomever I was talking to)

I'm sorry it's taking so long for them to diagnose you, I understand you're upset and frustrated at the doctor's for not understanding how your feeling at this point. I hope they can confirm it soon enough so you can get any help and support you may need to do with any struggles you have encountered due to your aspergers. It's going to be difficult at times but hopefully your family support you through it all and with whatever decisions you choose to make. :) . I hope you have a good day and that things become easier for you soon.

@rosemow that's just the problem we can't the doctor we had lived in A place and we lived in place B and the owner of the clinic she worked at (which has lost another doctor besides that one since then) wanted her to work more hours at B place but she had kids. We been trying to find new doctor but between Mom's work life and the fact that Ontario has the worst problems with family doctors (15.5% of Canadians aged 12 and older, roughly 4.6 million people, reported that they did not have a regular medical doctor. The percentage of females who do not have a regular medical doctor increased from 10.1% in 2003 to 11.7% in 2008) also Mom and I would like a female one because of you know...female things. We rather it still be in our region (preferably within walking distance) but wouldn't mind if we had to take a bus or have Dad drive us to the clinic. Basically the only person in the house who DOES have a non-specialist family doctor is Dad (and Mom and I haven't been to his doctor since I was an infant because he didn't understand why I wasn't growing(?) or something her words not mine). Even if we could find a doctor, there's the issue of the doctor of maybe not wanting to take new patients.

Last year I did give mom an phone number to phone to arrange an appointment to fill in stuff to see about getting a doctor in place let's call it C but Mom apparently lost it.

Also according to reports alot of Doctors-in-Training are leaving the province for other provinces making Ontario's healthcare even worse.

And another problem the only people who can actually diagnose autism are for children there's nobody available for adults

I don't want to be sounding like I'm making excuse after excuse but there's too many issues in trying to find a family doctor. Mom's first and only doctor after Dad's one moved way out of the way (I only saw that doctor if I needed a shot for school) and then Mom and I had this one for a couple of years and currently noting.

I am just concerned for you that you and your mother don't have a local doctor that you can talk your health issues over with. You need to have medical help to assist you with your ongoing health needs and offer needed support., as well as it being a resource for short term health issues. Although you have tried in the past to get a local doctor, it may be beneficial to try again now to find a new doctor. I care that you are living with the symptoms of Aspergers and just want you to get the support that you need for your daily life, both now and into the future <3

Hello @MadameLee I am sorry to hear you are having trouble finding a local doctor. I agree with @rosemow finding someone, even on a temporary basis, is better than having nothing at all. Many years ago I moved to where I am now and was taken seriously ill. The local surgery were brilliant in rushing through my registration with them and I was able to get the treatment I needed. Sadly times have changed and England like Canada has a chronic shortage of doctors. This often means seeing a male doctor when I would have preferred to see a female. I comfort myself with the knowledge they all do the same training and on occasion I have found a male doctor more sympathetic. I wonder if your Mum would accompany you when you see a male doctor ? I am sure the doctor wouldn't mind and it might make things easier for you.

On a practical level the NHS is obligated to help patients find a family doctor. Do you have such an organisation in Canada ?It would be so much better to have a doctor locally rather than having to travel :)

I wish you luck in finding a doctor soon and in getting a proper diagnosis/treatment for your health issues. Take care of yourself.

    Betty

@Bettyboop55 Mom wants us to see a female one because of looking at a woman's privates (since apparently normal female doctors also do gynaecology) I already see a Male doctor for my endocrinology once a year. so we would actually like a female doctor instead.

Of course it is preferable to see a female doctor for those kind of appointments. Good luck in finding a suitable doctor for that. For the ladies in my area that choice is no longer available unless you are prepared to wait several weeks or are prepared to go into the nearest big city. So I really hope you are successful in your quest :)

My head's racing right now. The company I work with has gone under review and we have a meeting tomorrow. We were told before that there wouldn't be any campus closures, but I don't know if the gov't will go back on that promise. If that isn't the case, I'm worried about layoffs. While one would think a library is essential to a campus, the gov't might think differently. I'm actually really anxious at the moment as I'm worried I'm gonna lose my job one way or another. I don't feel like I'm having a panic attack, but it is really upsetting me. I can take a budget hit, but not a lose of work. :(

    Hello @LosaruTaiyo
I send hugs to you <3 I am so sorry that you are going through the anxiety of not knowing what will be the result of the meeting tomorrow. Uncertainty about the future can make you feel quite anxious. I will keep you in my thoughts as you prepare for the meeting, and with whatever happens as a result of what you are notified about at the meeting. You will gain more information at the meeting. Try taking things one step at a time. Try to get some restful sleep tonight if you can , to prepare you for tomorrow and all that it may hold,.Sending another hug to you <3

Difficult to think clearly when faced with something like this but you do need to relax a little and give your heart and head a chance to calm down. Why not make a herbal tea and listen to some soothing music. Deep breathing also helps. I think you are right, a library is an essential resource for a campus. Just hold on to that thought :)

Things are often not as bad as we think they are going to be. These days few organisations remain unchanged especially when finances are limited. If you can relax a little now it will put you in a better position to listen carefully to what is said tomorrow. Then you can make some plans. I hope the news isn't all bad and you get to have a chance to relax further over the weekend. Good luck for tomorrow. I am just sorry I am not there to share the tea but you will be in my thoughts tomorrow.

Just an update: The review seems like a standard budget thing "Cut funding where it's wasted' and all that, although there's a note about reorganizing which has me a bit unnerved. I'll have more info later on.

    Hello @LosaruTaiyo
Thankyou for updating us on what you have learnt that the meeting will involve. I hope that it remains a review that just seeks to better controls costs, and is not connected to the reducition of jobs. I send hugs to you , as you prepare for the meeting <3

Basic results are that the campus isn't closing and I still have my job. There is still an air of gloom around, but for myself, that will come later.

So pleased to hear you still have a job. You must be so relieved. At least you can relax for now and I will keep my fingers crossed things work out for you longer term.

It would be a relief to you that the campus isn't closing and you still have your job. Thankyou for letting us know how the meeting went. Alithiugh the situation still remains a little cloudy as to cutting costs and budgeting, it is very good to know that you still have your job now .

Ah - should have read on a bit. Really sorry to read. I remember when I was laid off. I was pretty scared for a while there but I had skills and found a better job eventually (after one misstep). Like @Bettyboop55 said very wisely and probably others, take good care of yourself right now. This is a high-stress event in anyone's life.

I love this thread, its really nice to find a place that actually cares for its community. It's even nicer to see a community that cares back. I put my heart out to all those having difficulties at the minute. Life can be a struggle but just remember that every step you take, no matter how small or big it is, gets you closer to your happy ending. Every step you take is a step toward something bigger, brighter and better.

I've recently been struggling myself. I've just moved to my partners home. It's such a lovely experience and he's an amazing man but I've left all my family and friends behind. He lives in the country side were there's nothing but trees and fields. The closest shop is a couple of miles walk away! While I'm enjoying it immensely and I'm really happy to be here with him (finally) I do miss everyone. It's very lonely up here. I haven't had much of a chance to make any friends as there's not a lot to do around here. If we fancy a night out we have to travel an hour or two to the next town! He works very long hours and I'm left on my own for long periods of time. My mental health is slipping slightly and I find myself having days were I feel horrible for no reason what so ever and I find it really difficult to talk to him about it. How are you supposed to explain how you feel when you're not sure exactly why you feel that way?

I used to talk to my Mum about everything, along with my three younger siblings. I'm finding it difficult to be without them. My partner is so supportive but there's nothing like a good old natter with your Mum when you're feeling low. Unfortunately she works a lot and I only get to talk to her about once a week, the same with my siblings.

But finding this forum has been a lovely god sent. It's nice to see lots of like minded people all in the same place! I'm hoping I make lots of friends.
