Witches in Sims 4

If they eventually bring magic to TS4, at least they should have a primary focus on "traditional magic". By "traditional", I do not refer to what Wikipedia refers to as "traditional witchcraft". I'm talking about what the public consciousness defines as traditional, meaning the "popular culture depictions of magic".

I've seen many people mentioning the Wicca, not just here, but in other threads as well. In my humble opinion, they should keep away from cults and other neo-pagan belief systems. Not only it can bring unnecessary controversy, it can also focus too much on concepts inherent to the Wicca. The lack of proper belief systems related to vampires, allowed that GP to use various concepts related to classical and contemporary vampirism, but I'm afraid it won't be that simple with what people are suggesting towards magical Sims.

A well made mixture of Makin' Magic, Apartment Life, and Supernatural with some new features added should be enough.

I'm especially partial to witches. I love to play with them and they have some of the best interactions and abilities. I wonder if every supernatural will get their own game pack. It would fix that whole "I don't want *blah* in my game" ... thing... that people do. But at the same time, I'm sort of bummed if they do it that way because it will cost more in the long run to get all of the supernatural content.

And I do want all of it. :D

I, too, really want the supernatural beings and all that goes with it in the Sims 4. I was so flipfloppin' excited when I saw that they made a vampires game pack, bummed it wasn't a full on supernatural expansion, but still excited. I miss witches and werewolves. I did like the fairies in Sims 3, but not as much as the witches, vampires, and werewolves. I'm pretty sure all my sims since that expansion in Sims 3 were mostly witches. I've also been wanting a demon type supernatural with horns and other cool stuff kind of like the Draenei in WoW just to add something different..... perhaps I've played too much WoW in the past and miss it. Probably. Still... a new and different supe added to the mix would be rad.

I really wished that a witches game pack was in the survey, but I'm hoping that it is in the quarterly teaser.

I also would love to have a pack about witches similar to the vampire one, with powers, etc.
If it was released after the possible pets EP, our witches could have familiar cats!

I love the idea of familiars maybe they can look for ingredients for potions, or help with spells, might be a little too far but I'd love if witches could go into the mind of their and control them like in Game of Throne but that's probably too much to ask

I really like that coven idea. It could tie into the Get Together stuff pack and when you have a bunch of them together, you could do extremely powerful rituals like changing the weather ( if we ever get a Seasons EP ), drastically increasing lifespan, a +100 Happy moodlet with a huge decrease in the time it takes to learn and master skills for 3 sim days or something like that.

I actually had the same idea a while ago, the spell trees part.

Now I don't know if I'd like Magic in the Sims 4 to be restricted to an Occult or maybe just a 20 leveled skill. ( I figure Magic should take a lot of time and dedication to improve ) I don't see how learning Magic should change your "race".

I also agree that if casting Magic has to have your sim's Broom appear all the time, that would be a major aesthetic drawback.

I'd love to have Witches in TS4 and maybe a bit more expanded . .Wiccan elements would be cool . .different rituals . .could be a new self-employed career to get in to, introducing the witchcraft career where sims go and ask for different trinkets, spells that can have a good or adverse effect on them . .introduce different rituals from different cultures.
  • DannydanboDannydanbo Posts: 18,057 Member
I want witches and think we will get them soon, but I do not think there will be any type of game play that promotes any one religious belief and, as I understand it, Wicca is a religion. So, I wouldn't count on any pagan rituals that might offend a large number of the other players. What you have your sims do in your game is one thing, but I don't see the devs adding "rituals" into the game. Just give me good old witches, well developed like vampires were and everyone should be happy and able to tell whatever stories they want to tell.

It would be a great way to flesh it out tho. And I am not saying go all out but adding elements would be cool. In previous games there were spells they could do I am just saying adding like stones or gems or other trinkets would be nice and more immersive.

I didn't know this thread existed when I created my own one:
    https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/913471/lets-start-discussing-witches/p1

Just going to link our two threads together. Counting them as one would mean 14 pages full of ideas. One page has 20 comments each, so that's 280 ideas! (theoretically, it's more likely to be around 200)

I would love them to have an alternative form as a crow and a cat as well. <3
After all witchs aren´t that important for me. Need my werewolfs back and elfe ears, after that witches would be nice.

I agree. Witches have always been my favorite supernatural to play with.

I would like it if they did witches again too! I want them to give us a Supernatural ep where we can make lots of different things too, not just the usual supernatural Sims, not just Witches, werewolves, fairies and we already have ghosts, vampires and aliens! But other stuff too, let us use our imagination too! I know a lot of people want to be able to have elves too! But they also need to make it so we can turn it all off, if we want, like they did with Sims 3, that was very good! As far as what kind of Witches, I agree with the idea of a kind of Harry Potter type thing for sure or even do something like this show they have on SyFy called the Magicians, instead! Where they even have schools of wizardry/magic, where can go either as a child or later as an adult too!

I want witches, too. As for an animal form, I wouldn't be opposed to it. A cat would be good since they are connected to cats and with vampires turning into bats and werewolves, hopefully, turning into wolves, a witch turning into a cat could work.

Occults in the Sims 4 - WITCHES

First of all I'd like to say that spells to clean the house or cook are pointless since we've got maids .
I'd love to see ****** witches like in American Horror Story Coven where witches are actually powerful . I also would love it if witches could actually kill other sims with their powers and not just play pointless pranks on them .

    1 - POWERS

In the Sims 1 you could find crystals all over your garden that gave you special abilities like levitation , etc … Instead of spells why not bring back actual powers ?
It would be cool if witches in the Sims 4 could develop their powers depending on their personalities and emotions . They would unlock more powers as they level up and practice witchcraft . Most witches developing up to 4 abilities so that all of them are different from one another . Also there could some sort of challenge or life time reward for one of them to have all the powers and become Queen . Each power would count as a skill having many stages and you'd have to level up as much as possible to master it .
PS . Not a fan of wands would prefer them just using their hands for casting magic .

    examples :

TELEKINESIS ( to make furniture levitate or break , also to blast other Sims )
PYROKINESIS ( to kill other Sims or just to give them a good scare )
INVISIBILITY ( allowing you to steal from other Sims without them knowing )
    MIND CONTROL
PROTECTIVE SHIELD ( to lock rooms in your house and keep away unwanted Sims / protect your Sims from magic / protect specific objects from being stolen etc … )
RAIN CLOUD ( from the Sims 1 to put out fires , could also have a feature to conjure a mini thunder storm to electrocute a Sim )
    ICE BREATH ( freeze a Sim )
TELEPATHY ( to talk to Sims , animals and plants )
    RESURRECTION
METAMORPHOSIS ( to turn into another Sim or an animal , a black panther for example )
LEVITATION ( replacing walking when wanted )
    INSTANT TELEPORTATION
ENCHANTING ( making objects come alive like in the Sims 1 )
ASTRAL PROJECTION ( allowing you turn into a ghost when your physical body is asleep to accomplish more tasks without wasting any energy )
AURA MANIPULATION ( Control other Sims emotions )

    2 - ALCHEMY

Alchemy was one of my favorite features in the Sims 3 Supernatural . I'd like to see the following elixirs in the Sims 4 : Love elixir , Immortality elixir , Power Suppressing elixir , Skill draining elixir ( to steal skills from other Sims ) , Hysteria elixir ( to make a Sim lose his mind for a day ) , Weight Loss elixir , Aging elixir , Friendship elixir , Midas Touch , Healing elixir ( if sicknesses are featured in the Sims 4 ) , Memory Erasing elixir ( to erase all bad memories of a Sim ) .

    3 - CHILDREN WITCHES

In the Sims 1 children could cast spells , it wasn't the case in the Sims 3 which was very disappointing … It would be great if they made a come back in the Sims 4 . I would love to see them being able to unlock a power or two depending on their personalities and start leveling up from an early age . It would also be cool if they had a mini Alchemy cauldron with special elixirs for kids .

    4 - FORMING A COVEN

It would be amazing if witches could form a Coven . Each Coven having it's own Queen depending on who has the most powers and magic skills . The Coven could cast more powerful spells that could only be unlocked as a group , spells for Weather Control ( but also spells in the style of the Bewitching Rain as seen in the Sims 3 to drive to whole town mad for a day ) , spells to awaken all of the dead Sims in the town for a night to go and torment regular sims , spells to change all the Sims in your town into animals , etc … A minimum of 3 witches would be needed to form a Coven .

    5 - SPECIAL WITCH SKILLS

I would like to see some more special skills that could only be learnt by witches .

Tarot Reading for example , the Tarot Cards being an actual object you could buy in the store and level up your skills as you practice . This being a divination skill you could also use a Crystal Ball or a Scrying Mirror for the same skill .
Ouija Board , to contact dead family members , etc …
Flying Brooms would make a great comeback if they didn't have to fly over roads , especially so close to the ground , it would be great if they could fly higher in the sky . There could be a special death by flight if your Sim felt .

    6 - WITCH HUNTERS

Another idea would be to bring witch hunters for the Sims 4 , that way witches would have something to fight with other than brain dead zombies . They could be your neighbor , or your friend and you'd always have to watch your back . Witch hunters would be able to kill your witch Sim or abduct him/her therefore developing your defensive powers would be a priority . Witch hunters could also branch out into becoming hunters for all supernatural beings allowing them to kill vampires , etc …

    7 - FAMILIARS

A lot of people have been asking for Familiars to appear in the Sims 4 . In the Sims 3 having a cat or a small pet could boost your magical power , why not make it more interesting ? Birds , cats , snakes , monkeys , tigers would be awesome . They could appear in the form of ghosts , able to appear and disappear at will . They could help the witch Sims to find ingredients , help them learn skills faster , boost their magic and also protect the home .

    These ideas are Awesome!
If Seasons comes back it would be nice to have the option to control the weather!
Rain spells, lightning attacks, blistering sun spells. If Pets come back, I'd like my witch to have a special bond with animals apart from the average sim.

    OMG I need this.
But I prefer if EA keep it organized:
-there should be a skill for witchcraft
    -skill books for witchcraft
-a place to buy your wand and other magical equipment
-perks on other skills (i.e. fast learner in herbalism and gardening)
-the ability to summon the Grimm Reaper and ghosts

It would be nice if there are ordinary humans who just learned magic, and humans who are born with it. For example, two ordinary humans who became witch and warlock through learning magic can conceive a child born with magic.

I would love a Harry Potter themed pack. Just imagine all the Killing Curses I can throw I mean... swish and flick. It will never happen, though. It would be far too complicated to make and add.

Witches and wizards would be a great pack, though. Making potions, drinking experimental potions and gaining new spells that cannot be learned through books, duels! A natural born witch or wizard be more powerful than a witch or wizard that is just learning. It would be great for story.

Witches did come up in a recent pole for Sims 4. I think it was that same pole that the Eco Living was in. The one where Eco Living come out on top in.

    Hey everyone

It's my first time posting here and I tried to read everything you guys posted in this thread already, but wow, it's sooo much. I'm excited to see, however, how much interest there is in witches, and what awesome ideas everybody has! So I liked to share my ideas and opinion as well.
I know reading long posts can be weary, I'll try to make it as short as possible, but I can't promise >.<

(I think it was in another thread about witches, that someone wrote that the devs should focus first on getting the witches and the spell trees/ spell system right, before they add anything else, and while i wholeheartly agree with that, I want to share detailed ideas nonetheless, just for sharing them with you guys, and maybe as references, who knows? I'm just a detail-loving-person, I'm sorry, haha >.<)

Seems, like most people like to have alignments like in sims 2, however... I find this very idk tricky for me maybe? Here's why...

For me, witches are mostely people linked to nature: 'servants of nature' so to say.
Dealing with and protect the balance of nature and the elements. Especially, working with the energy
of this world! O course, there are some who maintain this balance and some abusing their power.
The picture of the 'good' and 'evil' witches like Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West from The
Wizard of Oz does not fit in my understanding at all. Especially the picture of the good witch.
Everything sparkly and white and rainbow-colour-related is more of a fairy thing, imho
However, since lots of people enjoy different types of witches, I hope EA realises it similar to how
they made the CAS-options for vampires. You are able to create a bunch of different styles for your
vampire there and I hope you can do that for witches, too! It was, at any rate, definately featured in
    that survey...
Create witches who look old and evil or youthful and innocent.
(@sunman502 fyi, it was in a survey some time earlier, featuring also dream jobs, fairies and winter vacation  For vacation I'd enjoy some more specific asian or italian location, though...)
To conclude this point, lots of options would be nice, but I do not want them to force on us, wether
to join one alignment or the other, like in sims 2.
I just do not want to be forced to choose sides (even if 'neutral' is available).

Still talking about good and evil, wouldn't it be possible to integrate it through skills, maybe?

For those, who want to have goodies or baddies, focus on a specific skill! There could be three
different skills for witches to learn, whereas one is more "positive" magic, one more "neutral" and
one more "negative". Every witch should be able to learn all of them, but could use only those, who
they want to. To quote Sirius Black: "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is
the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.
    "
Again: Do not force us to choose either the one side or the other and don't force stupid light and
darkness stereotype witchies on us, pleeaase :confounded:

    That's that!
Now, which is most important for me is nature! There are lots of things related to nature I like to see in this game pack!

    1. I want witches to create potions with all kinds of harvestables, so that they get more value
in the game - seems like many others like that as well, which is great^^

    2. If there is a new world, I'd love for it to be a forest type world similar to Granite Falls but more
mystic and without any roads like the island from Windenburg. This would be ideal, so that witches
that live there can be private if they want, but maybe there is a special area, (like a hill or something)
witch stones like Stonehenge and a fire in the middle or something, as a meeting point!!!

    3. PLANTS!!!! For outdoors and indoors. Wild, beautiful plants! Big bushes, ivy-ish twiners (i know
that there are lots of these in Vampires, but... PLANTS!), wild flowers, mystic flowers... and more!
(I would like to have small bunches of tulips and daffodils and others to create fields of them, but
maybe this would not be the right pack for them... the nature in this pack should be more wild imho)

    4. Spirit Trees, Witch Trees, the name does not really matter, but I imagine beautiful old, strong, maybe
knobby trees, which have faces. Examples are the Heart Trees in the Game of Thrones series or
Grandmother Willow from Disney's Pocahontas. I would love to have two different tree species of them,
each in a bunch of different colours, like white wood and red leaves (as in GoT), or beige wood and light
green leaves, or darker or completely different. They would be found in outdoor plants, but are also objects,
with which witches can interact. Well, like talking to them, as to the talking toilet! Or learning from
their wisdom (i.e., learning magic skill). This would be sooooooo awesome!!! There are lots of
possibilities and they would be such a nice extra! (As I said, I like details^^')

    5. Some kind of spiritual fountains would be nice, too.

    6. Some clothes and other CAS-items should reflect nature as well. I'd like an outfit with patches
or organic materials as decor. Also, long dresses and robes would be nice as well. And one pair
    of witchy boots!

Guess that's already a lot, huh? :flushed: Well, I'll make a cut here, then
Hope, some of you like my ideas. I'm excited to read more in this forum; all the ideas are really pretty awesome.
Wish you all a happy Easter!

Wicca is a religion, a real-world one with actual adherents. It no more belongs in Sims than any other religion does. There are even Wiccan campus and hospital chaplains in my country. I'd like to see a witchcraft/magic pack steer clear of stepping into common real-world religious practice territory and stick to fiction territory.

Hi everybody! I really like the ideas you guys have come up with so far! So here's a few of my own ideas:

    - Witchery could be inherited or gained via studying under a master witch, similar to vampires
    - When I think of witches, I think of them being very family-based, with each generation figuring out different spells, powers, potions, etc... and passing them down via a grimoire or spellbook of some sort. So instead of just having a stock of spells to unlock, I think it would be cool to create your own spells by mixing and matching ingredients/other spells and then passing your unique spellbook down through the family(E.g. if you mixed a water spell with a boundary spell you would make a moat).
    - Different traits for witches that boost different skills. So your witch could be a potion-master, giving them a boost in potions, or a animal lover, giving them a boost with familiars, etc... If we end up getting seasons, we could even have traits like "Winter Witch" or "Summer Witch" where their powers are more effective depending on the season.
    - When aliens or vampires are found out in the sims 4, the reaction is pretty mild. With aliens there's only a chance the sim that found out will be angry for a few hours, while with vampires my sim literally bit someone in the middle of a crowd and there was no reaction. My idea is that if a witch is found out, there's a chance the sim will either: a. Get very angry for a few hours and the positive relationship turns to negative(e.g. if the sim had 75% friendship with them, it would turn to -75%). This would be to simulate the betrayal of them not telling the other sim or messing with them without their knowledge, which would be worse the closer the sims were. b. Their relationship grows stronger, as now they are bonded by a shared secret. c. Scenario a happens, except instead of keeping it to themselves they stir up a mob, which will set fire to/destroy your house or will try to kill/abduct the witch sim, like a more disorganized, frenzied version of @MickaelP's witch hunters idea, which would be very cool to have alongside this.
    - Finally, as for the clothing and build mode objects I think a nature theme mixed with medieval would fit the intrigue and wildness of the witches themselves.

This is my first post, so I hope I did a good job. What do you guys think of my ideas?
    P.S.: Happy Easter!

I totally agree with this. Adding any religion to the game will be a mistake. A slippery slope as they say.
