Game Freezes After Placing Lot

Hi all, so I recently encountered a strange problem for me. In my game (any save at all, I tried it with brand new saves too) if I place a lot, the game will freeze. The process that I go through is: I select an empty lot in Edit Town mode, select a community lot, place said lot, it gives me options of rotating/moving/etc. but I don't need to so I simply click accept. Then the screen goes "blank". The lot is still there, I can move my mouse and see it moving, hear the music, go to a different window the music will fade as though it's running correctly but there's no Processing screen, which I'll gladly take instead of whatever its doing. At least I knew it was working even if the processing screen took a while. Now there's just nothing. I was staring at this lot hoping the process screen would pop up but it never did. So I Ctrl+Alt+Del, bring up the task manager, kill the game. This has been going on since December of last year, I never had this problem before then. Matter of fact, I never had any major problems I couldn't fix on my own before this on my laptop. Scouring the internet has prove that I have yet to find a solution to this. Can anyone pleeeease help me? I'm going crazy since I need to do this for my legacy. Please! DxDiag below.

Hi there. I see two potential issues.

One is that this computer is a laptop with an integrated Intel HD graphics chip and only 4 GB of RAM that really isn't meant for a graphics processor intensive game. If it's supposed to be a model with dual graphics, you haven't provided enough of the dxdiag report for that to be revealed (looks like not, though). Although the issue could be with the particular world and lots in question, I would have to say that not having enough graphics power and RAM would be more likely to be getting in the way of lot placement here. If you are playing all EPs (especially Pets and Seasons), your processor even though it can turbo is 1.7 GHz and will not be strong enough to handle certain barrages of instructions the game sends it.

The other issue, is the game installed on C or D? Your D drive is an external and is too low on free space to be running the game if that is where it is. Obviously disregard this part if the game is installed on and running off of C.

My game is installed on C and my post was apparently over 5k words long if I had posted the full DxDiag, I figured just post the most important? Unless that wasn't enough info. But I've had this laptop for 3 years running the game with all EP's just fine. Only recently has it started doing this.. maybe I used too much RAM? Is that possible? I started up a super small custom world with only 1 placeable lot, placed a super small lot that would fit there, did the same thing. I know my computer can handle the info being thrown at it with that. The world was empty. Currently I'm simply trying to place a school lot from Aurora Skies (Since it's partial rabbithole) in Twinbrook. I'm thinking of combing through my CC to see if a problem lies in there.

The way to post a dxdiag here is to split it up into multiple responses with copy/paste. They are all way too long to fit into one response. Or use pastebin.com if that's easier, we can read them that way too.

The game can utilize just under 4 GB of RAM. You only have 4 GB of RAM, and a big chunk of that is needed to run Windows. So how much RAM is too much on a system that doesn't have all the game can use and might reach for is going to be an individual thing. As you (I still think) do not have a dedicated graphics card, that will put more stress on RAM and processor. You don't have any RAM or processor power to spare.

But yes, CC could also be a factor. You could try the small world test on a clean game folder -- no content or installed worlds or saves at all (pull your TS3 user game folder out of Documents to spawn a new one, you can put the current game folder back in place later after the test).

But regardless of all of the above, I'm sorry but your system is not designed to play TS3 with all EPs (do you have all of them?) and is underpowered for it. I do not mean to be insulting or to be contradicting what you are seeing. That you have had good results with it thus far is fortunate, certainly not unheard of as player experiences on low to mid-range systems vary, but not necessarily to be relied upon either especially as the machine ages.

@igazor this laptop does not come with a second video card. It's low end designed for browsing the web and light computer tasks.

@lomai Unfortunately your laptop does not meet requirements to run the game. You can't upgrade the laptop hardware. You are stuck with the specs you buy. Do you have another computer to play on? If not I suggest investing in a computer that meets requirements to run the game. We can help you find a computer but your looking at $600-700 for a desktop and $900 USD for a laptop depending on sales. Prices vary in other countries

@igazor I'm still getting use to this new forum, will use paste.bin in the future if it comes a time. You're not insulting at all, I just hate to buy another laptop after I spent $500 on this one because my desktop wasn't up to Sims 3 standards. But I'll do it if I have to.

@phoebebebe13 I was looking at another type of laptop but I'm not entirely sure if this meets the requirements, I really have no problem buying another one (Might take a while) but I'll do it, just to play lol. The laptop I was recently looking at is an Asus ROG Gaming Laptop; processor- Intel Core i7 6700HQ, Memory- 12GB, Hard Drive- 1TB, Graphics- Nvidia GTX 970M 3GB. Or is that one also not up to meet the task? I haven't looked at desktops but I would love some suggestions.

@lomai That laptop would be fine. You can also PM user chesterbigbird http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/profile/chesterbigbird She is a build expert . To go custom desktop would be even better. Laptops are weaker than desktop for gaming. You also can't change hardware in a laptop. Your stuck with the specs you buy. If your not opposed to desktop I would go that route. I don't recommend laptops for gaming unless you absolutely need a laptop

Newegg charges no tax outside CA, TN and NJ . This should run the whole game on ultra should you go off the shelf

Amazon is cheaper for Monitors should you need one

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883230168&cm_re=gtx_1050ti_desktop-_-83-230-168-_-Product

You would have to get a USB wifi router since desktops do not come with wifi like a laptop should you need wifi

@phoebebebe13 I will definitely be checking out that desktop more in depth. It had me at 8GB, and the cheaper price. I'm not a super tech expert so building my own pc always scared me a little, even with other people's help. Since I'm not super confident in my own abilities yet, buying the desktop you suggested will be my best bet for now. Thank you for all of your insight! It was really helpful.

@loami I have a custom cyberpower where you can pick out your own certified hardware. Chester can do custom configurations on line and you just buy the configuration she puts together. Doing that is better than buying off the shelf where they use generic hardware. Cyberpower charges no tax outside Cali . Your welcome :)

Just to clarify a little further... Chester will put together a part list for you through cyberpowerpc and cyberpowerpc is the one who builds it.
