Thank you all for your support of the guide I contacted @SimGuruDrake multiple times about getting this stickied but she didn't reply guess maybe the thread doesn't qualify for stickiness yet (maybe it's too new?). I also wish it was stickied so new members could see it at first glance. I also wish the criteria for stickiness were more transparent so I new why the guide doesn't qualify... maybe someday ^^

It would be amazing to know why threads get stickied and others don't. Hm...
@SilentWolf101 I agree. Maybe I'll ask SimGuruDrake about it but I doubt she'd reply as she hasn't before. But there's this idea floating around for creating a formal petition on the reordering of stickied threads (not even necessarily this thread but like the new challenge list or mastressalitas story index). So that might be happening.
@Julyvee94 I would fully support the Index and this thread being stickied. @SimGuruDrake I hope you're able to get something like that to work out, new people to our creative corner need resources that actually mean something at the top, not "story of the month" that hasn't been updated since May of 2016 and the Gazette one that hasn't had any traffic since July of 2016.
Also - lists that haven't been updated by the original poster in forever shouldn't be stickied anymore. I would be in favor of an active community member in good standing with a required number of posts being a moderator in this forum area. Then we as a community could decide and maintain our stickies. I think this thread, a list of challenges and the Index should be top three for stickies.
There are three (kind of) threads that I really, really want stickied that are not already stickied: 1) This thread. 2) Mastress' Stories And Legacies Index. 3) The currently updated sims challenge list(s) for any and all sims games. The sims legacy thread, yes, that is a good one to be stickied.
@CitizenErased14 and I have contacted @SimGuruDrake on Twitter and she said she'll look into the sticky thread matter so let's hope something can be done ^^ not only about stickying this thread but also getting the new updated challenge list and mastressalita's story index stickied
This guide is now cross-listed on one of the very first posts on the Stories and Legacies Index as I added a Community Links section there, so hopefully that will help get it more exposure and folks will remember if they can't find it here they can find it over there as well! Will continue crossing fingers about the abysmal Sticky situation for both these fantastic resource threads.
I also mentioned @mastressalita "s index in the first post now. Under "What is simlit?" I linked to for people who need some examples of simlit It was already in the interesting threads list
This is a very awesome index! I'm currently writing about my legacy family over on Wordpress. I'm writing more as an observer, It's as much about my experience playing a Sims 4 legacy challenge as anything
thank you @GeekMonkey34B21 writing as an observer can be a lot of fun! I do it myself in my neighborhood rotation It's very non-pressuring writing style. Hope you have fun!
I just want to say that this thread inspired me to go to finally play my Legacy a little and have fun with it, even though I'm tired, and might not do some suggested activities tonight. I am excited to check out those interesting threads which @Julyvee94 posted here. I really want to immerse myself more in the community!
I searched Simlit guides and this is the first thing that popped up! After playing Sims for 17 years I'm starting to get really into the lit and this is super helpful. Thanks for putting it together!
We got the new thread stickied! I contacted simgurudrake again. She apologized that it took so long a stickied a few of my suggestions today including this thread
Also I am glad it's helpful @librarianjane that really means a lot
Hi everyone Since I'm simlit guide has been stickied, I'm looking to expand it with inputs from you! Specifically I'd like 2 more quotes on questions that only have one answer so far.
Specifically I'm looking for your insights on these questions that a new simlit writer could ask
- How long should my posts be?
For this question I'm looking for any kind of opinion/insight you have on it. It doesn't have to be dependent on the quote I already have in the guide. Just say what you honestly think. This can be either reader's or writer's perspective or both. What length do you prefer as a reader? How do you feel about a chapter's length when writing? Do you shorter more frequent updates or longer but less frequent updates? Or any other thoughts you might have
- How often should I update?
For the update question I'd like a reader's perspective since the quote I already have is a writer's perspective. So what do you prefer in terms of the update schedule when reading a story? How do you feel if the writer doesn't stick to a schedule? How do you feel about irregular updates?
If you want to share your opinion, PM me with your quote for the guide. I'd prefer submissions by somewhat experienced writer's since this is supposed to be a guide FOR new people. Not saying you need to have a story completed or 100+ chapters under your belt, but preferably you should not just have started. This is just to make sure your quote is credible and has a solid foundation
If I receive multiple submissions, I'll choose 1 or 2 per question for the guide.
Looking forward to your insights!
And Thank you @CathyTea I'm glad this can be an even more helpful resource for new member's now.
