    What patch 1.69 did.

Good - Made it compatible with Origin and added where you could select Stuff/Expansion Packs you wanted to use.
Bad - Made mods that I use not work. And like other games I had through Origin, will probably require continually need when available if you want to play game. Example Sims 2.

As many of the mods I use, the creators no longer support their mods. So every time they might do a patch, there is a chance of breaking a mod.

I removed the Origin version of Sims 3 and went back to the Disc Version. That way I know my game will be playable the way I want to play the Game, not the way Origin wants me to play the Game. Sorry for the long vent.

Wait....could that be why the 21-day pregnancy mod wouldn't work at all for me? I followed instructions through and through, yet the mod didn't work at all.

    Hi everyone!

If you want to adjust your pregnancies, you can do so with the Nraas retuner mod. Instructions are on the website how to find the tuning files and adjust the length. It works with 1.69 and I don't think it requires any other module. The Nraas staff are very helpful if you have questions. If I can do it anyone can. I changed mine to 10 day pregnancies with adjustments in when the notice shows, nausea, bump, walk and labor starts and then how long before the delivery. You just have to adjust it in hours, which for me is challenging math....lol  Back to lurking!

Well, "Steel stomach" reward helps a lot regarding nausea, though they apparently don'T completely go away. Still that's an improvement, as, otherwise, my pregnant sims were always sick, two or three times a day, plus those back pains...

So I finally got an add after almost two weeks.... edit: I refreshed the page and I have gotten a few more. This whole think just stinks though, I was going to spend January saving for the greenhouse!

@jg2342ar Well, at least the best deal for the greenhouse isn't up until March, so hopefully you'll make it by then
    Don't worry about it ;)

Whoops! I did that thing again where I forget to actually type responses. It must be my old age!

@Me1620 and @ZeeGee – thanks so much for the wonderful words two weeks ago about the work I'm doing. I'm not writing a whole textbook yet (one day!), but it is a full chapter (about 6000 words or so) of brilliant Erin thinking (or that's what I'm saying it is, anyway). That's all been submitted now and the editor has gotten back to me with surprisingly high praise, so I'm feeling very accomplished today. I might even take the day to relax and play with my poor, neglected Simmies to celebrate!

I'm definitely hoping one of my next academic projects can be about Sims. Imagine a whole collection of essays about the series! Hehe, that would be the ultimate Simmer accomplishment!

Congratulations! I'm actually editing a volume now myself. What discipline are you in? My supervisor and I were recently discussing dissertation ideas and one that we discussed was actually the Sims.

@calents – you're editing a volume yourself?! That's very, VERY impressive! Congratulations to you, too! I'm technically journalism/media studies and game studies, but I prefer to describe myself as a general "humanities" since I have supervisors from literary studies, sociology and journalism. What discipline are you in? I'd love for us to cross paths some time in the future to work on a Sims-related collection—that would be so nifty, and what better place to meet Sims-interested colleagues?

@ZeeGee – thanks so much! I really appreciate how supportive you are. I managed to squeeze in some building time in Sunset Valley again, but I've decided to take the first week of March off completely so I can Sims non-stop! I'll be sure to chat here on the forums a bit more during that week.

@kellycot1 Hi Erin! Nice to 'see' you and sure hope you can get more Sims time in. I still try for at least an hour at day, even if that hour is reading forums about sims.

Yeah, we're working on a volume for our state's bicentennial. I'm in the social sciences, folklore/anthropology/area studies. Working together on a Sims-related collection would be awesome! :)

Update on duration and starting times of deals. I just saw a deal turn over. The deal started at 9 minutes after the hour. There was still time left in the previous deal. The duration of the current deal (Greenhouse) was shown as 2 hours and 3 minutes.

    Hey y'all! :)

Another irregular visit :flushed: Love seeing the great deals being snagged recently but those tales of <hushed tones>paying full price</hushed tones> were quite terrifying! :anguished:

I've always been far too 'frugal' but have certainly paid real money and 'more than I needed too' before I discovered the joys of the DD and, especially, CYS but I try to console myself that whatever I paid, I have got at least that much pleasure from using it. ... probably! :)

And as for our literary alumni, awesome work @kellycot1 and @calents, so good to have friends, virtual or otherwise, that are making important cultural contributions. And what a collaboration that would be!

I recall, somewhere on the forums, including I think a DD thread, someone was working on a psychology thesis (possibly) that playing computer games, including The Sims, had a positive effect on a persons mood. Goes to prove that anyone and everyone, from any walk of life, can play and love The Sims. :)

Just got the Loads of Laundry set for 277 simpoints. I was debating back and forth in my head but then I considered that it's the cheapest it'll ever be in this rotation and I jotted it down as a DD item I wanted for sure. Now, just patiently awaiting 478.

I feel like I've been away from here for sooo long! (Home buying in OE... I'll probably disappear again when packing/moving commences.) Hope everyone's been doing well.

@Jude525 thanks for commiserating with me about the unfortunate code entering issues with Monte Vista :( . Just wanted to let you guys know that I opened up a ticket with EA and they told me something about needing to wait 24 hours and when that didn't work I re-opened the ticket and the customer service rep told me that my code was no good and gave me a new one -- so, problem is solved. I noticed that the new code has an expiration date (like it must be entered into the store by sometime in, I think, 2022 or something) so I'm almost wondering if my old code sat in a warehouse of the amazon seller for so long that it expired or something. Anyway, Monte Vista seems cool and my daughter now asks to "play Sim Italy" :) . If anyone else has this issue, I would totally recommend contacting EA because they were pretty helpful (so helpful that I might open a new ticket to see if I can get Roaring Heights in Origin since I bought it, have it in the store, but do not have it on my Origin profile... but that's a story for another day!!).

Also, on the ad front, I seem to get a couple hundred points worth of ads (or ads for like 10 minutes) and then no more the rest of the day. So, things are moving slow over here too. It makes me debate on whether or not I want to own the store or if I should just buy my last venue (that library meh) and then call it quits.

    Hey y'all! :)

Okay, LOVE this!!!! I am from Rhode Island, one of the original states in the northeastern part of the US. "Y'all" comes from the southeastern states. I don't know where I picked it up, but I've been saying it my whole adult life. Seeing it used by someone across the pond is just too precious! I also say "howdy," which is common in the south and the west. but not here in the northeast.

Of course, it isn't uncommon for me to drop British phrases, but I know that comes from years of Doctor Who and other BBC exports. I remember being teased, in a friendly way, in middle school for using the phrase "I haven't the foggiest" and I'm certain I picked that up from a BBC production since that is not used anywhere in the states.

Oh, BTW, howdy everyone. Been MIA from the boards. Life is keeping me busy, though I couldn't tell you where the time is being spent. Except that I actually spent the entire weekend socializing away from the computer, which I'm rather proud of given that I'm supposed to be playing the heck out of the new laptop to make sure I like it enough to keep it.

On that, the game is running smoothly with all sliders at full; lots load quickly, and most animations are smooth. Although I've had a couple installation hiccups. Had to sideload a couple worlds by moving the .sims3package file directly into the downloads folder from my Mac because the disc install process kept failing. But besides failing, it also broke my ability to sign on in-game and in the launcher. Been trying for 3 days to get help from Origin to fix that. Spent two hours on with them the first day, then waited for a call back from a specialist, which apparently came five hours later while I was eating dinner. Called back yesterday and was chided for not answering the phone during dinner. Was told to expect another call back, which never happened. I've been waiting on a chat window for about 30 minutes now. It's going nowhere.

I think I'm just gonna try a full delete/re-install and do the sideloads from the start to see if I can avoid the issue in the first place. But if I sign into the game from a different Windows user account I don't have the problem. Can anyone suggest some temp or cache files I can try to delete before going to that extreme?

*sigh* I've said it before, I just want to play my game.

Oh, and missed mother Russia Wednesday because I couldn't sign in while it was up. Since they made me change my password, always their first solution to everything, I thought I'd maybe forgotten my new password. But it worked fine ten minutes after the deal changed. So now my scheduled date for having everything from the DD has moved from March 28 to April 24. Not the most traumatic thing in my life, but still....

@Dame_Judi_Dench I didn't see your post until after mine posted. I love Monte Vista. My grandparents were from Tuscany and the folks at EA did an excellent job capturing the lighting and charm, albeit in a very tiny format. The entire town is more the size of a villa than any of the walled towns that you'll find in Tuscany. I play whenever I get the urge to be back in Lucca.

But I have a question. You, and others, have mentioned having worlds registered in your Origin account. What do you mean by that? Do you have access to downloading your worlds within the Origin client? None of my store bought worlds are registered in the store as owned, although they are registered in my profile where the icons for owned worlds/EPs/SPs are full color vs the shadow icons for non-owned ones. I don't know at this point if my codes are recognized as valid anymore since the install process fails when the launcher tries to sign in. I'm very grateful at this point for the TimeMachine backup system on my Mac. I went back to an August backup and pulled the .sims3package files for those worlds from the Sims 3 folder and used them to sideload the worlds. I've put backups of these files in my Google Drive for safe keeping. :) It makes me wonder if these files are not protected with DRM or if the DRM is encoded and recognized as belonging to my account.

I'm from Missouri and I use "Haven't the foggiest"quite a bit as well. So your not the only one in the States @Jude525 . (I've watched Doctor Who and probably some of the same exports as you (use to love getting to watch Blakes7 on PBS when I was home sick from school and during the summer months.)

I know that I don't have as much experience with computers as most of you but as for not being able to sign in while in-game, I've been having the same problem on and off and the only way I've been able to fix it for short periods is to empty the cache in Internet Explorer. I NEVER use IE any more (found other browsers I like better) but that is the ONLY thing that has helped me so far.
