Is it possible to save sims without uploading them to the gallery? I would really like not be forced to upload my creations to the gallery since I use so much CC in my game, but still be able to backup my sims and lots.
(assuming you talk about Sims 4)
You can just click the Save button in CAS, then use the button to the bottom right (not the Upload one) to save the household. Now it's saved in your libary. If you want to upload the household later then you can click on it in the library's list and click the Upload button at any time.
I know I can save them to my library without uploading them. I said I want to take backups. A backup is something you save on a different location. I want to backup the files in the case something happened to my game I would still be able to recover the original file from a separate memory stick or hard drive.
Hello
The files of the sims and builds that you have saved to your library are located in your documents-electronic arts-sims 4-tray folder.
It would be good to make a backup copy of your tray folder and place it on an external drive.

You can save the 5 files that appear in your Tray folder when you save. Put them in a .Zip file. That's what I do to share my sims, since I also use a ton of CC for my sims and have gallery/online stuff turned off 99% of the time when I play.
When I wanted to delete my tray folder and start fresh (using the in-library option to delete leaves files behind, and can slow your game down if you make/remake/delete too much) I used the tray importer to save my favorite sims etc. It zips them up nice and tidy, with a clear name, and I keep them in a backups folder on another drive. It's very helpful.
