This post was helpful thanks, I thought it was dependant on how long you have been on Sims for. Since it's been 2 years I was confused as to why I couldn't join in member things haha
Sorry folks, bit of a newb here. How on earth do you gain points effectively? I've got a few badges but I joined to share my legacy challenge and that's a little hard right now
oh man.. im gonna run out of things to say if im gonna have to post like a maniac LOL
I do think 50 points can be kinda hard, especially if you don't have much of something "special" to say... no one's gonna like your "haha that's really cool" comment
Picture gone.
Got badges for being a member since 2009 or something, post a new one and the number of posts drops from a couple of hundreds to just 63. And the status is set at "New Member".
Way to go EA...
Ah well, will have to get used to it, I guess.
I agree it is terrible in my mind, if they wanted to combat the trolling them they could have just banned people!
Go play some of the games in the off topic forum.

If your posts are good, people will like them or find them awesome, and you'll be a member in no time!

@zkettell: I fully understand the need to battle trolling, spambots and the like. And, alas, banning is only done after (some of) the damage is done. Better to try and keep the nasties out up front. Or at least make it somewhat more difficult for those bots and their ilk.
My comment was more about the new system losing posts count and (member) status info. But I understand your desire to be a full member, so — just as a help-you — I 'liked' your post.
I'm not sure if this is the correct place or not, but I can't seem to start a post. Is that because I don't have enough points?
Hello @Kris_Aingeal
Welcome to forums! There is usually a blue new discussion button at the top right hand side of the screen in the forum sections. But new discussion threads though may have been restricted for new members. You may not be able to start a new thread until you become a full member. This occurs sometimes, especially at weekends and at holiday times.
You need to have 50 points and 30 posts before you can become a full member and can then post pictures, have a signature, edit posts , post links and change your profile picture. This thread explains about it. http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/770609/member-or-new-member-everything-you-need-to-know
Thank you so much! I apparently haven't been around in a long while. Last time I remember, I had a lot of posts and all that, but seems that things have changed. I won't get in trouble for going around, reading and commenting, will I? Want to make sure I am not being seen as spammy!

Hello @Kris_Aingeal Simmere are encouraged to read and comment on threads! It is what the forums are about. It is good to share simming experiences, helpful tips, and questions with fellow simmers. It is not spamming at all

It's more to combat worse stuff than trolls.
It's to slow down the spambots, and gorepack attacks, and stuff like that.
