Wedding Bug

I'm having two of my sims get married at the park and every time I either click on the arch or the other sim to get them to get married they just rest and do nothing. Nothing I can do can get these sims to actually get married. I've reset my game a couple of times and even with the new patch nothing has changed, they still won't get married.

There's at least one mod that's been conflicting with the game since March 26 and causing that problem. Try pulling out *all* your mods and trying again.

I don't have any mods, and I am getting a similar issue, though a bug that I think it causing it. Sim A cannot use elope/plan wedding with Sim B, because it says Sim B is an employee of Sim A (which isn't true, I checked all of Sim A's employees). So Sim B had to propose to Sim A. Figuring B could plan the wedding, which worked, I did that, but when I went to the Marry option on the arch, nothing happened. Tried eloping, same thing. When they got engaged, one Sim sent a text to Sim A saying, "I heard you're engaged to Sim Z, congrats." Sim Z was an employee, so A fired Z, same issue. Could just marry Z I suppose, but I kind of designed B to eventually marry A.

I don't have any mods, but when my Sims got married, the cake was the problem, first the bride ate it, another was made, the groom ate it, another was made and I couldn't get the Groom to cut it and eat the first slice. So the wedding bombed, big time. This is since the last Origin update and new extension, Glamour was installed.

Other simmers have found that it helps if the caterer or someone else has cooked the wedding cake, and not the sims who are getting married themselves. Make sure that you have placed a wedding topper on the cake and that it remains on the cake .

i can't elope or get married at the arch. no mods.

is it because i'm trying to married two "played household" sims?

i haven't tried using a cake with the topper. i'll see if that works.

any help, advice would be greatly appreciated.

Were your sims able to propose to each other? Did you get a message that they can't get married because one of them is employed by another? Did they promise themselves to each other when a teen?

i was able to propose and they are engaged.

i did get the message that they can't get married because one of them is employed by the other. they don't work in the same career field though. i got that message when adding a wedding topper to a cake and trying to get them married with a cake.

neither were teens. they both started the game as played young adults.

Other simmers are receiving the same issue about being employed by the other,when trying to get married.

i went to that thread on the AHQ EA site you posted. saw a comment there about one of the sims having girlfriends/boyfriends. that may be my problem and one of the sims has several boyfriends. i'll see if breaking up with them fixes the problem.

The elope thing only works when you are not in a group with the other sim and a wedding arch is not present. The Wedding Arch only works with the wedding party, and if the get married is greyed out in the arch hovor the mouse over the greyed out and it will say why its grayed out. Also the patch from before City Living only allows you to add topper at the counter and cute cake on the counter, when in most weddings its done at a special table in the reception hall. I think City Living broke it on the tables, or maybe Dine Out did, I just can't remember. Also if the wedding arch is facing the wrong way it won't work. Also I think the wedding arch needs needs to be moved away from the wall to work, or an object or sim is in the way, or the groom or the bride did not show up yet. Also if they came because of a food card table of some type of service you need to dismiss them first. If they have a restaurant job you need to dismiss them from the restaurant, because they are not allowed to have it as a playable character. If they are the only one with that job at the restaurant than you need hire a new person to take his place. A restaurant protects itself.

whew! that was a real pain to fix.

the serial romantic was the problem in my case. as soon as she "broke up" or "just became friends" with her 24 boyfriends, she was able to get married.

Sid, i don't have the dine out expansion. i was able to cut the cake on the dining room table in their home. so i'm guessing the dine out expansion bugged the ability to cut the cake on a table. i do have the city living expansion.

It is good that you were able to work out the cause of your issue, and that your sim is now able to get married. I am sorry though that it took you a while to fix it.
