@simgeek79 I actually don't know how to use the calculator. So any help you can offer would be awesome. Honestly until you gifted me those items I didn't own anything from that set. I was looking to see which sets were coming up in the next week and realized that so I grabbed all the cheapest stuff from the set and threw it on the wishlist in hopes that some kind simmer could help me get the price down. I've gotten several with the green download button but in all honesty it is mostly luck and me guessing, turns out I'm pretty good guesser. ^_^

It would be my pleasure to help you. It sounds like you're familiar with the Daily Deal (DD) Rotation and Sales Help thread in the Sims 3 Store General Discussion forum since you know what sets are coming up. I can't stress enough what an amaaazing resource it is. Me1620 has put so many great tricks and tips on the first few pages in addition to the Awesome DD Spreadsheet. If you haven't already, you should also check out the Cascade thread and the Love Kids Stuff thread as well.
Here is the link to the Calculator Once on the web page, click on "How to Use this Calculator". Be sure to scroll down to see the example she uses. Essentially you just need to enter three numbers (1) The Regular Set Cost ; (2) The Daily Deal Price and (3) your Current CYS Price .
So for example, Homecoming:
Daily Deal Price: 779
Regular Price: 1900
Your CYS: Enter what it says on your screen for that particular set
I'm not sure how much I gave you, but let's say the items brought your set price down to 1400. When I enter "779"; "1900" and "1400" in their respective fields, the last box shows that the Daily Deal will only cost you 391 points. The more items you are given, the lower that number will go. The key is to get just enough gifts to put you over the edge and not with a high negative number or that means you were overgifted. By punching in random numbers in the CYS field, you can see what your CYS should be to get the best deal. When I entered a CYS of 1000 it showed that the set would cost you -9, which equals FREE!
Let me know what your CYS is and I can double check it for you plus send you a few things to help it along if you need it
I could go on and on about the DD thread. When I first started here, we hardly got any ads and had to buy sim points to get stuff. I shudder at how much I've spent here. Unfortunately a lot of people don't get ads so I like to help where I can and help those who have an abundance of ads/points own the store faster so they can help those less fortunate.

Wow again @simgeek79 and thank you. I used the calculator and followed your easy to understand instructions and it says that I will be paying 456 when it comes up. My CYS price is 1465 at this time. This will definitely be handy. I am going to crunch some numbers and rearrange my wishlist a bit to make sure that I don't waste anyone's points. Happily my guestimation of what I thought I would owe wasn't all that far off, I guessed around 500sp so I think I'm getting it. ^_^ Still I prefer precision. I've removed some things from my wishlist already because I know that I can get the set for "Free" now and I've been trying to use the sites you linked to but somehow I never found the calculator. YAY! Thank you!
I'm also trying to get the Fanciful Fashion & Hairstyle set down just a scotch more so I can grab it while it is on sale since it won't be in the DD rotation. I'm almost there thanks to some very generous simmers but I'm running out of time.
Is there some kind of checklist for the sets out there that can help you keep up with what you already own?
Edit: Apparently there is a personalized DD Spreadsheet but there is a glitch that Me1620 is trying to work out. I'm not good with that sort of thing so I'm going to wait until she gets it sorted and then I'll start using it. In the meantime I've been adding all the items up to about 210 or so into my phone's events calendar. lol There aren't as many as there used to be. But if a checklist existed for the sets that would be cool, if not I'll try to come up with some coherent way of figuring out which sets I still need to finish and how much. There are so many that some get lost in the wayside (like the Homecoming set) and I don't have much, if any, from them.

But kellycot1 created a pdf checklist called the Simdex you might want to use. Plus Me1620 has created some amazing worksheets on her spreadsheet that help you see how much more you need to get a set free. Here are some suggestions that she lists on page one of her thread

Oh, a shame you didn't know before! I've been using the calculator from the beginning, very useful unless a set you want to calculate is on offer because then you don't know your normal complete your set discount for a specific DD. -_-
Regarding a checklist to see what you already know I'm not quite sure what you mean? If you mean so see which pieces of a specific set you already own you should just go to the main page of the set and it marks the things you already own.
BTW, many many thanks @Tamaek for the two outfits! Helps a great deal with Mother Russia! I still have to update my Top 5 on the forum post but I've already updated my wishlist!

Thank you for your gifts @simgeek79 ! They really helped me to bring down prices, the dreams of India set will be a little over 50 sp now when it's on DD! I'm close to getting Viva las vegas to that number too when it's on DD
I downloaded the spreadsheet some time ago and I use colourcodes in it to see what I own and what deals will be good to get. Also I use the Simdex, I think that pdf is especially handy when tracking the 'no part of set'-items. You can tick the items you own in the pdf, so it's really nice!
