Just curious. I'm not running the best rig in the world, and I am slightly careless with my CC but I rarely get crashing. I'm a little perplexed at the people that get crashing after 1/2hr of gameplay (or less). I have a lot of mods and CC too.
I also leave my game in windowed mode, on pause, but generally ON all day long and run background aps like Chrome, Lightroom, maybe other editing programs.
Does your Sims 3 game crash a lot?
The only time I get crashes is when *I* do something bad like.. changing a file around while the game is on (no no) and maybe accidentally trying to install the wrong game CC (a few times... my bad).
I have a PC though, not sure if that makes a difference. Just wondering if others who play the game frequently deal with a lot of crashing.

This computer I specifically purchased for the sims 3 after much research and it runs well. I used to play on a basic computer that I put a graphic card in but it really wasn't enough for this game.
I don't know what it could be. I haven't taken a systematic approach to try and find the issue. It could be:
1. recently installed 16 GB RAM could be bad
2. running a Ramdisk and putting TS3 cache files on it (edit: I stopped using the ramdisk, and so far, no crashes. Still testing though. )
3. my SSD
4. patch 1.69
5. I've been dabbling with my own tuning files and sometimes a little knowledge is a bad thing
6. new mods maybe?
I haven't added any real CC over the last few months. Maybe a few hairstyles. I suppose I could pull them.
I have been stalking the Daily Deal and adding a lot of Store content. I know some of it hasn't installed properly:
Since I've been buying off the DD almost every day I haven't bothered hunting down the problematic install and fixing it. I figure I'll reinstall everything once I'm done buying stuff.
I currently am dealing with "a lot" (for me) of crashing. I don't know why but there are things I could do to try and eliminate potential causes. I just haven't taken the time yet. My PC is fairly decent, but I built it in 2012 so it's getting old. I'd love to upgrade but don't have the funds.

I recently "upgraded" to a 250GB SSD, and 1TBHDD also, but I'm not entirely sure that it really increased my game performance. The game is installed on the SSD but portions are on the HDD.
I also ended up buying the game and all EP's from Steam instead of ORigin and I do feel like game performance increased after that.
With that said I don't play HUGE worlds.

I use mods + CC and the worlds I play in can get pretty stuffed with sims and content but I don't play in huge worlds. PC specs in siggy. I built this computer with other games in mind so it's overkill for sims.

I have had a random crash here or there over the course of owning the game (since release) and I use to be in the habit of saving frequently just because I wouldn't want to lose all that progress just on case the game decided to derpy out. But I think I've gotten too comfortable with my game not crashing, I only save now right before I exit.

Even before i got my super fast computer i never had issues with crashes often.
That you are getting much better performance than that is actually impressive.

Now I pace my CAS, and my new rig hasn't had a crash yet.

When I first installed TS3 in 2012, it crashed alot. It was my first Sims game, and I had no idea what to do.
Nowadays, it never crashes, thanks to the amazing NRAAS mods that keep it running. ^^
Plus, I delete the cache files after every gaming session. It helps alot.
I've not seen it on this computer and I don't expect to. I've been playing the same save for about a year now and the save file is still really small despite that. Save cleaner and smarter use of mods to the rescue. And a better computer these days. It's a few years old now but it's more than enough for what I need. Except maybe someday a better graphics card? I don't know, really happy with what I have now.

I've been playing Sims 3 since November 2015. I run the game through Origin and updated to 1.69 and have had few problems with my game. I've never gotten an error 12, but I did have a 7th generation legacy game that took over 10 minutes to load, and finally stopped loading. So I packed up the family and moved them to Glenvale County.
I've had maybe 3 or 4 times where it's crashed to desktop and that's been from a bad save. If I go back to a previous save, the problem goes away.
Currently, I've got all of my display setting in game to full. The only time I experience a bit of lag is when my NRAAS mods are running maintenance on the game (about 1 am and 3 am).
I have more problems with being unable to log into the launcher so I can download and install store content. I'm constantly having to clear my browser history on Internet Explorer and sometimes jump through hoops when that happens.
I didn't have any problems with The Sims 3 when I upgraded to Windows 10.
Uhm.... you're joking right? You've got an i7 with 32 GB of ram, and you don't think its that great?
I have an i3-2130 with 6 GB of ram. I'm getting an i7-2600 with 8 GB next week. Its the best I can put in my HP I bought in 2012.

@igazor Nope no issues. <shrugs> I don't question it. My game is run on good wishes and rubber bands. I'll take it as long as it lasts.
