Lack of Expansion Packs for The Sims 4?

Since the launch of The Sims 4 approximately two years ago only two expansion packs have been released for the game; Get To Work and Get together. This strikes me as odd, especially considering that The Sims 2 had a 5-7 month gap between expansion pack releases and The Sims 3 had a very similar, almost identical, release schedule.

I'm aware that The Sims Studio has changed their release formula for The Sims 4, namely by introducing Game Packs into the release roster, but the releases overall do seem a little sparse to say the least. What do you think has caused this? Personally I believe that EA does not want to waste too much money of TS4 once they realised that it would not meet their expectations. Regardless of the cause(s), it does mitigate my desire to play the game.

Despite its flaws, TS3 had plenty of things for your sims to do. When compounded with the expansion packs and store content, there were literally hundreds of ways to play, and I still find myself trying out game-play elements tat I have never used before. I can't say that for TS4.

This game is "As is". I highly doubt that with expansion packs will change something.

Sad to hear that you feel that way about the Sims 4. I can say that for myself too, I tend to quit the game after an hour or so because I get bored. But, as you said, they want to make the Sims 4 way different than S2 and S3.. hence the lack of EP's and stuff. You either enjoy it or not.

The 3 GPs were probably meant to replace one or two EPs - and you got 8 SPs already ;)

I’d be more pleased if it brought a new life state, supernatural beings are basically my favourite thing in The Sims.

What do you base this on? Who's expectations?
