Comments
I feel that elders don't get enough love, and I don't have any grand-folks to hang out with any more

SimmerJay CAS Challenge! ✨
Then the stairway lift would make more sense and it would add realism to the game as when you get older not everything is functioning like before.
Good idea!
mischief/friendly Interactions like "spiking the tea"
Spilling the tea/throwing shade - on their kids and grandkids - they all do it.
real Grandparents. Grandparents who look out for their young. Give life advise, things you wouldn't expect to come out of your Grandparent's mouth. Because they've lived their lives, and seen things. they should be able to "check" from your physical appearance, to your personality and behavior. they should be able to call you out.
they should get free passes.
like In real life, my grandmother drinks Wine at 8:00 the morning.
It's the greatest picture, because I come downstairs, and She's just eating breakfast, and playing sudoku on her iPad.
and the She offers a glass. At the time I was 17, and I follow the rules, but it all went out the window, not going to say no to Nana.
Also in the game I think their should be little (inappropriate comments) comments/notifications your an elder/Grandparent the household should give. Kind of like silently judging your actions.
like Say your sims are getting flirty, up in the bedroom, and an elder/grandparent is around the house.
and they woohoo'd/messed around, after you get a notification "Is that all you got?" even if the woohoo was satisfactory.
My Mood:
Agreed! Elders/Grandparents deserve more respect and attention than they get in TS4! Grandparents are the glue to so many of our families! Let's see some of that. It doesn't even necessarily need to be a pack, just little actions and options SOLELY for elders. A few ideas from the top of my head:
- An automatic option to move your elders in with your family towards the end of their lives (breaks my heart when they up and die alone)
- Grandfathers playing Chess, Go, or cards with each other in the park(sipping coffee!)/Trying to teach their little grandchildren to do so
- Grandparents reading books/newspapers with their grandchildren on their laps
- Retired grandparents automatically coming over to help care for new babies
- Cannot stress this one enough: FAMILY PHOTOS. Traditionally staged family photos with the grandparents looking happy and proud of the families they helped to create. I don't understand how family photos we're skipped over with the PHOTO STUDIO! Somebody dropped the ball.
- Maybe some nagging calls to our young adult/adult sims with elders checking up on them or guilt tripping them into coming over/going out to meals
- Perhaps unseen elder cruises/trips? Like adult only trips in TS3. They could come back with money won at casinos and tans from the beach!
- I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's the sweetest thing to see older couples who are still mad for each other! Let's see some still in love emotions/actions for older couples only
-If there WERE an elders pack, I think a Mrs. Crumplebottom NPC would be great!
As for music? Some jazz standards would be great. Instrumental would be cheapest, but if they could get a Billie Holiday or Louis Armstrong sound-alike? Eat your hearts out, Bethesda.
But why stick to the octogenarians? Elders in TS4 are more like baby boomers, to be honest. Let's get a classic rock radio station with stuff from the 70s and 80s. Mark Mothersbaugh has a long history of composing for The Sims, so why not get Devo into the studio to record some Simlish covers?
Or, hell, how about some original compositions inspired by those decades? I'm sure my older Sims (and young ones with good taste) would love to rock out to the Woohoo Pistols, lol.
-Walk with cane
-Unique interactions with grandsons
-Group activities like visits or journeys with other elders
-Unique clothes
-Games like cards, sudoku, crosswords... relaxed games
I like this a lot!
Yes.
If you mean like a seniors card. Discounts at cafes and restaurants, just for being not dead yet!
or the option of an old folks village
Yes, yes, yes!
Why on earth didn't they include that as an option? Madness! Rabbithole holiday, good idea!
Yes, and OMG yes! I loved old mrs crumplebottom in TS2
They had a couple of options that were pretty good in TS3, I'm sure they could come up with even better ones for TS4
Jazz would fit well with one of the dance styles (foxtrot) I was thinking would be awesome.
Whip it in simlish
Walks down memory lane
Its a real place
I'd love an "In My Day" interaction just for Elders. Other Elders like it, but Adult and younger get annoyed.
Add Manage Neighbourhood Options - assign your own Sim to NPC jobs!
The Problems with Death in The Sims 4
Distinguish Elder gameplay with Elder-only reward traits
Filter Rugs by Room Size
In my day, and all the other elders nod in agreement, while eveyone younger rolls their eyes.
"In my day, we twerked to our hearts content" me when I'm 89.
"Get off my Lawn!" - Me now in my 20s
My Mood:
1st Idea, make the elders interact with the sims differently. (Talk about younger life, Rant about the newer generation, Experience, photo gallery)
"Talk about younger life" is a positive interaction with the Sims, "Rant about the newer generation" is negative interaction as the younger sims will develop a annoyance. "Experience", help a Sims gain knowledge of a particular subject (Maybe increase one level). "Photo Gallery" is where old folks will take out a huge book of photos from when you were young. I guess this is more of a funny interaction?
2nd Idea, Include a Bingo or Casino or hell, include Las Vegas map in the Sims DLC. I don't think players are allow to go or own a casino because it leaves Sims 4 as a game the promote Casino business. You can only send elders to the Casino, but you can't follow them. I think they will be there for like 4 to 5 hours, and could come back with more cash or less cash. But they always come back full, and happy.
3rd Idea, A knitting Hobby
4th Idea, Furnishing-wise, include some vintage technology, clothing and furniture. Include a TV from the 50s, a old radio, some old Victorian style beds, etc.
5th idea, Actually include more baking, like baking cookies or cupcakes.
Maybe bingo events for elders
Pinching kids' / grandkids' cheeks
"Back In My Day..." interaction ( Positive, Negative, Embarrassed moodlets )
Baking Grandma's Cookies with grandparents
Personality,depth,humor,consequences,lore,customization.
I got inspired by this
