It's a solid quality of life improvement. I can abandon my old system of increasingly posh attire as you get to higher numbers in each category. I could generally recall what outfits I had for a sim and type of preset but it really helped reduce the search space to sort them by something and I used poshness because most of my sims have a broad color pallet they use for all outfits they wear, so color doesn't really help.
That does come in handing when you have more than one outfit for them in each category. I too would sometimes want one of my sims to be wearing a certain outfit at that moment. So sometimes I find myself forgetting if I had set that outfit as 1,2,3,4, or 5. But with this new change to the change outfit command. That takes care of that problem right now.
Finally they brought back this feature from The Sims 2 .
If I remember correctly the feature in question was something from TS3. Only difference is that the screen wasn't as big so you couldn't truly see the outfits as well.
I love that they have added this feature back in, I always forget the order of the outfits and had my poor sim changing multiple times to find the right one

Sims can't go nude if there are kids about.
There was no kids when I saw it greyed out.
Did you hover over it and see the tooltip to see why it's greyed out?
I saw it on an overview but I didn't see any kids but they could have been in another room I guess.
