Achievement Thread - Guide on how to achieve them

I decided to start a new achievement thread, to help fellow simmers who might be needing it. At the moment, it still could be typos galore, though, so I will most likely have to edit it several times...

I came up with the following categorization:

Easiest achievements are what I refer to as the item type achievement, which requires you to acquire a specific item and use them sometimes once, sometimes couple times. They are also the most numerous ones. They are listed like: "Perform the "Genious IQ" interaction five times". Most can be done by anyone, and once you've performed whatever you have to do, sell said item and move on to the next "chore".

Next are gathering type achievements, which require you to acquire some items and, sometimes to use them. Listed like "Collect 10 space rocks" or "Use the gem cutting machine to cut gems 20 times". Again, those can be completed by anyone, and do not need a specially created sim.

Next are venues type achievements. Require you to do something specific (or several specific actions) at a specific place (or a small number of specific places) (places here meaning either venues or rabbitholes), like "Have your face painted (and etc...) at the festival". Once again, most of those can be completed by anyone, and do not need a specially created sim, though at time some traits might help.

Next are social type achievements. Require you to perform social interactions with other sims and/or achieve a set level of relationship with a single or more sims. Traits definitely help for those.

Next are career type achievements. Require you to reach a certain level in a specific career and, at times, to do something specific. Traits definitely help for those.

Next are skills type achievements. Most of the time, require you to do an action or interaction that is specific to a specific skill, or that mainly require this skill. Traits definitely help for those.

Next are traits type achievements. Require you to have a sim with a specific trait and perform something specific. Like: "Have an Insane sim talk to themselves 15 times".

Next are lifewishes type achievements. Require you to have a sim with a specific lifewhish and fulfill it. Traits definitely help for those.

Complex achievements are those that require multiple complex actions, and sometimes a great deal of gametime. However, there are not many of them.

Online achievements are achievements that may or may not have little to do with the game itself, but rather with the TS3 online community.

Bugged achievements are achievements that are bugged for some reasons and won’t trigger. I’ve listed three of them.

There are also some other achievements that are no longer unlockable, and that I’ve listed as having been removed by EA. I couldn’t find an exhaustive list of all of them, so if anyone has a link about those, it would be appreciated.

Also, though basic achievements can be done in a single action, some players may be tempted to get the more elaborate ones using multiple sims or households. So I added a note when an achievement requires to be fulfilled by a single sim (Sim specific), or pools all your household efforts (Household specific), or pools all your sims efforts, in all the saves you play using a specific computer together, for its fulfillment (Cross saves).

A word of advice regarding achievements: Unless explicitly required to do so, avoid working on an achievement using or targeting an occult, as a lot of them won’t trigger.

I’ve also added some personal tips and suggestion. There are some achievements that I still haven’t unlocked, and I marked those accordingly.

The following list is an updated version of:
http://simsvip.com/sims-3-achievements/
http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/achievements.php
as some achievements have since been added or removed.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

10 for 100 (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Sell 10 blogs for at least 100 Simoleons each.

Skill. Complex. Sim specific. Blogs buyout offers now can only come once it has reached 4 stars, at 5pm, but your sim may have wait two or three days to get an offer. Read about blogs, and get the right traits for the type of blogs which best matches your game style.

This is one of the achievements that takes the longer to get, yet it’s only “silver”. It should be platinum, IMHO

Here's one of the best page about blogging:
    http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/skills/universitylife/socialnetworking/

One more thing: the "Blog Baron" challenge also seem to significantly decrease the odds of your sims getting the "Blogged Out" moddlet after every single post, making last five blogs a lot easier and faster to compelte.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

10 to the 4th Simoleons (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Earn 10,000 Simoleons by correlating Scientific Data.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    A New Vice (Gold)

Description: Have a Sim work their way up to, but no higher than, Vice President in both the Business and Political careers

Career. Sim specific. Actually fairly quick if your Sim is “Workaholic”, “Ambitious” and “Charismatic”, has the “Entrepreneurial Mindset” reward, and has a degree in Communications and one in Business.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

A Week About Me (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have a Sim get the It’s All About Me moodlet 7 days in a row

Trait. Sim specific. Requires a Sim with the “Social Butterfly” trait. Though it requires to have the moodlet for 7 simdays in a row, it does not require you to have it on full time. So, as long as you get it once per day works.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

A Gnome For Every Season (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Collect all four Seasonal gnomes.

Gathering. Household specific. Seasonal gnomes are rather easy to get, as you can purchase them with tickets on the festival grounds. There is also a small chance one spawns on your yard, or that one be anonymously sent to you by mail. Also, a seasonal gnome matching current season spawns at the beginning of the season on the map (can be literally anywhere, so it can easily be missed, though they tend to be near the festival grounds). It will teleport itself every night to a new location, and will eventually vanish at the beginning of the next seasons. If you see it, drag and drop it into your Sim’s inventory, to latter drop it on your homelot. Wait a simyear to see if you are to get any, and then go purchase the missing ones.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Abracadabra (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have a Magician perform 20 tricks

    Career. Sim specific. Self descriptive.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Achieving Grapeness (Gold)

Description: Have a Sim harvest 100 Perfect Harvestables

Skill. Complex. Though it takes some time, this achievement is not hard at all if you have a “Green Thumbed” "Fairy" with the “Super Green Thumb” reward. Once your plants mature, keep some of your highest quality products to plant again, and so on and on.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Acrobat Around (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have an Acrobat Sim perform at least once at each venue type

    Career. Sim specific. Self descriptive.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Acromaniac! (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have a Sim fulfill the Master Acrobat Lifetime Wish

Lifewish. Career. Sim specific. Have a sim reach level 10 of the Acrobat profession. If your acrobat is “Athetic”, “Natural Born Performer”, “Ambitious” and “Social Butterfly”, with “Entrepreneurial Mindset” rewards, it will climb the ladder real fast. Of all three performers branch, “Acrobats” are the only one that actually don’t need to perform to get promotion, as improving “Athleticism” increases your performance meter. So you can have your “Acrobat” level at the gym... “Profession Simoleon Booster”, “Engaging”, and “That Was Deliberate” rewards help, should you decide to perform.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Alien Tech Expert (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim use the UFO to abduct someone, invade a lot, and travel to space.

Item. I don’t remember if it is Sim specific or Household Specific. The hardest part is acquiring a UFO (Marrying an “Alien”, or having one move in are the easiest legit way. You can also acquire one using BuyDebug. Apparently, the UFO is immune to theft, so “Kleptomaniac” and “Thieves” cant steal one.). Once you have your UFO, you need to upgrade it according to what you want to do, as each of those task require you to refit the UFO accordingly. Great way to level “Handiness”, though.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

All About Town (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Send a Sim to perform in a Park, a Coffeehouse, a Live Show Venue, a Private Venue, and a Big Show Venue!

Online. Sim specific. You need to send a specific performer sim to do a show at all five venues types of one of your friends. Doesn't have to be in the right order, but your sim must perform at least once at each, and the five times must be with the very same online friend.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

All-Knowing Orb (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Check the Orb of Answers 5 times

    Item. Sim specific. Self descriptive.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

All The Park’s a Stage (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Host a friend’s Singer, Acrobat, and Magician in a Park

Online. Cross Saves. It requires you to simport host at least once each Performers at a performing capable park. You may need to have a sim in the park lot during each show, though the sim do not need to be watching the show, though simport users experiences vary a lot about it.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Description: Make Out with a Werewolf, Fairy, Ghost, Vampire, Witch and regular Sim

This achievement has been removed by EA.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

An Amazing Alchemic Achievement (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Have your Sims create 300 Elixirs

Skills. Sim specific. Boring... Have a “Witch” “discover potions” at the Alchemy stand, and then make tons of the cheapest ones.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

And Your Little Gnome Too (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: As a Witch Kick gnomes 10 times

Item. Sim specific. Self descriptive. Not all gnomes can be kicked though, and your Sim has a (very) small chance to get “Singed” when kicking a gnome (appears to be worst when kicking a “Mr Evil Gnome”.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

As Hard as it Looks (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Acrobat Sim perform all 3 Giant Ring of Fire tricks in a row, without failing

Item. Sim specific. Self descriptive. However, you Acrobat only learns the last one of those at level 9. Put the Ring of Fire in your backyard and practice...
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Best in Bistro (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your performer Sim win a SimFest at a Coffeehouse

Venue. Sim specific. Self descriptive. Read the newspaper to learn about upcoming SimFests.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Big Meany (Silver)

Description: Be Mean to 200 Sims

Social. Sim specific (some people claim it to work cross saves). Self descriptive. Not as long as it looks like, as mean social interactions tend to be short. So queue up 8 of the shortest ones on a preselected “Friendly” target, wait for your sim to perform them, and repeat. You’re on for some laughs! ;)
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Blogmaster Badge

Blog on your My Page 50 times.

Online. Go to the blog section on your page on thesims3.com and write fifty posts. You may then delete them.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Book it! (Bronze)

Description: Have your Sim visit the bookstore

    Venue. Sim specific. Self descriptive.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Born Explorer (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

    Description: Find 5 hidden islands

Complex. Many players experience several issues getting this achievement. I personnaly had to disable all EPs and SPs but Island Paradise in the Origin based launcher, and then create a single sim household to get it. There are eight uncharted islands to be found, and you need any six of them (Well, most players who get the achievement get it at the sixth...).
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Bottomless Stomach (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim win both the Hot Dog and Pie Eating contests.

    Venue. Sim specific. Self descriptive.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Brawler (Gold)

Description: Have Sims win 30 fights

Social. Sim specific. Self descriptive. “Martial Arts” greatly boost odds of victory, so does “Athleticism” skill, “Atheltic”, “Proper” and “Mean” traits, and being either a “Werewolf” or “Vampire”. Actually, if your sim has reached at least level 1 of “Martial Arts”, and is “Fighting!” (not “Sparing”) or “Giving (a sim) what for!”, it guarantees a factory if the targeted sim has no knowledge of “Martial Arts”. The relevant skillbook can be purchased at consignment stores.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Brood Sire (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Turn 8 Sims into Vampires

Social. Sim specific. Have your “Charismatic” “Vampire” “Hypnotic Glance” at acquaintances or more sims, to then “Offer to turn”. Turning foreigners into occults in France, China or Egypt will have bizarre consequences.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Bucketful of Nuts and Bolts (Bronze)

Description: You can’t be a true geek unless your fish ARE gadgets. Propel yourself to catch 5 Robot Fish or forfeit your place in technological geekdom.

Skill. Sim specific. Though it is tagged as “Expired”, this achievement still can be completed. Hard part is finding fishing spots containing “Robot Fishes” as they are very rare. Usually seen near the "Science Facilities". Have your sim fish out five of them. You can also “Edit Town”, and add relevant fish spawners using BuyDebug...

Exams for Sale (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Sell exam answers to 5 Sims.

Trait. Skills. Social. Complex. Sim specific. The problem here with this achievement is acquiring the exam answers, though you also need to reach level two of “Rebel” influence. “Stolen Exam Answers” is a visible moodlet. Here are couple ways to get them: “Hack” for them on Thursday evening (requires an experienced hacker), or get very close to your professor, with a matching strong “Rebel” or “Jock” influence , then either “Bribe”, “Mooch”, “Ask” him/her for the exam answers, or ask tons of students until you find one who happens to have them. Once you acquire the “Stolen Exam” moodlet, find five students (preferably strong “Rebels” or “Jocks”, and you only need to attempt the “Sell Exam Answers” interaction, succeeding it is optional.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Genie Out of Bottle (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

    Description: Free a Genie

Social. Complex. Sim specific. First tricky part is acquiring a dusty old lamp. Then, you need to befriend the genie up to close friend, have at least one “Genie Wish” left, a household of fewer than eight sims, and have your “Special Opportunity” slot available. Finaly, you need to talk to the “Genie” and “Wish to set him/her free”. You will be prompted the first step of an easy chain opportunity, which results in the now relatively powerless “Genie” joining your household. Besides magical housekeeping and summoning food, “Genies” are more or less like other sims.

You need to have the remains of a family relative or close friend (either sim or pet) in your sim inventory all the time and keep your “Special Opportunity” slot available. At some point, you will get offered this (easy) “Opportinity”, which only requires you to bring those remains to a “Science Lab” and pay for have the “Ghost” of that sim or pet join your household. Completing it also enable you to make most other deceased which you are carrying the remains join your household as a ghost for §3k. Alternatively, it can be triggered by mods.

Career. Social. Complex. Have a sim reach level four of the “Singer” performing profession, then offering to sell a single should show up in the “Singer” or “Special” social submenus when interacting with NPC sims. The odds of the sale being successful depends on the usual relevant traits, skills and relationship factors, though the moodlet resulting from a “Great performance” or better in a gig also influences it.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Going the Distance (Platinum)

Description: Have Sims jog a total of 2000 kilometers

Skill. Sim specific, though the description makes it appear to work cross saves. Note that time spent jogging counts towards cardio workout, so you can work on “Fit as a Fiddle” at the same time.

Harsh Weather (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have a Sim Freeze to Death, and another die from heat or fire.

Complex. Household specific. Though having a sim “Burn to Death” (“Die by Fire”) is fairly common, having one “Freeze to death” (“Die by Freezing”) is not... And, as a matter of fact, sims don’t freeze to death, they just remain frozen either until thawed or until they die for another cause (most likely starvation), but are then treated as having fozen to death. So, first, have a sim burn to death, and then, in the middle of the winter, have a very hungry adult sim walk around at night in swimsuit. Be careful not to be thawed by a passing by NPC...
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Head of the Family (Silver)

Description: Get a Sim to have 30 grandchildren

Complex. Sim specific. Just like the fifteen children achievement, however, we are now talking about thirty grandchildren, and EA made a slight move to make it a little hard to get. The thirty children need to have at least two different sets of parents, or the achievement will not trigger. So, the easiest way to get it is creating a three sims household, with Sim A being the parent of both Sim B and Sim C. Then, Sim B and Sim C need to get children. Best way is to “Call for Services”/”Adoption Service” on a phone, then have those kids eat cake and kick them out. Be careful though, because if the kid leaves town after being kicked out, he/she is forgotten regarding this achievement. Note that Sim B can have a single kid while Sim C can have the other ones.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    —————————————————————————————————————————–

High-Class Hotel (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Description: Run a 5 Star resort for 7 days

Complex. Household specific. Getting to five stars is challenging, and so is remaining at that level, because you will constantly get a very displeased guest leaving an unfairly low rating which will make your rating sometimes lose half a star for a day.

Scroll down for more help on resorts.
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Skill. Sim specific. Create or acquire thirty elixirs, and then “Throw” them at random people, or all at the same victim.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Juice Cruise (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Description: Throw 5 parties on a houseboat.

Description: Go bowling with another Sim 15 times.

Social. Sim specific. Preferably, form group with another sim, then “Bowl with group”. Expect it to take at least three outings, as bowling takes several simhours and venues with bowling lanes tend to open in the afternoon and close rather early...
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Lap of Luxury (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Description: Stay at a resort 5 times

Venue. Sim specific. Self descriptive. Unless playing in Isla Paraiso, you will need to add a resort to your neighborhood. You can book a stay at the “Front Desk” at a NPC resort (assuming you show up at the desk at the right hour), or *sometimes* directly at the hotel tower if you own the resort.
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Legendary Performer (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have a Sim put on a Legendary Show as an Acrobat

Career. Sim specific. Your “Acrobat” needs to achieve a “Legendary” or “Epic” rating after a show. Shows rating are influenced by traits (for the “Acrobats”: “Athletic”, “Social Butterfly”, “Natural Born Performer”, “Ambitious”, and maybe “Charismatic” though some people experience seem to show that this last trait has no impact on the performance itself. “Good Sense of Humour” also helps, but only if you “Talk to Audience”/”Tell a Joke”), rewards (“Engaging” and “That was deliberate”), off course, doing what the audience ask for (check the bubbles during the performance, and act accordingly), the gadgets and gizmo on stage, the skills and level of your performer, and, better, starting the show earlier (you can start the show up to two hours before the set time) and do all the above.

Description: Have a Sim become a Master of Mysticism then Give 25 Fairy Enchantments to other Sims

Career. Skill. Sim specific. I’ve had some issue with this one. Apparently, the sim needs to already be a “Fairy” prior to being promoted to “Master of Mysticism” in order to fulfill this achievement, every time I tried it the other way around, I failed to collect the achievement. The fairy elixir is the best way to turn a sim into a “Fairy”, and it’s about §2k at the elixir consignment store.

Never Again (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Description: Run a 0 Star resort for 7 days

Venue. Complex. Household specific. It’s a bit harder than it seems, as even with tons of garbage, soiled amenities, roaches, no food, no cleaning staff, and your sims manhandling the guest, you will from time to time get a half a star or even a full star rating review...

Scroll down for more help on resorts.

Nice Arm! (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim win a water balloon and snowball fight.

BUGGED This achievement has been known as being bugged for over two years now.

It can still be obtained, however, you need to have only Basegame and Seasons installed as stand alone (*NOT* though Origin), and manually patch the game to no further than 1.55.XXX . Then your sim, preferably a "Child" must first win a "Water Balloon Fight" at a "Family Fun Water Arena", and then a "Snowball Fight". Though "Water Balloon Fights" can be fought all year long, "Snowball Fights" require "moderate snow" on the ground, which typically only occur in late Fall, Winter, or early Spring.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Oh Oh Domino! (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Play 5 four-player games of dominoes

Social. Item. Sim specific. Self descriptive, though it’s important mentioning that the five games must come to their natural end for this achievement to trigger.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

On the Ball (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Perform The Big Bounce 25 times

Item. Career. Have a sim reach level 10 of the “Acrobat” performing profession, then perform “The Big Bounce” on his/her “Balance Ball”.

    Description: Complete 30 Opportunities.

Complex. Household specific? (Unsure). Complete 30 opportunities, any of them. Note that “Dares”, “Day Jobs”, “Social Group Jobs”, “Divework Jobs” and foreign “Adventures” are “Opportunities”. Note also that this specific achievement seems to be allergic to occults...
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Participatory Package (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Send a gift to an Online Friend

Online. Get an online friend, then send him/her a gift. Freebies work, "Shells" don't.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Pastry Perfect (Silver)

Description: Have your Pastry Chef Sim prepare 5 perfect Key-Lime Pies

Career. Skill. Have a sim reach level six of the “Culinary” career cool five perfect Key-Lime Pies. Again, a high level of “Cooking”, top of the line kitchenware and “Born to Cook” reward all help.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Picture a Kiss (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Sim WooHoo in a Photo Booth 10 times

Item. Social. Sim specific. Acquire a “Photo Booth” (“Seasons” ones DO NOT count, but “University Life” one does) then “Woohoo” in it ten times.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Planning Presentation (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Practice a presentation 10 times with the Business Planner.

Item. Acquire a “Business Planner” (from “University Life”) and “Practice” on it ten times.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Plant Kisses (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Have a PlantSim give 10 flower kisses and 10 poison kisses.

Social. Complex. Sim specific. Here, the tricky part is having a PlantSim join your household, as they cannot be created in CAS and turning one of your sim into one require high-end “Science” and “Gardening” and some luck. Best way is to travel to “SimUniversity”, befriend one, and once you get back home, call him/her over and “Join Household”. Then, “Give Flower Kiss” and “Give Poison Kiss” ten times each.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Playing with Nature (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim use Dr. F’s Climatron Control Unit to alter the weather.

Item. Sim specific. This item apparently can normally only be acquired as a reward, though “BuyDebug” allows you to purchase one too.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Plenty of Fish in the Sea (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

    Description: Have a Mermaid Baby

Social. Complex. If your female Sim try for baby with a male “Mermaid” (Like Salty Seaworthy), you only have fifty percents chance of getting a “Mermaid” baby per pregnancies. Best way if having two “Mermaids” parents. To do so, you need to acquire “Mermedic Kelp”, which cost a fortune in happiness points BUT can also be rather commonly found while exploring underwater caves or befriending a NPC “Mermaid” (like the father-to-be), get to “Close Friend” or better, then unlock the “Talk About Fish Parts” interaction, and spam it until he gives you some. This interaction is unlocked after having talked about sharks, kelp recipe, and other “Mermaids” topics. Important note: “Mermaid” babies come with a large pool of bugs, mainly no-aging bugs and “GrowIntoANPC” bugs when growing from toddlers to children. If the toddler successfully grows into a child, another bug (or severe lag) may happen when growing into a “Teen”.
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Pool Performer (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Sim earn §10,000 in tips from playing pool

Item. Skill. Sim specific. Actually, this one is a lot quicker and easier than it looks like. First, have your sim learn each of the four tricks, then let him/her practice alone for a couple more hours. “Edit town” to set a pool table on the most crowded lot, and have your sim “Play for Tip!” My sim makes between §2 and §4k nightly. “Natural Born Performer” and “Mooch” traits help, like the “Engaging” and “That Was Deliberate!” rewards..
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Positive Potential (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Find all 4 positive outcomes from the Group Science Project.

Item. Complex. Household Specific. Acquiring the “Group Science Project” is optional, as one is present in “SimUniversity” on the “Nerd Testing Ground” lot. The three first positive outcomes are easy to get (red ray, blue ray, green ray), and you only need your sim to succeed playing with a set interface. Unleash your result with the “Doomsdays lever”. Progression on all three are positively affected by the “Genious” trait and “Science” and “Handiness” skills, which each interface have too a set of trait that increase it even further. Fourth one is tricky. Two possible ways to trigger it. Either have three sims (with the correct traits and skills) simultaneously work the three interfaces OR have a first sim work each interface one at a time, while a second sim is preventing NPCs from ruining your work. In both cases, you have to check progression on each interface from the light meters on the machine, and all three interface must be about the same up until the shinning ray turns white. Any other color means you did not succeed. Pull the lever.

Potent Possibilities (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Visit the Elixir Consignment Store

Venues. Sim specific. You may have to set the “Aleister Consignment Store” yourself in your neighborhood. If the achievement does not trigger by walking on the lot, go to the “Cash Register” and “Buy” something cheap.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Precocious Pollination (Bronze)

    Description: Plant 10 Plants

Skill. Sim specific. Either acquire “Seeds” and plant them, or get your sim level seven of gardening, place fruit or vegetables on the ground on your home lot, and plant them.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Prettiest Sim at the Dance (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim attend a Spring Dance and become Spring King/Queen.

Venue. Sim specific. At the very first day of the “Spring Festival”, have your sim go to the venue, and dance there. The King or Queen is the sim who will have danced the most, so manage to have NPCs quit dancing. Sometimes, very few NPCs show up on the dance floor, sometimes, it gets full. You will get the notification of the winner a few days latter.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Prize Winner (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim collect and cash-in some festival tickets.

Venue. Sim specific. Go to the “Festival grounds”. Just about anything here gives tickets. They may be cashed mainly at the food stands.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Professional Barista (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Make 10 drinks at a Barista Bar.

Item. Here, the “Barista Bar” is the one from “University Life” and NOT the “Mixology” ones.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Professional Student (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Earn all 6 Degrees with one Sim.

Complex. Sim specific. Actually, not as bad as it looks with two “Wish Enhancing Elixirs”, and locking the right wishes. Send a sim (preferably with already more than 20k happiness points, the “Ambitious” traits and at least two other traits matching the targeted first degree, even better with the “Perfect Student” lifewish, as normal wishes will get even more juicier.). During the semester lock the juicy wishes to “Complete the Degree”, “Finish the term with an A” “Pass an exam” and such. Work hard to get top grades (i.e.: 5000/5000). Drink the first elixir before the last set of exams. Once over, you’ll cash in the wishes, ganting you a total of like 40 to 60k happiness points. Graduate, get the degree, get home. Couple days later, your sim will get another wish: “Complete 2 Degrees”. SAVE, then drink the second elixir, lock that wish, go to the happiness point/rewards tab, click for rewards, and purchase a second degree. At this point, or few simhours latter, your sim will have a new wish: “Complete 3 degrees”. Lock it, purchase a third degree. Wait for the next wish, and repeat. On the 6th degree, you’ll get the achievement. At this point, feel free to either save again, or reload.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Profitable Botany (Platinum)

Description: Have a Sim earn 50,000 Simoleons from selling Harvestables

Skill. Sim specific. The key part here is getting the §50k from selling the harvestables, so the sim selling it does not have to be the one harvesting it. Even better, selling at the “Elixir Consignment Store” gives you a lot more, while going to sell it at the grocery store gives more than selling straight off the inventory. It is a good idea too to have some or all your household members get the Self-Employed Gardening career for the couple days needed. You’ll see your sims level rather quickly when literally farming for profits, and at some levels, your sims will get the boni from the city. Then, either have your sims get back to normal jobs or keep on farming.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Profoundly Perfect Dishes (Platinum)

Description: Have Sims prepare 200 perfect meals

Skill. Cross saves. If you have a dedicated cook in each of your households, this one will eventually come, in time... Note that the two hundred perfect meals need to be group meals, however, this achievement seems to be Occult tolerant, as my cooks included a “Mermaid”, a “Plantsim”, a “Vampire” and a “Fairie”.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Psychic Sycophant (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Have a Sim become a Celebrity Psychic then hold 5 Psychic Conventions

Lifewish. Career. Sim specific. Lock this lifewish, and then achieve topmost level of the “Fortune Telling” career, “Fraudulent” branch, then hold five conventions. Those can be held at “Stadiums” or “Theaters” once every three days.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Pump It Up! (Bronze)

Description: Have your Sim “get pumped!”

Skill. Sim Spcific. Have a sim do “Strength Workout” or “Pump Iron” until getting “Pumped!”. “Athletic” skill or trait help.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Send in The Clones (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 University Life

Description: Clone 24 Sims from scientific samples.

Skill. Item. Social. Complex. Sim specific. This achievement is not exactly hard, but has a tendency to ruin a game, as you suddenly overload your neighborhood. You need a “Science Station” on your homelot or home neighborhood, and at least twenty four DNA samples * not from occult sims*, a sim with the “Science” skill at level nine or ten and a household of fewer than eight sims (the fewer, the better). Have your sim clone a first sim (will result in a baby being born off the cloning machine with either the matching traits (or opposing matching traits) of the sims who’s DNA is from. Chain clone until your household is full. Have the babies eating cake up until you can kick (again, they are more or less guaranteed to have the original sim matching traits) out the clones and repeat. Progression is listed in the “Science” skill journal.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Serenity Now (Bronze)

Description: Have your Sim get Stressed Out

Sim specific. Have a sim get a very very low “Fun” need meter.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Shark Shmark (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Description: Beat 3 sharks in a fight

Complex. Sim specific. Two important notes: first, there are two kind of sharks, the small ones that can be fished (I’ve never seen or heard of a small shark attacking) and the large ones, and “Mermaids” are immune to sharks, they will not be attacked no matter what! Sharks are some not-so-powerful opponents, and the usual skills and traits are taken into consideration when fighting them (though the “Martial Arts” skill has a significantly reduce influence here). Sharks spawn randomly on designated spawners, though “Evil” “Mermaids” can summon them at will. If your sim is near a large shark, the odds of the shark attacking your sim is cumulatively affected by the amount of fish and meat in your sim inventory (poultry, patties, steak and all fish you will have just caught, fished or bought, I believe that tofu has no impact). The more you have, the greater the odds that the sharks will be attacking you. Another boost is if you click on the shark and “Watch Shark”. At some point, the shark will be attacking. There are four possible outcomes: Epic victory will result in your sim leaving with a “Fended off a Shark” positive moodlet and one or more very valuables shark teeth. Normal victory will result in your sim leaving with the positive moodlet. Defeat will result in a drastic loss of oxygen, and other needs, and the “Mauled by a Shark” moodlet. Epic defeat will result in your sim dying “Mauled by a shark”.
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Shocking Dismount (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Sim get Singed while riding the PlasmaPunch Gyroscopic Conductor

Item. This achievement can actually be fulfilled by NPCs. The “PlasmaPunch Gyroscopic Conductor” is a very very expensive item. To get “singed” your sim only need to “Ride” it while it is broken. A “Fire” may or may not result too is trying to ride it while it is broken.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Description: Have your Bed Pan Cleaner Sim clean 5 toilets

Career. Sim specific. Have a sim reach level two of the medical career clean five toilets.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Something to Write About (Silver)

Description: Have your Epitaph Writer Sim get mauled by a bear

Career. Venue. Sim Specific. This one is tricky. The only way your sim can get mauled by a bear is by “Exploring the Catacombs” on the “Mausoleum”. Over the expansions, EA added more outcomes, and to make things worse, many of those new outcomes include being mauled by bears/zombie bears, yet only the original one triggers the achievement. Even worst, it looks like this specific outcome can only be attained by an “Adult”, so a “Teen” “Epitaph Writer” cannot fulfil this achievement until aging up.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Spacious Curiosity (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

    Description: Analyze a Space Rock

Gathering. Sim specific. Find a “Space Rock” and “Analyse Space Rock” (the “Science” skill “Analyse” do not count). Alternatively, grab a bunch of them and “Analyse All”

But pay no attention to the expiry date, as it still can be awarded. (Note: A fellow Simmer pointed out that he got this badge without owning "Seasons".)
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Description: Have a Magician Sim perform at least once at each venue type

Career. Venue. Sim Specific. Have a “Magician” perform gigs at a “(Performance) Park”, “Coffeehouse”, “Liveshow Venue” “Private Venue” and “Big Show Venue”. (You may have to set the latest one yourself, at it does not appear naturally in most worlds).

Star Crossed Lovers (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim meet an Alien, woohoo with an Alien, and have an Alien baby.

Social. Sim specific. Self descriptive... It seems that when “Trying for a Baby” with an alien, the odds of the baby being alien is slightly above the usual fifty percent... Personally, every time my female sims tried (about ten times), they ended up with an alien baby.

Description: Have your Sim get a sun tan.

Sim Specific. You may either get “Spray Tan” at the “Spa” or “Face Painting Booth” or lay in “Swimsuit” under the sun.

You need a “Human” female sim get a “Boyfriend” “Vampire” “Make out”, “Break Up”, then you need her to get a “Werewolf” “Boyfriend” “Make Out”, “Break Up”, and finally, she needs to marry a “Vampire”, which, in my case, was a fourth sim, not the “Vampire” from earlier on.

    Description: Send 50 text messages.

Social. Sim specific. Have a sim send fifty “Text Messages” to other sims. Actually, it may seem a lot to send all at once, but my sims tend send this much SMS in two or three simweeks.

    Description: Cast 25 Successful Charms

Social. Skill. Sim specific. Have a “Witch” cast twenty five successful “Charms”.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    The Bright Side (Bronze)

Description: Have your day brightened by a Good Sim

Social. Sim specific. Tricky part is you must receive this interaction, and not give it to a NPC. However, you may have a “Good” sim in your household “Brighten Up Day” of another sim in your household. Not always successful, and seems to require that the targeted sim has either a low “Fun” or “Social” meter, or some other minor negative moodlet.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

The Fairy House Party Party (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: As a Fairy have 8 Fairy Friends

    Social. Sim specific. Self descriptive.

    —————————————————————————————————————————————

The Show Must Go On (Platinum) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Perform a Legendary Acrobat Show in a Big Show Venue as a Ghost

Career. Sim specific. Your “Ghost” level nine or ten “Acrobat” needs to achieve a “Legendary” or “Epic” rating after a show in a “Big Show Venue”. “Ghost Potion” does not work. Again: Shows rating are influenced by traits (for the “Acrobats”: “Athletic”, “Social Butterfly”, “Natural Born Performer”, “Ambitious”, and maybe “Charismatic” though some people experience seem to show that this last trait has no impact on the performance itself.

Note that “Ghosts” make painful performers, as they travel way to slow, so you’ll likely have to kill one of your high end acrobat to achieve this, or start a new game with a sim that has this sole purpose.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

The Soundtrack of Your Lifetime (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Fulfill the Vocal Legend Lifetime Wish

Unfortunately, here, you really need to do it on different sims, but the tutoring session do not need to be completed, and may be stopped only after a couple simminutes. Note that “Tutoring Homework” on Children or Teens does not count.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

The World is Your Oyster (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

Note that it needs to be a normal failure, as an epic failure will result in your sim dying by “Magic Trick Gone Wrong”, so have couple “Death Flowers” ready.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Total Toadification (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

    Description: Toadify 10 Sims

Skill. Social. Sim Specific. Have a “Witch” reach level four of the hidden “Magic” skill, then “Toadify” sims ten times. Can be the same sim getting “Toadified” and cured (either by magic, "elixirs" or "Kiss the Toad") repeatedly.

Description: Have your Sim find a lamp

Gathering. Sim specific. Lamps can be found as “Epic” successes at many places, like “Mausoleums”, “Wardrobes” magically rabithole adventures, “Gyroscopic Plasmapunch” multidimensionary rabithole adventures or through the rewards, though I’m not sure last option will trigger the achievement.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Treasure Hunter (Gold) *Requires The Sims 3 Island Paradise

    Description: Open 5 treasure chests

Complex. Sim specific. In “Isla Paraiso”, find five chests and open them, always with the same sim. For reasons unknown, some chests do not count, as if the proper tag had not been added on it. They are either found at "Diving Spots" or on "Uncharted Islands". Known issue: it appears that not all chests are properly coded, so you may have to open a little more than five to get the achievement.

    Regarding Uncharted island (Spoilers Alert):

Note: @Thrippa managed to get this achievement, however, it requires you to install an old version of the game as a stand alone (NOT Origin base), patch it up to Island Paradise (and NOT up to Into the Future) install Island Paradise and then collect underwater bottles. You may need to exceed the said 10 bottles...

I managed to acquire an old laptop, repeated those steps, and it worked. Took me twelve bottles thought, but land bottles work too.
    —————————————————————————————————————————–

Winner in the Park! (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Singer, Magician, or Acrobat Sim win a SimFest in a Park

Venue. Complex. Sim specific. Self descriptive, but I advise reading the “Newpaper” for upcoming “Events” to know in advance when the “SimFests” are to take place. You may also have to set a “Performance Park” yourself.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Winning Streak (Silver)

Description: Have your Sim win 6 fights in a row

Social. Sim specific. Again, “Martial Arts” greatly boost odds of victory, so does “Athleticism” skill, “Atheltic”, “Proper” and “Mean” traits, and being either a “Werewolf” or “Vampire”.

Winter Shminter (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Seasons

Description: Have your Sim throw a pool party, swim in the ocean and barbecue while snow is on the ground in winter.

Description: Earn §20,000 in tips as an Acrobat

Career. Complex. Sim specific. Tied with the other performing professions §20k achievements, this is the second achievement that take the longest to fulfill. I’ll be writing about those a little latter.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

    Your Mama The Llama (Bronze)

Description: Have your Sim imply 6 Sims’ mothers are llamas

Social. Sim specific. Self descriptive, though having a sim with the “Mean” trait help having the interaction ready. Also, it has to be implied that the mother is a llamas, not a “Glowbug”, “Spider”, “Chupacabra”, “Kraken”, “Rag Doll” or so... (i.e.: targeting Occults won’t trigger the achievement).
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

Your Own Biggest Fan (Silver) *Requires The Sims 3 Showtime

Description: Have your Diva Sim compliment themselves 15 times

Trait. Sim Specific. Self descriptive. Funny to watch!
    —————————————————————————————————————————————

A return on "10 to the 4th Simoleons" and Science Data Correlation

I've been stuck working on this achievement for four to six months, and most of what I had read about this turned out to be inaccurate or simply false.

First of all, as I wrote, this achievement is sim specific, which makes it painful, as it means an insane lot of work.

Second, you can only start to "Correlate Science Data" once your "Science"skill reaches level five. Unless planing not to work it intensively, I strongly recommend against it, because the "Science Facility" cool down decreases a lot when your sim skill increases, from what I remember, level five means a two simdays cooldown, six means a simday and a half cooldown, seven means a simday cooldown, eight means twenty simhours cooldown, nine means sixteen simhours cooldown and ten means twelve hours cooldown. There is a skill challenge that says to half cooldown, which is not exactly true. From what I've seen, if you got it at a very low skill level, it will indeed cut it down by a half, but it seems that, no matter what, the cooldown won't be reduced to less than twelve simhours, so completting this challenge once you've maxed out "Science" has no impact. As you can see, increasing your "Science" skill fast really helps. Buy the second and third "Science" skillbooks. However, if you prefer to first correlate, and then work slowly on "Science" "Breakthroughs" during the cooldown, it's up to you.

Third, a little more about the "Science" skill. You can work your sim's "Science" skill by performing analysis on various collectibles (either in the world on in your inventory); by performing many experiments or cloning attempts or researches on the "Science Station", by playing with the "Group Science Project", "Ink Blot Test", "Testing Reflexes", and plenty more. Analyzing collectables slightly improve the "Fishing" or "Gardening" skills, when performed on relevant objects. The most important one is "Research on Samples" as they make your sims collect "Breakthroughs". Whenever your sims successfully achieve one, you'll get a notification "John Doe just made a scientific breakthrough. So many breakthrough, so little time!", which I believe is a reference to So Many Men So Little Time by Miquel Brown...

Fourth, regarding the simoleons gained. Everywhere I've read, it said that the amount given was pure random. This is inaccurate. After your sim walks out of the "Science Facility", you get a small report that looks like: "Sadly, John Doe failed to bring bring data relevant to fish migration. The other scientist present can't give you more that §15.". This is not just some randomly generated text. It means that the topic for this data correlation session was "Fish Migration". A non-exhaustive list of topics would be: "Fish Migration", "Gnome Genome", "Taste of Dirt", "Familial Resemblance", "Herbal Remedies", "PlantSim Growth", and a lot lot more. Unfortunately, I found now way to know in advance the topic of the next session, and it seems to be randomly selected when your sim walks in. Saving, "Correlating", to then load, and try "Correlating" again gives me two different outputs. This said, the topic decides what is going to be evaluated. Mainly, what they want is relevant "Breakthroughs", though "Analyses", recent specific interactions, relevant samples, and such are also taken into account, with a considerably less importance. Carrying a large number of varied samples helps, but not that much. So, let's take the previous example. When the sim walked in, the topic was "Fish Migration". From what I've seen, it appears that what is required is anything regarding fishes: most important are "Breakthroughs" while "Researching on" "Fish Sample", though, "Analyzing" fishes (either in your inventory, on the ground, in the water or in a fishbowl or fish tank), having "Fish Sample" and interacting with fishes do help. I'm not sure how the game makes this calculation though, but it seems that each of those give your sims points, and at the end, on walking out, cash received is calculated like: [number of points] * ["Science" skill level] * [a random modifier]. However, it is important to note that when a relevant "Breakthrough" is cashed it, it's gone, and cannot be reused. The most I've seen being awarded was §450, but it seemed to be an "Epic Success" or something. Most of the time, my sims walked out with between §150 and §250. About the other topics' requirements, some are obvious while some are not. "Gnome Genomes" seems to need "Breakthroughs" while "Researching on" "DNA Samples", "Taste of Dirt" seems to need "Breakthroughs" while "Researching on" "Mineral Samples", "Herbal Remedies" seems to need "Breakthroughs" while "Researching on" "Plant Samples", and so on. Other topics are more tricky. For example, "PlantSim Growth" seems to want breakthrough while "Researching on" samples related to "PlantSims", like a "DNA Sample" from a "PlantSim", "Plant Sample" of a "Forbidden Fruit". "Paranormal Prank" seems to want "DNA Samples" from specific occults like "Ghosts", "Fairies", and such, though I've had an odd with "Ink Blots Test" and "Reflexes Test" on those. "Familiar Resemblance" is still not clear to me, as I tried gathering "Breakthroughs" on "DNA Samples" of members of a specific family, but didn't get the right text... As I wrote, for many of those, you'll get a little something too for relevant recent interactions, but nothing like "Breakthroughs". When "successful", if one may say so, the repport will rather be: "John Doe brought interresting data relevant to fish migration. The other scientist present offer you §150 in compensation." or "John Doe brought interresting data relevant to fish migration that the other scientist present are eager to analyze. You received §250 for your work.", or somewhat similar

This said, though you do can make a very little sideline from "Data Correlation", it nothing like your sims career... A breakthrough likely takes two to three simhours to achieve, and it looks like a §200+ requires at least two relevant "Breakthroughs".

An important note: though no cheats or mods that I know of affect the cooldown, saving, quitting the game, launching it again and loading does resets it, sometimes allowing you to redo a "Data Correlation" right away (keep in mind though that you'll exhaust your "Breakthroughs" rather quickly that way and will only get the minimum money). It is especially usefull as I've seen the cooldown on the "Science Facility" bug sometimes, and show up insane numbers like "8555 days" or so...

A Return on the Three Performers §20k Achievements

Right after the data correlation achievement, those three end up tie on the second place regarding the longer taking achievements. Even if you do it the best possible way, it is likely going to take you longer that a sim's normal life spawn each. Off course, one can also speed up the process by using testingcheatsenabled true, refilling the need meters and killing the "Exhausted" moodlet. However, for other reasons, it only halves the time required. Honestly, these three achievements (ane maybe twice for the blogging achievement) are the only ones I used testingcheatenabled, and, as I said, it does not make such a big difference.

First of all, key part about these achievement is location. Setting your performer on the most crowded lot is not a bad idea, but it's better to set him/her on a venue that has a lot of traffic on it. Like, in the evening, in a park, you'll see like the very same six to ten sims. On the restaurant lot, you'll see maybe fifteen sims going to eat, leaving, and another sim coming, eating, leaving and so on. Once your performer starts "Performing for Tips", passing by sims will stop to watch him/her, and all those "passer by"s can result in a very very large crowd at the end of the evening. You may actually have to edit the lot to set room for your performer, though.

Second, having an audience is one thing. However, you want their money, not their booing. There are a lot of factors that affect the "Tips", and those fall in two caterogries. First are those that affect if the audience like your show: your performers career level, your performer relevant hidden skill, relevant career traits (for all: "Natural born performers", "Ambitious", "Social Butterflies", then, for "Acrobat"s: "Athletic", and for "Singers": "Virtuoso"), the "Engaging" reward, to some extend, the "That Was Deliberate!" reward, and your relationship with the specific sim in the audience. Second are those that only affect the "Tips" solely, like is the sim about to give a "Tip" "Rich" or has the "Good", "Easily Impressed", or "Excitable" traits, and if your sim has the "Mooch" trait. I *think* that "Rich" sims "Tips" get a modifier that is randomly generated between two and ten times normal tips, while the three traits give a bonus ranging between twenty and thirty percents. I believe "The Next Big Thing" rewards could also have a positive effect, but I'm not sure about it. The "Mooch" trait seem to give a flat ten percents, no matter your sims level of "Mooch" hidden skill.

Third, your sim can only perform for so long before becoming "Exhausted" themselves, or having a need falling too low, but your audience too have needs of their own, and, should you "Perform for tip" nonstop, refilling the needs and killing the moodlet", sims in your audience may "Pee Self", "Freeze Solid", fall asleep on the spot, or, sometimes "Die from Starvation", each time forcing your performance to a stop and scaring away the remaining crowd. So using testingcheatsenabled only helps a little, but not as much as one might think.

Fourth, there are couple issue, though, that you need to know before trying out for these achievements. First, you have to manually take note of your financial gains, as there are no other way to keep track of those. Second if you send your performer "On Tour" through the "SimPort", your progression is lost. I don't think it's an intended side effect, for I learned it the hard way, and you may lose several real life day worth of work by inadvertently sending out that sim.

Fifth, how much? Well, best single "Tip" one of my sim ever gotwas around §740, but you will usually see §40 to §150. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd that that the best possible tip would be around §1k, though it would need some testing. However, same sim may leave "Tips" multiple times. On a good night, your sim may make like §2k, and best I ever saw was §4k. However, expect some evening to only bring you about §600 or so... This said, the times i used testingcheatsenabled, my sim cashed in about §6k for performing for a little over twenty four hours. As you see, it does help, but as much as one might believe.

    A Return on Resorts

Resorts are not that hard to understand, as most of their functions are fairly obvious. One of the most useful tool is the "Reviews" window, as it shows you what recent guests liked (or not) about your resorts.

The only requirement for a resort to be operating is having a "Front Desk" (you actually don't have to hire somebody to operate it, as your sim can do it) and at least one "Tower" (the "Cabin" being considered a "Tower"). So, an all VIP suites luxurious hotel doesn't work, as you are required to have at least one tower.

This said, there are two achievements (potentially three), that require you to operate a Resort.

Running a zero stars resort is somewhat harder that one might think. First of all, serving no food annoys your guests, but serving spoiled food makes them even angrier, so I suggest having at least one buffet table of "Spoiled" "Lunch" (Select the cheapest quality, and keep changing it until it is foul enough). Also, guest tend to like resorts to be clean and shinny, so fire all cleaning crew, and make sure none are ever on duty. Also, grab with you all sort of garbage your sim may find, ("Rummage" through trashcans if you have to) and litter your facility. Guests also like an operated front desk, so make sure not to hire someone, and only operate it once on a while, to allow new guests to check it. Like I also suggested, once on a while, having a "Mean" sim get physical and starting a "Fight!" with guests also annoys them, so make sure to do so.

You may have to pay a close attention to review too, because, sometimes, you may end up having a strange sim leaving you a half star or a full star rating, which will temporarily raise your resort rating to half a star, hence ruining your efforts.

On the other hand, running a five stars resort is a lot harder. Not only do you have to do the opposite of everything I just wrote, you need to make sure all their other needs and expectations are met. That means having a large chlorinated pool (large enough for your clientele, for which no gauging what so ever is provided besides feedback), having enough "Hot Tubs" (again, no gauging other than reviews), having a "Dive Bar" (or "Poolside Bar", a snacks kiosk, the maximum number of sim you can hire for "Cleaning Crew", a "Front Desk" operated around the clock (though other amenities can be left unattended during the "Graveyard Shift"), a firewalking pit, enough food, at maximum quality (Fairly easy, you need a table of each, otherwise some guest will complain. As a result, your sims may eat on location and you'll still have enough food for a huge clientele.), optionally, a salt water beach on the lot (only replaces a pool at lower ratings, once you hit three stars or more, some guest will be specifically asking for a pool (or worst, indoor pool), and some will be disappointed if you don't have a beach), and a fully upgraded tower. Higher rating require either the modern "Luxurious Tower" or "Spanish Pavilion" tower

Once again, you may end up with some hard to please guest that will leave a four stars with no other explanations, possibly making your rating fall to four and a half stars, thus ruining your efforts.

    BUGGED ACHIEVEMENTS
    The following achievements are bugged:
    1. "Who Keeps Sending These?" has apparently been bugged since Into the Future.
    2. "Nice Arm!" has apparently been bugged for quite some time, as I haven't been able to find someone who would have gotten it in the last three years.
    3. "Featured Member" is arguably bugged, as one of its key part, the "Featured" section of "The Exchange", has been buggy since February. Could be fixed anytime though...

Great thread! I was surprised to see it was new (found it on a web search, and thought it must be a glitch that it didn't have the date, just the time) but you have exactly what I was looking for - the removed badges, and a lot of good tips. I'd put a great deal of work into one and then discovered that the reason I couldn't get it was it no longer existed and was trying to find what else on my lists was no longer valid.

I have 'Nice Arm', but as you say, it was almost three years ago. One oddity - I got 'And Your Little Gnome Too' just last week, when my whole family (two genies and a human) suddenly became obsessed with gnome-kicking. Thing is, the description calls for a witch to do the kicking and none of them is a witch. And there is some very useful advice here, so I'm glad I found it!

I know some people are still looking to complete some achievements that are gone today, so that why I'm trying to include them, even if only to warn fellow simmers about them.

This said, I just found three more on

I think they removed some of the achievements that didn't work and couldn't be fixed.

A lot of people put a lot of time into working out which achievements could be fixed a couple of years ago and had a SimGuru working with them and they fixed a lot of the broken ones then and then removed those that they couldn't fix.

Thanks for this thread as I have recently decided to get back into trying to get a few of the achievements and having an idea of what is required to get them is very helpful as it saves so much time and frustration with some of them. This was especially the case when some of them were so broken they couldn't be solved. If I couldn't get an achievement fairly quickly I used to get frustrated and wonder if it was broken.

One I tried to get over and over and over again and always got my Sims to do what was required but never got the achievement was one of the supernatural badges that involved having a vampire and witch parents with a ghost, werewolf and fairy children to go to the park together (or something similar - can't remember exact details now). I think that was one they couldn't fix and deleted.

I'm currently half way through making 15 witches to try to get the badge where a male sim has 15 witch partners and breaks up with 14 of them.

I'll post pictures later of all the witches I made ( because I like posting pictures :s )

    You mean this one?

Take a Break from those Monsters (Bronze) *Requires The Sims 3 Supernatural

Description: Have a Witch Sim with a Vampire Spouse and a Ghost, a Fairy and a Werewolf as children ride their broom to a Community Lot

This achievement has been removed by EA.
    —————————————————————————————————-

I guess it was simply impossible because, according to the game mechanics, only "Witches" can ride brooms... IMHO, allowing other sims to would have created other imbalance issues...

I understand you! In real life, I take tons of pictures... I took like 500 last time I went to Mexico.

This said, what are the traits you chose for your male "Jean-Pier" (from what I get, this achievement is somewhat a tribute to Bewitched!, never mind...), and what are those you chose for the "Witches"? Like I wrote, the male having "Supernatural Fan", "Flirty", "Hopeless Romantic", "Charismatic" and "Shmoozer", with the "Witches" having the same traits, but replacing "Supernatural Fan" by "Great Kisser" really speeds things up, expecially if you add "Cinamon" to the mix!

I am using the traits you suggested. But Irresistible is another one that would help him. I used that trait for my male sim who was the father of 15 children. I used 3 witches because I already had a heap of new Sims I'd made and not used.

I plan to set up a witch village in the reasonably near future. I may change some of their traits though if I use all 16 Sims I've just made for this little challenge.

When I went for a drive around Australia a few years ago I came home with over 10,000 photos. They were mostly of wildflowers and I'm using them to make designs I post on line to sell on T-shirts and things.

Well it does add interresting interractions, but I'm not sure it affects the effectiveness or receptiveness of existing relevant romantic interractions.

I found my irrestible sim had no problems with managing to get 15 babies with 3 different females. I was after 15 babies though - not 15 girlfriends. I think they were all romantic interests.

There are a few sites I've found that let you load you pictures and they put them onto products that you can make available for sale to others or to just get the products with your own designs yourself and not let the public see them.

    "SimPorting" and Mods

Though "SimPorting" is a whole aspect of TS3 by itself, two achievements require you to try it ("Sending" for "All About Town" and "Hosting" for "All The Park’s a Stage"). Neither are really complicated. This said, if you are otherwise not familiar with the "SimPort", and are not planning to use it again at all after getting the achievements, there's just one thing that is really important to know. There is a known issue with "Overwatch" and other mods that scan for "Missing Sims". When you are SimPorting, whether "Hosting" or "Sending" you should turn off the "Recover Missing Sims" feature. Otherwise, you might run into some issue with duplicate sims or your performer's inventory getting duplicated, or such. You should only turn it back on the next time you launch the game.

Hi Lexers, just wanted to thank you again for this thread. I used your suggestions for the big show venue with the genie and I finally got my badge. *happy dance* I finally got the one for playing pool also.

I didn't know that if you use simport, your sims tips are reset to zero. Ugh. I think I will just play those sims and not send them out until I earn the badge.

    Thanks again!
