What really surprised me about this game was that, I, who loves families and genetics, couldn't make it past the third generation, even when I wanted to. My original families remain stuck in time because I didn't feel satisfied with their bassinet babies turning into school-going kids, but these two families, I created just because I wanted to finally do some generational play, no carrying of babies around and lack of toddlers aside. I didn't care that these sims would age and die, as long as I could say, I made it to the fourth or fifth generation. The kids became teens and were just starting to flirt while doing their homework when I was done. I just didn't care. Like always, I had reached a level of frustration with all the bugs and things that annoy me. I came back however, and tried something new. I created anime characters, something I enjoyed greatly, but after a lot of career play and collecting, eventually wanted to do family play there too. They're also stuck, lol.
The fact that I can laugh about that shows a lot. I'm still saddened though, by how things turned out for me with this game. I would never have thought that expansions would interest me so little and that the idea of buying packs would feel wrong, even if, by chance, they would finally make the game feel more complete.
I am kind of neutral, kind of not so happy, a little of both I guess. I think I do have a lot of problems with the game though so maybe I am a not so happy simmer more than neutral. I was excited about Dine Out but the more info I get about features I'm starting to realize that the people making the game are not going the extra mile with small details and depth overall. Like not being able to work every position when running a restaurant, that's incredibly lazy imo and should have been a detail that was added. What are we supposed to do when running a restaurant as a manager? Just sit there and watch npc's basically run it for us. I get that we can hire/fire/set menu etc but after that it just seems like we will sit there and what talk to people eating there or stand around? It's not out yet though so I should probably wait and see how it works before I'm to critical.
i think Dine Out is more interesting to go out with sims than to run a restaurant as a sim
it's a place to do something together for sims, to eat together
& i hope this feature of sims waiting for a meal cooked will be actually included for sims at home too
would add some more normality into the gameplay
i won't be participating in the forums & the gallery anymore - thanks EA
I am waiting on this new patch that is suppose to be coming out today, but at the same Time I am worried that My Sims game just won't be the same after this gender change thing, they say that there won't be any townie's added for it, and that we can change them if we want to which is good for My game play, But what exactly does this mean for the future of the game itself? I am afraid that I will lose what is important to Me for My type of game play, cause I am not interested in any of that type of game play what so ever, I am old fashion and not into that type of stuff, I am worried that the sims game will lose My interest in the future, I am happy though for those who wanted that type of play style for their games, but only time will tell if the Sims franchise stops for Me after this.
PS I just had to come to My post and state what I was feeling, to get it off My chest, since this is why I made this post for.
I just miss the amount of creativity I felt with other games. I know you can still be creative in 4, but I felt like each generation had been building on the creative tools from the one before it, and this was the first time in the series where we as players saw fewer ways to create. And it's an odd time for such a decision too. Everywhere you look, more and more games are touting player freedom and creativity, and finding more ways to give players control, and you get to TS4 and it's actually pared down compared to TS3, or even 2.
This series used to feel so unique and innovative, but I feel like they're less interested in innovating and keeping competitive in the gaming world, and more interested in making small packs that don't make much of a difference in our gameplay, but will turn a quick buck. I always say, I don't hate this game, but I know it could have been so much better.
What I find the saddest part in all this is ... if we in this thread did not love the game as much as we do, we could care less about it. We wouldn't be as disappointed or upset. The more you love something the greater the power it has to hurt you.
Yup Totally, I get mad at the game and what it does sometimes, but I do Luv the franchise, and hopes it gets better yet again, Thank you for your post.
It's not so much of a dissatisfaction as it is to the constant delay in the response of the game. Not an internet thing - Example, when you click on a Sim 4 to pull up his/her menu it is such a delay. I've had new conversations before the menu comes up for me to choose a discussion to begin. Not very fluent for stirring a conversation my way.
ALSO - GENERATIONS! If I'm not on top of each of my families, Mom and/or Dad die but they are nowhere to be found. Because they wander ALL the time everywhere, when they die their urns disappear. IF the game would by default put the urn into the families Inventory, at least then it's up to us what to do with them. I've had spirit of family that I did not want spirit of . But because i couldn't release them, they wander as ghosts and texting my kids...really? Pain in the keyboard.
When a family member gets an invite but you have active with other family members, it would be nice to be able to "SEND" them on their way and keep with your current play. I've clicked on sister and trying to connect them up to play while the other one gets an invite and if I let them go, I have to go with them
The longggggg drawn out wait in between worlds is getting tiresome too. I've had my labor situations get stuck in long world change to the hospital and get there and she's having the baby in a basket outside the hospital. Then she goes home but then comes back to the hospital. EEeeck.
OH and the facial color changes - I still don't know how to fix this.
These are just a few of my pet peeves that I would think could get changed and make it better.
I agree, they should fix the stuff that is wrong with the game before adding more stuff that only seems to add to the problem's, thank you for your post, I hope all this stuff doe's get fixed soon.

I agree, what ever happened to the good ole days when Family's actually sat together at the table and had their Dinner or Supper, while chatting about the day they had or what their plans were for the following day? a lot of things that pertain to family is just not in there, the part that upset's Me as well, is when you make a family and then you have to keep introducing them over and over, that just makes me think that Family life in the Sims 4 won't be there, that is why I do not think Toddler's will be added, because the lack of Family style play with emotions and such, thank you kindly for your post.
Don't get me wrong, I play for hours on TS4 and I actually enjoy it, but something definitely feels 'off' about the game. Yes, we all know its little history on how it was supposed to be an online game; therefore, most interactions and animations are visibly shortcutted. But these small details in animation are what made TS2 (even just its base game) so lovable.
For example, TS4 has multiple 'joke', 'discuss', and other '... about [topic]' interactions, but in actuality, it's the same animation and the speech bubble has no correlation to [topic] at all, so why make it so complex with the multiple interactions?
Speaking of animations, I'm sorry, but some interactions such as kissing are just sloppily put together. I mean, the sims' lips don't touch most of the time! Also, I gotta admit, but I miss the sinful and over-the-top romantic animations in TS2 (I mean come on, you laughed at least once at the debauchery of the 'make out on couch' and 'goose' animations!) To me, I feel like the sims in the second game showed more emotion than these sims in this recent game!
I miss how the kids would run up and hug their parent after they got back to work, the popping of pimples on teenagers (and that nasty splat on the mirror), the pulled out knives/spoons from the counter drawers when preparing meals, the comical animation of the 'slap' interaction, how surrounding sims would laugh at your shy sim if they can't dance, the jumping of joy and excitement your kid/teen would get after receiving an A at school, the closing of your sim's car door twice just because it's a cheap car and it can't close properly, the wafting of a delicious meal's aroma, the nonchalant fanning of your burning sim (THAT was funny), the wide and surprised eyes of the reciprocating sim who is being 'smooched' then moaning in approval mid-kiss, kids waving goodbye to their bus driver after disembarking, the occasional yawn of a sim watching TV (while relaxing on the couch might I add), the little stool that pops out of nowhere for children who barely can reach washing their hands in the sink, the finger-brushing along the words of a book along with the silent lip reading of your sims followed by the silent gasp of intrigue when your sims read, the intense swaying of your sim's body when they play a video game along with the both-hands-push-slowly-out- and-breathe frustration animation when they lose, the backflips made when jumping on the couch/bed if you're a child, and the evil and cunning rubbing of the hands of a sim just about to perform a mean interaction...
The list can go on (sorry nostalgia hit me pretty hard there hahah) but I'm pretty sure most can agree that if TS4 had these small details in its animation, paired with an improved emotion system, the gameplay would be 10x better than what it has now.
Six Flags may have the big coasters, but Disneyland's small details are what draws the crowd...

what you are describing are plain bugs, it's not intended that you have to introduce children to their parents, i suppose it's because babies are objects & parents of baby objects interact with an object & not with another sim, the child which is another sim for the first time in its "life" has to be introduced because before that there was just an object
& about the "good ol' days", i don't know them, never experienced them, it's more of a dream, a wish that things should be nicely working, so if i want a perfectly happy family i am playing a concept of a happy family ... same as i play other concepts, of wrecked families, of homeless ... whatever comes to my mind & seems interesting to play
this game should provide tools to make those concepts possible to play them out, i think this is what this franchise has to be
that's why every limitation of those tools is limiting directly the gameplay itself

No open world is killing me I honestly can't enjoy the Sims 4 with all the loading screens, especially when there's Sims 3 with amazing open worlds and its own world editor... It really sucks cause I like the game otherwise but I can't play it for longer than a few minutes And it's not something they can ever fix, either..

I am sorry your having so much trouble with the loading part, Thanks for sharing, I hope the game gets better for you for the future.
I am enjoying the game but I think there is a lot of room for improvement. For example, there aren't enough lots on the worlds, and the more content is added this omission becomes even more glaring. I like my Sims to have a lot of things to do in town, and these towns are too limiting.
I also am not as enthralled by the worlds as I was with the Sims 3 worlds. In my opinion, some of them were just more interesting and unique. Hopefully this is a problem that will be corrected with the addition of more, better worlds.
All in all, I do still like it. I think the 2 expansions have been great, other than the retail career feeling broken (employees who won't work, etc.) I also love the game packs, particularly the choices in theme. But I hope they make these improvements. And add a casino!

Speaking of worlds, that reminds me of something else that bugs me. I'm tired of having the same residential worlds in each game. It gets old fast. One thing I really love about Sims 2, is the high level of customization for my worlds. Even though I never tried my hand at creating new maps, I have been able to create a HUGE variety of worlds over the years with the maps I have. I can create a world from any era. But I can't really do that with Sims 4. I can use CC to make lots from different eras, but the backdrops will be the same, and it breaks the immersion for me. Yeah, Sims 2 has the road & mailboxes (unless I use default replacements), but it's not as obvious to me. I have also been very impressed with the variety of worlds available in Sims 3. I feel like I have a lot more options for how I want to play with both games, in comparison to Sims 4. It occurred to me today that although I could now make an awesome "book accurate" Brienne of Tarth for Sims 4, I don't have the ability to make a reasonable Westeros or medieval themed world. Brienne would have to live in one of the Sims 4 worlds, there are no options for anything different. And that's disappointing for me.
I think I could enjoy Sims 4 a lot more if I wasn't limited to the same residential worlds.

Yes I think that as well, I was asking EA reps on the phone, to write Me down as wanting a Monsterville town or world, I had made one in My Sims 2, all my Vampires, Werewolves, Zombie's and such live there,

Yes, I agree with this. It's great you can travel between 'worlds' in 4, though so far those worlds aren't worlds, but neighborhoods. All those neighborhoods combined, when you own all content available, are the same size as Sunset Valley now (which you only need the basegame for). Lot wise that is, because Sunset Valley has way more room in between. Some will consider that room empty space but even when you do, you can throw in as many lots into that open space as you like. The fact neighborhoods in 4 have such completely different atmospheres is as much a strength as a weakness. It feels as if the sims are traveling between different worlds, but they are in fact very tiny neighborhoods which feels strange to me.
I played Sims 4 again yesterday btw, but I'm sorry to say the experience hasn't changed for me yet. I'm just pushing them around, watching them swaying from emotion to emotion without any clear reason (which goes so quickly that they are completely useless and mean nothing) and the fact they hardly ever face sims they're talking to just might very well be one of my main dealbreakers.

Yup I Agree, I think it is very odd when they talk or wave to another Sim, and they are facing their Backs to each other, I am like whoa and talk for My Sims by saying you need to face me buddy,
I am fine with the game really it's the company I am disgusted with. They have used transgender people to make sales and made a fiasco out of it. They have the nerve to shut down threads for being politically charged after doing a politically charged update. I see people who are uncomfortable with the update getting bashed and having their threads shut down even when they are not being nasty.
I hate this update because of the ugliness it has shown from our community and the ironic thing is that I see it mostly from the pro update people. Even when an anti update person is respectful they are prodded and poked until they say something that can be picked apart.

I've mostly seen threads closed due to some very nasty hateful language being used. From all sorts of positions.
It's fine to say that you don't particularly want this feature-and it's optional so you don't ever need to use it.
The issues have arisen with the added words people have used to describe it. 'Creepy' 'mentally ill' 'abnormal' are just a few. That's not appropriate and while I understand some people don't like the patch you can absolutely say so without getting drawn into a personal comment situation.
I don't think the hateful comments are more from one 'side' over another. People have been very ugly to one another from all positions. There isn't an excuse for that-but that's why report and flagging posts is an option. Mods are here to deal with the inappropriate posts and to decide what they consider inappropriate. All we can do is to report from where ever you see it.
Obviously I have never posted anything, so hello to everyone I just wanted to say that 4 really sucks and it's only for the fact that I don't have an open world. It is the most frustrating thing to have to load every single time I leave my house. Why... I had 2 and then when 3 came out and I heard about the worlds, it was like the heavens opened up to me and screamed my name. So I got 4 without hesitation. But then I played and I can't even go anywhere! The game is really good and I like literally everything else except for the world thing. Like that's just the absolute worst thing they could've ever done is go right back to how 2 was. And I don't even like playing, cause I literally get so bored being stuck at my sims home all day. And in all honesty, if I had watched a video about 4 before I got it and saw how the worlds were, I would not have bought the game. I threw away the receipt cause I mean, it's Sims 4... 3 was bomb so why wouldn't 4 be? But I'm like so disappointed. And I know, I'm exaggerating but, to me, this is a big deal breaker. I wish I had the receipt so I could return the game and just stick with 3 until they come out with 5 and, hopefully, change it back.
Also, I really miss the community idea they gave us in 3. Like how we had "The Exchange" and everyone could upload their creations for others to download and enjoy. Like now if I want extra stuff, I have to go through other websites and download them from there. I just felt so much more secure doing it from "The Sims" creators and not just random websites. And we still have "The Community" (I think that's what it's called) when you're in the game and can download others creations, but if their creations have external cc then that doesn't work if you haven't downloaded that exact content which really kinda sucks. It's not that big of a deal, it was just nice how 3 helped us come together like that.
Another thing that's really not that big of a deal, but it'd be nice if they could maybe fix it with a patch or something... is the custom music. In 3 they gave us a specific folder in the actual Sims file on your computer that was just for custom music. Which, I thought, was just the best thing ever. And now, you have put your music in other music folders. So like, I have all my music in "Electronica" and when I'm in my game I hear my music and their pre-set music. Which is kind of annoying cause sometimes I just wanna hear music, my sims aren't listening or dancing, I just wanna hear music and the other music gets in the way.

I would never have thought that expansions would interest me so little and that the idea of buying packs would feel wrong, even if, by chance, they would finally make the game feel more complete.
i think Dine Out is more interesting to go out with sims than to run a restaurant as a sim
it's a place to do something together for sims, to eat together
& i hope this feature of sims waiting for a meal cooked will be actually included for sims at home too
would add some more normality into the gameplay
PS I just had to come to My post and state what I was feeling, to get it off My chest, since this is why I made this post for.
Agree, thank you or your post.
Yup Totally, I get mad at the game and what it does sometimes, but I do Luv the franchise, and hopes it gets better yet again, Thank you for your post.
I agree, they should fix the stuff that is wrong with the game before adding more stuff that only seems to add to the problem's, thank you for your post, I hope all this stuff doe's get fixed soon.
I hear ya, I can only hope that the game gets better for you, and thank you for your post.
Yup that is true as well, thanks for sharing.
I am sorry your having so much trouble with the loading part, Thanks for sharing, I hope the game gets better for you for the future.
And add a casino!
only time will tell, thank you for your post,
I think I could enjoy Sims 4 a lot more if I wasn't limited to the same residential worlds.

Yes I think that as well, I was asking EA reps on the phone, to write Me down as wanting a Monsterville town or world, I had made one in My Sims 2, all my Vampires, Werewolves, Zombie's and such live there,
I played Sims 4 again yesterday btw, but I'm sorry to say the experience hasn't changed for me yet. I'm just pushing them around, watching them swaying from emotion to emotion without any clear reason (which goes so quickly that they are completely useless and mean nothing) and the fact they hardly ever face sims they're talking to just might very well be one of my main dealbreakers.
Yup I Agree, I think it is very odd when they talk or wave to another Sim, and they are facing their Backs to each other, I am like whoa and talk for My Sims by saying you need to face me buddy,
I hate this update because of the ugliness it has shown from our community and the ironic thing is that I see it mostly from the pro update people.

There's a little cog in the top right corner of the post. Edit it quickly and put brackets saying something like "[double post]" or something.
