On the topic of resizing and optimizing screenshots to save space on free blogs/webhosts, @ValoisFulcanelli made a really good post with examples of just how much space you can save by doing so, which can be found here. I recommend checking it out, it might make a handy link to add to that section of the guide!
I noticed that you didn't have anyone 'representin' for blogger/blogspot. I thought I would add that this is the site that I use for all my stories.
I chose it for various reasons. Firstly I started blogging long before I started blogging for Sims, and blogger (as it was known then) seemed the best option. And I haven't been disappointed. It is google based which means it ties in with my email accounts, Google connect etc. Which also means that any blogger blogs I follow come up on my reader too!
It uses Picasa for hosting the photos on the blogs which means ample storage space - great for my now picture heavy Sims tales.
The sites are fully customizable and it can be as easy or as complicated as you want. It has great pre-loaded looks that can all be customised (colours, fonts, sizes, spacing) as you wish through and easy interface. Or you can get more into it with direct access to it's coding. There are also loads of sites offering free downloads of designs. Adding and removing of widgets is a simple drag and drop affair.
It has the option of static pages or blog posts. Easy scheduling and labelling. You can have multiple people signed on to put up posts/admin etc good for collaborations. And there is basic page and individual post stats for those who are interested in their traffic.
Big thumbs up from me for blogger! (Sorry, blogspot, never going to get the hang of that! lol)
@Julyvee94 this is such a great thread! I have been reading SimsLit for years, but only started (attempting to) write it myself in the last week. I love learning useful tips the easy way, from the experience of others!
@cully_c Thank you for useful information!
I discovered only recently that I needn't register on BlogSpot. I'm so slow!
And again thanks @Julyvee94 for the thread - so much to learn!
@cecerose0208 I am glad that you find it useful If you're doing a neighbourhood rotation you might also search for "The Neighborhood Rotation Thread" Where you can share rotating practices and experiences
Edit: it's one of my threads so just click my username, then click discussions on the left and you will find it there

Thanks! I didn't even know there was a thread just for that. I feel like I'm in one of those commercials where people keep saying, "there's an app for that." Lol.
Hello @Julyvee94 , thank you for the tips, especially on advertising. I am currently playing a challenge I've created and writing a story around it. Unfortunately I am not an English native speaker, so I don't think I'll publish my story here any time soon, but I hope that your tips can be adapted for stories in other languages.
@lisi_ja there are a lot who are not English native speaker. I am from Austria and my native language is German. @Julyvee94 speaks German too. Then we have here also Dutch or Korean or Czech rebuplic. You see this is no reason to not post
@Marialein Thanks for the insight! I currently live in Germany so my main language is also German, but I grew up in Brazil. I don't think that my English is yet good enough for writing thrilling stories, but maybe I should try it ;-)

Besides a few tiny errors (errors that even native English speakers make), I wouldn't have even considered the possibility that you weren't a native speaker...
@lisi_ja there are many non native speakers here! And your english sounds great feel free to post your story there are many non natives who post stories who's english is not as good as yours (from what I've read) and many people enjoy them nontheless
@SilentWolf101 and @Julyvee94 Thank you for the kind and encouraging words Now I will have to translate my story ;-) It's not finished yet, but I think that I will open a thread and maybe you can come by and give me feedback on it ;-)

I gave it a bit of thought and decided not to add the "How do I come up with ideas?" question to the guide. The main reason is that I want to keep this a guide for the concept of SimLit and not for creative writing in general If I started including questions like this I would have to include others too and that would blow the whole guide out of proportion and only confuse new members Hope you all understand ^^
Helpful Guides for the Sims Forums
If you are new to the sims forums or haven't been around for a while, you might feel lost and ask yourself: How do I use this forum? This guide by @SilentWolf101 explains the sims forum in detail and gives you basic guides on what you can do here.
Writer's Lounge
The Writer's Lounge is a relaxed place for sims story writers to hang out and chat. This thread moves fairly quickly, like a group chat on your phone. You don't have to keep up with every single post, just pop in and say hi whenever you feel like talking. Topics mostly involve stories and writing, but can also drift off topic sometime. This is a good place to make friends and get to know other writers from this forum.
Sims and Friends
Sims and Friends is a thread similar to the Writer's Lounge; it's located in the general stories and legacies section. This thread is also a great place to make friends with other writers. The pace of this thread is usually slower and people usually keep up with all the posts.
The Art of Sims Storytelling Cozy Corner Writer's Nook
These Two Threads have a similar purpose: To hold in-depth analysis and discussion about writing in general and sims story writing in particular. If you like to talk about meaning behind your writing, common writer's goals or obstacles, about techniques and other in-depth thoughts, you should check these threads out.
Stories and Legacies Index
The Stories and Legacies Index is a great place to find new stories. It's a link collection run by our awesome librarian @mastressalita and strives to list every sims story related site, thread or blog - even youtube channels! If you are looking for stories, you should check it out. Also, you should submit your own site for listing. It doesn't matter if you're new or seasoned if your story is long or short, whatever: Any sims story can be submitted.
Weekly Reading Roundup
Also run by @mastressalita the weekly reading roundup gives a weekly sampling of the sites listed in the stories and legacies Index. In each roundup, mastressalita will sample a few stories and give a brief description and praise, so others will know what the stories are about. If you are looking for stories to read but don't know where to begin, this is your thread.
It's Done
If you enjoy reading stories at your own pace and not worrying about keeping up with new chapters, this thread is for you. It lists complete stories! If you have a complete story, you can submit it here, too.
SimCom
SimCom is a sims community thread which contains several aspects of the sims community, such as build showcases, story recommendations, tips and tricks on building, cas showcases, interviews with other simmers and more!
Monthly Short Story Challenge
If you are looking for challenges to your writing, you should check out the monthly short story challenge. Each month there is a theme which challenges you to create a short story within certain word and picture limits. At the end of the month the three winners are determined by a community vote. Any Sims version is allowed!
Book Club
Each week, book club presents one story nominated by someone from the community which you should read/sample. Throughout the week, everyone shares their thoughts on the featured story. On Friday, it's Coffee Hour, which means that the coffee hour host asks more in-depth questions about the story and the readers and the author answer them - which results in a great discussion about the story that is being read. Anyone can nominate stories to read or volunteer as coffee hour host. It's great fun!
Comments
Heh, that's a lot better than my question. XD But yeah, that's what I meant. ^-^ You're welcome!
Yes, I'm still working on my stories. But I am restarting them (again). Links will come when they're up.
