Windows 10 and the Sims 4

Whenever I try upgrading to Windows 10 my Sims game crashes in build buy mode. The game runs fine until I go want to purchase something, then I get the black screen. I tried updating twice. I couldn't get it to work. So I went back to Windows 7. Is there anything I can do for this?

    Hello
When you have upgraded to windows 10, did you also update your graphics drivers for Windows 10? If you didn't , try doing that and see if it helps the issue.

If you are playing on a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, do what is in this thread.

Try switching back to 32 bit mode when you have upgraded and see if that helps. To do that ,
Go to My Games in Origin . Right click on The Sims 4 picture.
    Click on “Game Properties”
Change the “When launching this Game” setting to “The Sims 4 32-bit"

Just add the section under "Display Adapter" since it's obviously a driver problem.

Do you have a video card in the PCI X16 slot? The NVIDIA GeForce 9100 is really weak. But the age and the fact that it uses DDR2 memory makes upgrades not worth the price.

Yeah, we need to see what kinda video card you have. Can you post the rest? Some video cards are not suitable and not supported by Windows 10 even if they say you can upgrade it. It's always best to check.
Since you have a Windows 7 computer, I'm guessing your video card might be quite old and might be risky to upgrade to Windows 10.

The 300 watt power supply in that HP may not be enough for a mid range video card. I'm guessing about $150 for a power supply and mid range video card will get TS4 running again. BUT the cpu is generations behind, the memory is now 2 generations behind (DDR4 is out now). It would be hard to recover any added investment. Microsoft is giving away (like in FREE) upgrades from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Windows 7 is now on extended support until January 14, 2020. Good luck and take care.

I will post more when I get time later today. I did install a Nvidia Geforce 8400s video card years ago after buying my computer. I know that's not the greatest either, but it was doing fine until I tried Windows 10. As stated previously I probably can't handle that on my computer. That's fine with me. Thank you all for your replies. I'll post more as I said earlier.

I think the GeForce 8xxx series ran hot to the point of self destruction. They were a good card at the time if you kept them cool. Nvidia does have a Win 10 driver for that card.
