@MDianaSanders nice to hear that you like the guide and this info is super helpful! However I think all the sites mentioned have a feature to schedule posts to come out at a certain time and I don't want to mention it for only one sites if the other sites have it as well. Is there something that makes the tumblr queue different from normal post scheduling? (I don't use tumblr so I sincerely don't know).
It allows you to both queue and schedule. When you schedule, you set the date and time you want a post to come out. With the queue, you add posts to the queue and it will automatically release the next post in x hours.
For example, my current settings are 2 post a day between 12am and 12am, which means it post one at 8am and one at 4 pm in my timezone. If you want it to release at a different time, you have to either increase or decrease the release frequency. It's a sort of auto-scheduler so to speak, you skip the step of actually scheduling because that's done for you.
I loved the new Advertisement/ Promotion section that you've added! The tips are really useful. Thanks July! I think I'll be posting my story's link in the Writer's Lounge very soon!
@remi_narrow I'm glad you like it! And I'm looking forward to welcoming you in the lounge ^^ Make sure to get to know everyone because there are awesome people there (and be careful not to accidentally pull a hit and run )
Do you guys have any other questions you would like to add?
Oh! Have you seen @NoWayJose527 's awesome posts on creating a scene? She's got five parts to it so far with at least one more coming. It would be really useful somewhere... maybe in a "I've got my Sims, now what?" section or something. It's tips for creating a dynamic and interesting story... https://jonathanchronicles.wordpress.com/2016/03/22/making-a-scene/
@CathyTea I've seen it and they are super helpful! But I think I want to keep this guide a beginners one for SimLit and not an advanced guide for writing in general so I won't add it for now I hope you understand!
Edit: did you post those in the Art of Sims Storytelling thread though? Or the writer's nook? I think that would be a great place for these guides

Ok! Sounds great! I did mention it in Writers' Lounge when earlier parts came out!
@CathyTea I've read all of the parts so far they are really good I just think beginners might feel overwhelmed if I started posting writing guides as well.
It's so wonderful to know that there are people out there besides me posting guides! ^-^ This is why I love the sims community! ^-^
(BTW, for those who didn't know, I have a site full of guides not only on the forums, but also on WordPress, sims 3, and soon to be sims 4. It is listed as "Helpful Guides to the sims forums" (post 3) as well as "this site" (post 1)). ^-^
Wow @Julyvee94 And no, I don't have any additions at this point. Seeing that reading through the comments here, there is still soooo much to be found on improving what I like doing. Wow, again This is an absolute great compilation and guide for beginning SimLit writers! Thank you for sharing.
Myself I've just started writing last year because I thought it would be fun. I totally didn't and still don't know much concerning SimLit or writing lol, but the sharing alone is so much fun nonetheless. Now I am well into my story's first generation and wondering sometimes on how to not only have fun but to do my best also. I strive to get better so I am very happy I stumbled on this thread for so many great pointers. Bookmarking
Thank you so much to everyone commenting and making it an even more complete bundle of info btw
Thanks a lot @Twiggy I am glad that you like the guide I just hope one of the gurus ( *hopefully pokes at @SimGuruDrake *) might see this and sticky it so it can be most helpful to new people
If you're looking to improve your writing in general you might want to check out the art of sims storytelling and the writer's nook thread where people talk about writing techniques (The links are in the 4th post of this thread)
Thank you and yes I lurk around there sometimes to read but this gets quite technical for me to translate sometimes and I feel I hardly ever have a good dime to contribute to the comments of awesome writers there. I keep trying to not hit and run and poke my nose in now and then though.

I'm kind of a bit scared to post here, but I just wanted to say that I like you and that just from that one post of yours in my thread I would say that you have the makings of a good writer, and if you ever need help or have questions you can send me a message. I am not very good at being a beta reader, but I'd be willing to try if you ever needed one.
@Julyvee94 Oh, if only a guru *Cough cough* @SimGuruDrake *cough cough* would sticky the thread. However, it's VERY hard to get a thread stickied... Or so I've heard. Hence why I moved my guides outside of the forums and onto a WordPress site, then linked it in my siggy...
Totally agreed. Sticky this thread, they should. If not by the Drake maybe the bear could help out? @SimGuruPanda But I am as clueless as ever, so sorry if I am wrong here.
@Twiggy I'm not sure who is in charge of stickying threads but maybe it also needs more work before it can get stickied. So if you know of any common questions beginners ask, just tell me
@SilentWolf101 well I think even a not stickied thread can be more seen as long as it is regularly bumped maybe someday it will get stickied.

*hugs* Perhaps you could do something along the lines of coming up with ideas for simlit, where you could include another link to the short stories challenges thread? For example, "Could anybody help me come up with an idea for a new simlit?"

It allows you to both queue and schedule. When you schedule, you set the date and time you want a post to come out. With the queue, you add posts to the queue and it will automatically release the next post in x hours.

Maybe the official explanation is more clear: https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/advanced_post_options#queue; https://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/advanced_post_options#schedule (I checked, you can access them without being online/having an account)
It does end up in the same batch, so I guess it's similar enough.

Oh no... I'll try my best to stay active in that thread!
This is a guide for the concept and practices of SimLit not for creative writing within SimLit
