@chealsycat Ugh I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles maybe youcan use another blog presented in this guide? It seems like weebly is easier to Design
@Julyvee94 this is really fantastic what you have done here, all the time and effort put into really shows and I hope that this gets stickied for sure by one of the Gurus! (Should we tag them more than once so they see this? I don't want to spam them of course but this is really helpful)
And for anyone who has questions about making your Tumblr blogs, feel free to reach out to me. As I stated in the guide there are so many options when it comes to Tumblr.
Thank you everyone for trying to help me! Thank you @SilentWolf101 for the useful guide!
So I wasted two day reading instructions, guides, googling, searching YouTube... and trying, trying, trying...
I realized one thing: Wordpress is not for such stupid people like me. I give up.
My current state:
Hiya, Chealsy! I'm sure you'll be able to get it. It just takes a little bit of time and some one-to-one. It would be my joy to help!
I'm working on lots of things at the moment, so it might take us a few days of PMs back and forth to get through everything. But we can do it!
If you wanted, we could even create a thread JUST for this, with us going through the steps and asking all the questions! That way, others could also help and also ask questions. But if you felt more comfortable with PMing it, that works for me, too.
I guess what I'm saying is that YES! You can figure it out. It might take a little while, and there might be mistakes along the way, but that's how we learn!
Some of us, like me and July, work making websites all day long and have for years, so the coding comes naturally to us by now, but we remember what it was like when we first got started. I remember what it was like when I made so many mistakes! So, I'll be happy to help!
Btw, the funniest thing is - I was told on Wordpress that I follow chealsycat
I have no idea how that happened. But now I follow myself like my cats follow their tails
Thank you everyone for trying to help me! Thank you @SilentWolf101 for the useful guide!

Oh Cathy! Thank you! That would be great!
And I think that creating the special thread would be best of all. It may be useful for other beginners, too.
You don't have to hurry with that - I can wait. Just one thing - clever words like "Domain" etc. make my poor head square. I need loads of pictures with arrows saying: "press this", "print this here" etc.

Yay! Why don't you create the thread? Then post your first question--or even all the questions you have, like "what does 'domain' mean" and so on? Then, we can pop through during the day!
I'll have a little time every day when I can post a few thoughts, screenshots, and tips, so we'll get through this step by step, even if it takes a week or more!
And think how helpful it will be to the next ones who come through and want to get started! With all the experts here, you're sure to get plenty of help, too!
@CathyTea so that new thread should be solely related to wordpress? then I would link it here as well
Yes! It would be like a step-by-step from (almost) at the very beginning! Chealsy would ask her question, and we'd go through and answer them... sort of like a tour through getting started and moving through all the pitfalls. (She's actually got an awesome site already, complete with gorgeous header banner and more! So this would probably focus on the fine points of customizing, like getting the footer set up and the widgets, selecting a theme, playing with fonts, and so on.)
That would be cool to link to it here when it's set up! I hope it becomes a place where people getting started can find help as they move through all the tricky and potentially confusing aspects of choosing themes, setting up categories, using tags, setting up menus, and so on.
The "Useful and interesting Thread" section now contains brief descriptions of all the presented threads. If you feel like any important thread is missing, please contact me!
@CathyTea that's a great idea! Tell me when it's up so I can link it

July, that list of threads is fantastic! Super useful, and I think it will help folks find welcomes in lots of places! Really neat!
Hi! Just popped in to say that this is really fantastic and I love how you keep developing this even further. I too got some really useful tips from here, so thank you for that! *bookmarked*
My Sims stories: The Fey of Life - fairytales in life are few and far between (Forum thread HERE) The Chrysanthemum Tango - a story about life, death, magic, and how to be a good landlady (Forum thread HERE) Forget-Me-Not - some things just refuse to stay buried; an Ambrosia Challenge story (Forum thread HERE)
As the fabulous @CathyTea suggested, I added this page from the official sims blog to the questions "How do I get perfect screenshots?" as it is super helpful
Great thread I wish it had been there a couple of months ago, or even long before that. Glad it's there now, for those who are new to writing or still hesitant
I don't think the queue feature on Tumblr has been mentioned yet (if it has, it's due to the fact that I haven't read everything in detail yet). I think it's absolutely ideal. I take some time in the weekend to sit down and write out all the chapters (or scenes, rather, they're too short to be called chapters) for the coming week. I add them to the queue and don't have to bother about them anymore. It just releases at set times until the queue is empty - you do have to make time/plan to add some more at some point if you don't want it to run out. Seeing as the queue is meant to release posts multiple times a day, you can chop up a larger chapter in smaller bits and not lose continuity because the next bit will release only a few hours later. You can have 1-50 posts released each day, even in a particular timeframe. For a story I would pick 2-4 posts a day, but depends on the length of each post and personal preference of course.
@Julyvee94 If you'd like to add the above statement somewhere on the first pages (maybe the "How often should I update?" section), feel free to edit it into a suitable form
