Party On!
Well hello there!
It's been an eternity since I updated this thread.
Sadly these pictures have been sitting here as a draft while I try to make TS4 more enjoyable to play, by any means necessary.
Now I have to probe my memory to disloge what all happened that night.
The party guests sought out means to keep themselves entertained while Shirley turned in for the night.
One of the dancers is enjoying a mud bath while Xara plans to either receive a message or give one.
Cairo arrived back from bachelor exile to find the party going on, but his future wife missing.
He might as well get something to eat before turning in himself.
They look like they are really enjoying themselves.
Hold on...
Geez, what did Angie do to Nina to get her all riled up.
Time for some payback!
Showering Nina Van Horn with champagne isn't punishment. It's a reward.
Congratulations! She's your friend again.
That's right...
Hold the pinky out just so....
Aww... your adorable future wife.
They are just having a blast.
Yeah, I'm thinking it:
How are their children going to look?
Alright!
Dancing on counter tops--this party has reached it's zenith.
Okay, enough excitement for you.
It's time to wind down now.
But they aren't exactly running off to their homes.
On the contrary, they are making themselves at home.
Alright, but be warned:
Xara has a thing for blondes.
You might wake up to find yourself entangled by a tentacle monster.
???
Up from a quick sleep?
!!!
Darn it, she burned the waffles!
Perhaps she should go with pancakes instead.
These two should wake up refreshed, and shocked to a house still full of people.
Arlene is still here.
Frances, Evelyn, and Angie are still here.
Kind of deja vu---it's like they never left. I am feeling nostalgic.
Rise and shine lady of the house; why don't you take a trip downstairs.
I love this topic! It shows a lot of gameplay and tempts me to play sims again - which I don't have a lot of time for now I'm with my family in North-France.
Taling about North-France:
I've seen houses like this a lot today! Inspired by north-french houses?

The Wedding
The Day is finally here and it's a fitting way to end the Bachelor Challenge.
It should be called the Bachelorette challenge. It's really not all that difficult for the Bachelor.
Well, the actual choosing would be agonizing, but other than that...
Arlene!
I thought she was going to be a no-show.
And she's pregnant! Wow, when did that happen?
Better late than never--waddle on over there.
At least she didn't miss the ceremony.
The guest list is rather sad.
As a trial run, I kind of rushed through the challenge as I tried figure out how it would work. There is supposed to a social phase once they were in the mansion. The bachelor is a popular guy with lots of friends and lots of great parties. Cairo didn't live up to that.
I believe I will really enjoy this challenge even more when I play it again. It will be more structured and less scattered--focused.
I believe I will try another challenge first. There is still my asylum challenge.
Wow, I was really reaching to find people to invite.
The blonde woman is someone Cairo and Angie met on their date at the resort hotel.
Ah ah ah, none of that.
No second thoughts, or what ifs--Shirley is the one.
???
Who brought a dog? He's making a mess.
I'd better call a repairman to fix that shower.
Never mind the dog, It's nice having the other girls here.
I would like Shirley to stay in contact with them and also see how story progression shapes their lives. I probably won't play them.
Okay, you can stop celebrating the cake cutting now, Nina.
It's time for the dance.
Hmm...
Legacy.
I did have some ideas for generational play.
I will probably tap into them as I play Shirley and Cairo.
This is the repairman.
Maybe Shirley will even become good friends with Frances.
Anything can happen.
I think Angie might be her best friend.
Wait!
You're engaged? Where's the ring?
Are you pretending? That's kind of sad.
She must be engaged. That's good. It save me the trouble.
I'll probably see her husband and say, No way! I gotta fix that.
Hey, what's going on with Frances back there?
Is that a flea?
You have fleas?
Then...
Ugh! You brought that dog to Shirley's wedding.
What... ug!
It's probably not even yours.
You probably found that flea bitten mutt on your way over and brought it to poop and pee all over the place and spread fleas in their bed. It's fitting that you are the one who has fleas instead.
Aww... I do believe Shirley's children will have Arlene's children as playmates.
I hope she's having that baby out of love and not some psychological fallout from losing this challenge.
She may be writing a book in the future: Reality Ruins: How Reality Shows Can Ruin Your Life.
[sigh...]
Xara...
Yep, best friend.
As for Frances, she's going back to Nemesis status.
This is nice and all... but, Cairo, get in here.
You know what to do.
It's baby making time.
They heard the chimes. Now it's all about the waiting, and reading maternity books.
Lovely to see some of your TS3 screenies and stories. Have you given up on TS4 for a while? I did try to go back to TS3 about 6 months ago but I just found the art style jarring (I didn't have any cc in TS3 - no skin overlays or eye replacements - so my Sims looked odd to me after the graphic style of TS4, which I do prefer now). Plus my game took about a half hour to load... Buuuut... I did love all the gameplay options we had with TS3. I'm so missing weather in 4. Toddlers too, but not as much as weather. I've bought a new PC since then and I don't have the patience to re-install all umpteen EPs and SPs
I re-downloaded The Sims Medieval the other day, and that's fun for an hour or so; and I have TS2 Ultimate Collection, and I play that a bit too when I need a break from 4... I do have high hopes for 4, I hope not misguided ones. I think it has the potential to be as good as 3 (and 2) eventually... I know it's only a year and a half old at the moment and we're only 2 EPs in but it just lacks a bit of depth. Still, I will carry on playing and hoping. Hoping, too, that they change their marketing strategy and start to let people know what's on the horizon a bit sooner (man, it's brutal on some of the threads over in Sims 4 General Discussion, a lot of fed-up Simmers wanting news and not getting it...). Anyhow, nice to see your TS3 tales - keep posting 'em!

Going through that, I can understand simmers would give up on TS3.
It is jarring going back from TS4's heavy color saturation alone. I don't like TS4's meshes and textures, but it's still a very pretty game despite that.
It think it takes me about 10 minutes to load up TS3. I bypass the launcher which helps. My games are on an SSD, but my Sims 3 folder is on a hard drive. I don't totally trust SSDs yet to keep all my data on them.
My deadly reality show had me interested in TS4 for a bit, but I find myself annoyed with EAs silence on what's coming. And all I really want is toddlers and Pre-teens right now. So I think it's time to take a long TS4 break, even if a game pack comes out. I want to know what the next EP is going to be. I'm hanging it all up until winter if it's not Generations.
[edit]
I just loaded the game and timed it.
It took 5 minutes, which took me by surprise. I have a lot of CC.
Personally I gave up on TS4 months ago. I don't like the cartoon look and the plastic textures, and can't play it at all without CC and mods, but the constant patching is a pain. It's so great with TS3 now that merry-go-round stuff is over and done.
I didn't take the time to comment the other day when I read it, but that party! Some of the screenshots you caught were hilarious, especially Cairo's.
I've had this thread bookmarked for ages - it's great seeing you back again and I look forward to future stories.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?!

Hi, HappySimmer3.
The last picture I posted was actually taken in October of 2014. I am just catching up.
I am shocked that I hadn't played TS3 for that long. I'll probably start posting again once they have a second child.
Yeah, I totally get that. They're guessing over in General Discussion that the next EP will be in early summer - maybe June. I really want it to be Generations or Seasons but I think Seasons didn't arrive in TS3 until a good halfway through the series... So let's hope to goodness it's Generations! I've been playing Skyrim a lot lately too (I know, very late to the party ) and that's diverting, and I bought the new Dragon Age when it was on sale a while ago and haven't fired it up yet, so I have plenty to keep me occupied until toddlers and/or weather make an appearance
After months of on-and-off attempts to get into TS4 and feeling too discouraged to play any Sims game at all, I finally went back to TS3 last June and fell in love all over again. It was truly a bittersweet experience; I had plenty of criticisms of TS3 the entire time it was the current game, but after experiencing TS4 I discovered a new-found appreciation.
I hope you enjoy getting back into it because I would love to see more stories from you and will keep your thread bookmarked. But if something draws you back to TS4, well, c'est le vie.
The Sims
Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?!
Domestic Bliss
Peace and quiet and living at a much slower pace.
It's nice having only a few sims to play.
Now it's time to prepare for the baby.
That doesn't mean Shirley is slacking off.
She's up bright and early to check on their properties. Actually property. They only have the community garden/ nectary as in investment. I must have sold off their share of the grocer.
Next she's off to city hall to pick up some sort of award certification for nectar making.
It's nice to be recognized for your efforts.
They can show it off in their nectary.
She's not done yet.
She needs to stop by the consignment store and put up more bottles of nectar for sale.
I believe I should make more consignment store themes.
I love the quirkiness of Simscura, but Shirley could really use one with a nectar selling ambiance. This place would be a little silly to her.
Story progression gave this guy a fitting uniform.
Cairo is back to making more nectar.
They have so much nectar fruit from the farm that it just might last until the next heir inherits the business.
This business concluded, Shirley has one more stop to make.
The wedding gifts have arrived.
They received a lot of paintings.
Frances!
Yeah, that's useful.
But the jokes on her, those posters sold for over a thousand Simoleons.
They will also sell the stereo and the redundant painting, but they are keeping that guitar.
It's nice.
Shirley stopped by the greenhouse othey own.
It's only at level 2 and she needs to invest $60,000 plus simoleons bring it up to level 3.
That's a lot of money, so I will make it easy on myself and just throw in a couple of really prices decor items.
These fountains will do.
That and a few more items did it-- time to go home.
She deserves a nap.
I'll have her really pamper herself tomorrow.
The household bank account is down to $6000.
Cairo hits the casino.
His gambling is totally unnecessary.
Shirley has already received income from nectar sales.
He's just gambling for the fun of it now.
These are from the batches Cairo made today.
These full racks is the point where they are selling.
The empty ones have been sold and they are currently refilling them. By the time the sell off their entire stock, the nectar they are making now will have aged nicely.
Nooboo.
They had better enjoy the peace and quiet while it lasts.
Lovely pictures, I honestly can't follow all this nagging about having to go through 'jarring' because Sims 4 supposedly looks so superior in a Sims 3 story. Gee, if the art style annoys you that much, download some CC and stop moaning. Anyway, you pics look better to me than any Sims 4 pic I've seen.
I'm so glad you're continuing your Sims 3 story! Your stories were the first ones I read when I started playing, and they shaped my idea of what a good Sims story should be like. I loved the aftermath of the bachelorette party, with Shirley having to go around the house and ask the guests to leave one by one! Cairo and Shirley having synchronised dreams about the baby are so cute!
Baby Makes Three
I had Xara take a potent Invigorating elixir, but now she has too much energy. She wanted to go for a jog, so she's working some of that energy off with some very early morning exercise.
Shirley woke a couple of hours later and began working on her alchemy skill.
I love this attic space for the alchemy room. The ingredients greenhouse up here on the top floor is also awesome and convenient.
Cairo arose a little after that and began cleaning out more dead plants.
This is supposed to be Shirley's day to pamper herself, yet I have her up at the crack of dawn working on her skills.
She'll start relaxing after breakfast.
All we need now is the baby.
There will not be any gender influence. They'll get what they get.
The first born will be the heir of Amore mansion.
Although... it would be interesting to give it to the most capable child, but I think I will keep things simple.
Alright, Shirley, on your way.
She's having a spa day.
I never paid attention to Roaring Heights spa until now.
That would make a nice apartment building.
So, no spa day TS4 style, but her rabbit hole activity will allow me to take care of some much needed business.
Reagan Capp has been out-of-sight, out-of-mind. I've failed to notice that she is still of love interest for Cairo. I also noticed that she aged up to an elder. I brought her over so Cairo could officially break up with her. We can't have her kicking the bucket with Cairo forever a love interest. Cairo got an eternally faithful reputation after the break up.
Now, to send Xara on a quest.
Apparently broomsticks are provided. I didn't give her one.
I think I will get rid of that. She's, a little too much, the magical maid.
Shirley has a wish for watermelon cobbler.
I thought I would have Xara pick fresh watermelon instead of buying it from the grocer.
I wonder if that would have any influence on the baby's gender this late.
No matter, she can eat it after the baby is born.
She was in there for a while with the $1000 spa package.
A cardinal?
I don't think I've seen one of those before. I don't pay much attention to the wild birds spawned around town.
If it's still around, I will have the first born child collect it as a pet.
Mission complete.
But forget about the cobbler, Shirley is ready to deliver the baby.
I missed the water-breaking moment.
No time for photo's, Cairo.
I will always wonder how EA decided the mother would drive to the hospital.
Was it intentional, or was it a bug and they said: no, go with that. That's funny.
So much for world awareness,
I forgot the hospital was right down the street.
I am really happy!
We finally have the first member of the family.
Angie?
Well, there's a coincidence.
She's earned her best friend status today, showing up at the hospital for Shirley.
She won't be walking though those doors however.
It's the thought that counts.
Pause for a moment of simmer confusion as Shirley walks out of the hospital with a picnic basket instead of a baby.
Okay... Moving on, I discover it's a boy, and panic because I haven't even thought up a name for the child yet.
I wanted something sounding like Shirley, so I came up with Sheldon. But... that's sounds so nerdy. Eh, go with it.
Double panic as the reason for that basket comes clear. There is another baby!
It's a girl, and I have to come up with another name. I go with Caira, for Cairo.
Triple panic!!!
Yet another girl! Uhm... uhm... uhm... Cora! Twin girls, Caira and Cora.
I've never had triplets in The Sims 3 before. Now that basket makes sense.
Hey!
No running with the babies!
I know you're excited, but turn it down a notch.
That's better.
A memory, dusty with time, has just been triggered.
Mine, not hers.
It's been a long time since the challenge, but I now remember Shirley and a couple of other girls getting a fertility reward.
I believe I may have clicked on it by accident when trying to give her a different reward.
Either that or she earned it some other way.
I just remembered being miffed because it wasn't what I intended.
Sheldon, the first born and heir is taken to his crib.
Wow, there is so much game play ahead of us: Generations, Seasons, University...
She's going back for the next child.
Caira.
Gee, this is forcing me to think ahead. I have been playing around with assigning traits according to birth order personalities.
The way the game limits access to certain traits at the early stages is messing with my plans, but I push on anyway.
It should be interesting how this plays out with the first born, last born, and middle child.
The middle child should be really entertaining. Although, having triplets messes that up. There is no considerable time gaps between them.
I will go with it anyway, just to test it out.
Cairo feeds them after Shirley brings them up.
Finally, Cora.
Right now, I'm not sure who was the middle child and who was the last born--Caira, or Cora?
Their traits will tell me once I am back in the game.
I made up Caira's name on the fly, but it's actually a girl's name with a meaning:
What does Caira mean? Beloved
Gender: Girl
Origin: Italian
What does Cora mean? Filled heart
Gender: Girl
Origin: Greek
This room required a quick re-plan.
I think it should work out fine.
Instant nuclear family, this caught me by surprised.
I kept the original unimaginative title so you would all be as surprised as I was.
I wanted them to have five children.
I suspect the next birth will be twins, but that certainly won't be started right away.
Wow! Congrats on the twins. So lucky. I've been trying with one couple of mine to no avail. I'm trying to do without the fertility treatment. Anyway, love your story!

I KNOW!!!
This is a bit much.
Shirley doesn't want them getting too comfortable here. They might try to become residents again.
"What a wonderful morning. It should be a beautiful day too, so we should all take advantage of it."
That hint dropped like a lead balloon.
Well, it is raining outside. I guess they wouldn't fall for that.
She'll just take the direct approach and ask them to leave, especially Angie in that revealing beachwear she wore on her date with Cairo.
Good bye..
You're next, tea girl.
Thanks for attending the party, staying over for breakfast, yada yada, so long.
And you, who are you?
Anyway, you're outta here.
Reagan Capp was kicked out long ago. Now she looks like she wants back in.
Frances in the military?
Perhaps she got tired of losing fights. Anyway, she is on her way out the door on her own.
Cairo is highly annoyed, but not at Frances.
I'm not sure what Reagan did, but he is giving her a warning.
This use to be Evelyn's room.
No matter, Arlene shouldn't get to attached to it.
Time to leave.
Don't worry, your life will turn normal eventually.
Gosh, what is she doing that is so annoying?
I can't remember.
I probably should have kept Reagan until the very end.
I was still working on the rules for how this would work.
I suspect there might have been a different winner if she had.
But it is what it is and I don't mind how things have worked out.
I do plan on trying this again. Perhaps a Bachelorette with a bunch of guys to choose from next time.
"Let's get married as soon as possible."
Yeah, I am ready for them to get on with their lives.
We have to clean this place up and set up the wedding venue first.
That's why we have a maid.
Xara, the magical maid.
Put that thing away please and get to work.
And no, you still cannot have a Bugatti Veyron.
Play with your Lamborghini Gallardo instead.
There are still drinks over there.
Shirley might as well get them.
This house is too huge for two people.
I want them to fill it up with children.
This should work out well.
But this darn rainy season, it's depressing.
They still have the weather machine, so rain should not be a problem for the wedding.

The death phone rings.
Nina Van Horn passed away?
Aww, Roaring Heights lost a celebrity.
Well, Shirley does have a mind for business.
That's better.
Aww, cute.

It's so nice to see this story pick up again.
Ultimate cc-list
My top 5
So...,
Toddlers x 3.
Oh... my... God!
