This is a carry over from another thread. I was so excited to finally figure out that I've had the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection yesterday. I downloaded it and installed.
Then I tried to open and it hung twice resulting in me having to restart my computer or kill the process via task manager. Once I finally got it to load, it spent time creating everything it needed to create. When I was able, I went into CAS to start my first family. It was extremely slow. Finally I zoomed into the face and BAM, it crashed. "This program has encountered a program. This program will now terminate." I went back into the game and it happened again.
These are the basic specs on my laptop (while not amazingly good, I expected it to be able to handle this older game):
Windows 8 64-bit (8.1)
6144MB RAM
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~1.8GHz
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 / 1664 MB
I checked via systemrequirementslab and it all checks out, aside from the OS.
I also installed that Graphics Rules Maker after doing some searching on the internet. I thought I checked off the right things. But then after that, the game would not load at all because it said it could not find a DirectX 9 video card. Tried a few more things, but nope.
I've uninstalled and now I'm in the process of downloading/reinstalling. I have searched all through this forum and elsewhere for help on my own.
What do you all think I should do to correct my problems? Please help. ;-;
