DirectX 9.0c Solved!

I can't use the Internet at moment so am on my phone, please excuse any mistakes 
I have had TS2 Ultimate Collection for a while now and have been playing with no problems. In fact I played yesterday and everything was working fine.
Anyhow, go to play the game today and it won't launch and is displaying "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible drivers" message. Obviously it found them yesterday, and the countless other times I have played. What could cause this to happen literally overnight?
The only thing that has changed is that I have attached a new monitor to my laptop as my screen broke. But again I played the Sims 2 with this new screen yesterday, and it worked perfectly.
I am totally confused, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Did you try it again? Or restart your computer?
So happy, thought I had botched something right up, lol.
