Honey & Lifespans

Couple of questions for all the simmers out there...

1. I have two beehives, but I can't figure out how to get my honey/wax to be of higher quality. (In fact, EVERY time I harvest, I get "horrifying" quality.) In contrast, when I harvest at the Elixir Shop, I always get "Nice" or "Normal" quality. I tend to "Smoke Box" then "Harvest Honey" in both places. ("Clean" and "Feed" don't seem to do anything). Any thoughts?

2. My fairies have an ENORMOUSLY long lifespan -- I created them as young adults, and they have about 140 days until they become adults. Is this normal??? Also, when my wife fairy goes on vacation without hubby, he ages while she is away -- is this normal too?

Thanks simmers!
Katherine

Hi Katherine! I don't know about the fairies (I haven't played them yet, my household is currently witches), but for the honey, I have found that taking care of it daily is key to getting higher quality yields. When I first started (I have two hives), I would clean/harvest the box every other day and would get bad to nice quality honey. Then I started having my sims do the following in this order (and not totally sure if this is necessary, it's just what has worked for me): Smoke the box (seems less chance of getting stung), clean the box, feed the bees, then harvest honey. I get great to perfect quality honey that way. On a side note, there's a maid that comes to the house and would clean the box. But for whatever reason, it didn't seem to help. I still had to have my sims clean it.

Hope that helps and works for you. :)

I have a fairy for the first time, her longevity was 2,248 days. I just about passed out when I saw that. I had to change the aging options in the options area of the game. Helped tremendously! Thanks for the tips about better honey too! I am having the same problem with the quality, I will try again!
