Bernice Bobs Her Hair by F. Scott Fitzgerald, most famously the author of The Great Gatsby. I will have to transfer points, if this is correct. :)

Ding, ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Yay, Jemlia!!! :) For anyone who's not read it, I highly recommend. It's very short so doesn't take long.

@Jemlia Who do you want to give your points to?

Oh cool! Thank you. Much like Bernice, I was an awkward teen and also had a terrible looking bob as a teenager. The hairstylist, who was a good friend of my mother's, assured me that it was the perfect hairstyle for me. For the next year, I did all I could to not have my hair resemble a mushroom. Absolutely the worst thing in the world for me when I was thirteen. In some ways though, I was quite the opposite of Bernice in that I was always told I that my preferred topics of conversation were too deep. I liked poetry and philosophy, even then. Anyway, I would like the points to go to @FairTheeWell . Thank you again, that was fun.

I around age 14 purposely got a bob to look like a mushroom by leaving hair at the base of my neck long lol

@Jemlia Do you sometimes wish it possible to travel back in time and assure our 13-year-old selves that a bad haircut or wearing braces (or whatever the trauma may be) is not the end of the world, and give them a glimpse of the wonderful future that lies ahead?! I sure do. Few other things I would warn myself about too. :D Thank you for sharing your story with us. :kissing_heart:

For braces that would be the 18-year old me. As for haircuts, that would be the 40 something me who should know she will change hair stylists and finally find the curly hair specialist who does not give her a round ball of hair.

I understand the struggle, Jodi. Having very curly hair, I don't think I have ever gotten a decent hair cut from a hair stylist And I used to be married to one! LOL I cut my own hair. It's not a fancy style but it basically does what i want it to do. Most hair dressers, I have met, just don't understand how to cut or style my baby fine texture, thick density, very curly hair. I never had braces but I was in a car accident when I was fifteen that shattered about 1/3 of my upper jaw and knocked out four front teeth whole.

@Me1620, you made me lol so hard!

Also that 13 year old is yet so close for me, 18 even closer! I loved being 19 last year and I grieve over the fact that I'm 20 now :D

Oh Jemlia, that would be devastating and painful to anyone but especially at 15 when trying to form an identity. I'm sorry. Hope you have no ill effects.

I can't say I sympathize with the curly hair issues as I have always been jealous of a head full of curls, mine being very fine and straight. Though you really made me laugh, Jodi. :D

I was planning to crank out some catwalk pics this afternoon but all this talk of P&P made me want to watch it. Woo boy, I'd forgotten how he smolders! Mr. Darcy, that is. I do need to go back and redo him as my Mr. Darcy does not even come close. After almost 5 hours of P&P, I am now speaking in a British accent in my head. :D

We haven't seen Judy Jetson in awhile. Here she is wearing the Faux Fur dress from @mothersuperior2. FAUX fur, cause we would never ever wear the real stuff.

Thanks for the dress, Mosup <3

@Jemlia - We have more in common than curly hair. I was ten when I was in a car accident, but I only lost one front tooth, root and all. Those were the days long before seat belts were mandatory. My dentist stuck the tooth back in. It held for 22 years, but my then infant son head butted me a few times and the tooth could not hold on. I now have an implant.

I have never seen any version of Pride & Prejudice but Bride & Prejudice. I love that movie, especially the dancing.

So much good stuff to read in this thread ...

ZG you're welcome for the dress, I use that one a lot on snowy days in Simland. Ref P&P, I speak in a British accent in my head all the time! ;)

Sj, sorry about the hamster. Glad the cat is improving though. :)

@Me1620 haven't seen you for a while, haven't you got newish twins in your family? :#

@Jemlia congrats on the win, and ouch for the accident. :o

Rion, I had what could be described as a 'pudding basin haircut'. It was supposed to be a bob, but my hair (straight and fine) looked like it was painted on if I got caught in the rain. Happy days!!! B)
I have a weird sense of humour. If it doesn't come across, please forgive me in advance.

I used to do some crazy 🐸🐸🐸🐸 with my hair but now a friend of ours is our hairdresser and she gets mad whenever I want to try something crazy haha! She's in love with my hair, I'm not... I was that day on my man's sister her wedding when she had done my hair!

Anyway I'm glad I'm not the only one grieving over 20s @rionismyname! It's exactly as you said!

Awww, thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. Unfortunately, they could not re-implant the teeth as there was no bone left in which to implant them. So I've dealt with various types of bridges, plates, and continued bone loss since then. It's something to which I've grown accustomed. It was awful when I was 15 but not so much now. However, I still feel a little embarrassed when people ask (and they still do) if I have braces because there are metal hooks around some of my teeth. lol. Some people are nosy and odd in that way, I guess. Some people, acquaintances, still ask to touch my hair. Then usually comment on how soft it is, as if they were expecting steel wool. LOL Today, I do my best to laugh off the inquisitive and the rude. I wish I could go back and tell my teen self that everything was going to be alright and how to laugh off the detractors.

I didn't miss my teen years at all (See Above.) My twenties were quite a bit better even though they came with a heavy dose of adult responsibility (married with a bunch of children.) @SjappielovePaul I hope you do find your stride in this decade of life, after all you have just begun.

    Cheers!

Oh it will probably be okay @Jemlia! But those responsibilities is what kills it for me, in my teens I've been to New York, Praha, London, the Azores, Spain, now I have other expenses :') but honestly, my teens weren't only great offcourse. So I'll get used to my twenties soon enough ;)

After hours of phone time with tech support, too many 'system recoveries' to even count, a trip back to Dell (the puter) and visits from a tech with new parts, Dell finally replaced my messed-up-from-the-beginning Alienware gaming laptop. Yay! Although they replaced it with one that doesn't have a DVD drive! Booo. But with the help of the mighty Crinrict's blog, NRaas, and lots of googling, I think I've got my game back. If it wasn't for that stinking new patch it wouldn't have been so stinking hard to get everything going again! Soooo, to catch up:

@Me1620 Jodi, I wish we could post real pics. I'd love to see those little boogers. And just a little something to inspire you to see the old version of P&P:

@Jemlia Seems like people just don't have manners anymore. :( Sounds like you had a lot to endure and people with no manners made it worse.

@mothersuperior2 Hi! See above pic. :naughty:

ZG, thanks for the photo! Nuff said ... o:)

Glad the 'puter is back. If it doesn't have a disc drive, does that mean you can't use your new/old base game? :o

@Jemlia I have to admit I'd probably be one of those people asking about braces etc. My mother always told me I was tactless. I prefer to think 'nosey' is the same as 'genuinely interested'!

    @Me1620 I hope you're enjoying the twins. B)

@SjappielovePaul make the most of your twenties, you young thing you! All too soon, you will be 50 and wondering where the years went!!! >:)

@rionismyname and @gnlovew in case you're lurking, just wishing everyone a Happy December!

@mothersuperior2, I've been trying to lurk, but it's been mostly (? ) on the My Page. I don't know what's been wrong with me. This is my favorite time of the year, I'm getting B12 shots, but I'm just exhausted. I haven't even simmed long enough to do anything but mess up my game.:cry::confounded: I don't even have my tree decorated! Usually that's done the day after Thanksgiving! I hope you're well, and that everyone in your family is okay.

MERCY! @ZeeGee, that version of P&P is amazing!! I confess, I may have watched that particular scene more than hundreds a few times. Oh. My.:sweat::heart: I love your Judy Jetson! She looks fab in her faux fur!

@Jemlia, I'm sorry about your teeth! I had braces multiple times, starting when I was 8, but my teeth are still out of whack. I'd love to have braces. When I see an adult in them, I just think, "Good for you!", so smile on!

@Me1620, CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting!!! Twins are amazing.@mothersuperior2 has a new set of twins in her family as well. You two can compare notes. So happy for you!!

Love, hugs, and prayers you all. Still here, just floating in the background.
