I started a family in Sims2. It took me ages to get the gender I wanted. Remembered ye olde trick of saving when the mother goes into labor and if the birthed baby isn't the preferred gender, you can exit without saving and reenter the game. I had to do this at least three times, before I got the boy needed. Then I went back to Sims4 and didn't play my Sims2 for quite some time. Yesterday, I got the itch to play TS2, so that I could enjoy the interactions this iteration afforded. However, when I went into this game, baby was already a toddler.
Say, what? Needless to say, I'm vexed, frustrated and seriously considering starting this family all over again. I'm teetering on the edge, because while I do enjoy Sims4 to some extent, I abhor the less than limited interactions with the baby (IE baby is tethered to the bassinet!) Not only that, but I know I had 'aging off', but toddler now only has three days left.
Has anyone else had these kinds of problems with TS2;UC? Or am I just the 'lucky' one?

I've never seen it happen before! O.o
That's the strangest thing.

Edited to Add: I don't play window mode.

Then someone may have played your game. TS2 sims don't automatically age up I don't think any sims game allows for this in fact.

Also I've left the game running in the background before. I came back an hour later and they'd started a fire, peed everywhere, and died. Needless to say I didn't save, lol.
Anyway, I'm really sorry that this happened. It must be pretty frustrating for you.

Maybe you could take a break and turn it on when you're ready to come back to it. I find they keep me from getting bored/frustrated or completely burning out. (I don't play for MONTHS when that happens) I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the game(s) right now.

And not to go too far off-topic - but it's possible for someone to hack into your Origin account and play your games? This is a thing? Wth? Like they access your server save and if they have their own Sims 2 UC, they can boot up your files?
I play Sims 2 off disks, so I don't go through Origin and am not sure the mechanics of it all. I thought it was just another annoying Launcher.

My sister did the same thing with a (really expensive at the time) dvd player tray and cheetos when we were younger, young kids love the open/close mechanism on just about everything .
Anyway, I'm sorry that happened, but I couldn't even start to figure out why. Is it possible that you've got a corrupted neighborhood? I haven't had one in a very long time, but I do remember some really weird stuff going on the last time.
Kids will do the darnedest things, won't they? Like growing from baby to toddler when you're not even playing the game. I'm guessing you may be correct about the corrupted neighborhood. It may be more worth my while to delete them and start over. Again, thank you for your thoughts on the matter.

I don't get it. You say you're bummed because your TS2 game glitched (or someone played it) causing your sim to skip a life stage, so you switched back to TS4 and now are having fun--when TS4 intentionally skips a life stage? How is that fun?
Also, I thought about your comment about no one in your home doing this, but if someone is using your account--it is not some random person on the internet. Your neighbourhood files in TS2 are stored locally--not on origin. You can have multiple versions of the same hood on your computer but the only one that can be played is the one in your Neighbourhood directory. So if someone played your game (as you have already said that you didn't leave your game open) it would mean they did it on your computer because they would need to have the ability to read and write (i.e., save the toddler state) to that specific directory.
I'm sorry you're having trouble with your game, but TS2 has been around for over a decade and pretty much all of the serious bugs have already been discovered and fixed by patches or mods. The critical bugs without fixes are due to file corruption which is caused by deleting character files improperly or having your game implode after a couple thousand sims are generated.
What you are describing would be a critical bug and I have never experienced or even heard of this bug before. If you are playing UC, then it might be something that came with that update? Can you find out if anyone else is using UC and having these problems.
If you don't care to find out what happened (and don't mind that without finding a resolution this might happen again) Then just roll your toddler back to a baby and then roll it up to a toddler using InSim, InTeen, or editing SimPE directly. After that play the baby stage until your heart is content and then age him/her up to toddler. Afterwards your sim should age naturally.
There was always a quick fix for your game, but I thought you were more concerned with finding out what happened in your game. Don't settle for TS4.
Regardless of what you do, please make sure to make a back up first (just copy the directory on your desktop or the like). That way if you make a mistake it won't be a big deal.
As for my having fun with TS4, that's perfectly okay. I'm sorry you loathe it. I took a chance, with the caveat that if the base game didn't wow me enough, I wouldn't spend another dime on TS4. However, for all of its shortcomings, it does have lively Sims — something TS3 Sims lacked. I don't intend to stop playing TS4. I just bob between iterations now and again. I chose TS2, since I had created the family I'm playing in TS4, but wanted to enjoy the baby stage. This is where the problem came up. I saved and exited the game just after baby was born. Didn't play for a time. Have no clue what happened in between. It's more than weird, it's creepy. I'm at my computer nearly all day, every day, so that's why I don't think a family member had access.
Even though I do have a love/hate relationship with TS3, I will go back and play it now and again. There are some aspects it has the others (2 & 4) don't have. That's okay, too.
Were I to die a happy woman, EA would create another iteration, encompassing and possessing all that's good of 2,3 & 4. Because, yes, there are some great things about 4, too. The CAS is far better than 2 & 3.
But I do thank you for your support. I will eventually play TS2 again, just not right now. I'm still too miffed. LOL

OK. So long as you weren't settling on TS4 because of the glitch you had in TS2, then there's nothing wrong with liking TS4. Play what makes you happy I hope that they do create another iteration for PCs combining all of the best elements of all of the games (including TS1) and spend the full development cycle working on it.
