Baby Is A Toddler And I Haven't Played the Game?

I started a family in Sims2. It took me ages to get the gender I wanted. Remembered ye olde trick of saving when the mother goes into labor and if the birthed baby isn't the preferred gender, you can exit without saving and reenter the game. I had to do this at least three times, before I got the boy needed. Then I went back to Sims4 and didn't play my Sims2 for quite some time. Yesterday, I got the itch to play TS2, so that I could enjoy the interactions this iteration afforded. However, when I went into this game, baby was already a toddler. :open_mouth: Say, what? Needless to say, I'm vexed, frustrated and seriously considering starting this family all over again. I'm teetering on the edge, because while I do enjoy Sims4 to some extent, I abhor the less than limited interactions with the baby (IE baby is tethered to the bassinet!) Not only that, but I know I had 'aging off', but toddler now only has three days left.

Has anyone else had these kinds of problems with TS2;UC? Or am I just the 'lucky' one?

    Hi :)

I've never seen it happen before! O.o
    That's the strangest thing.

Yeah, it has me wondering if someone has managed to hack into my account and randomly picked one of my households to play … Either that, or I have some kind of gremlin in my computer. :open_mouth: Hey, I know, perhaps my Sims4 Sims wanted to play Sims2 for a bit and … yeah, it's late in the day and my poor brain is fried, right along with my eyes that no longer wish to function. This grandma is going to go start some dinner now … yeah. Thanks for your response.

That's weird. Do you have the setting where the game plays in the background turned on? That would be the only way I could see this happing. Leaving your window open for an hour unnoticed could have caused a baby to grow up.

No, I haven't even powered up that game. It's not a case of it running in the background. It's not even running, period! I'm very disappointed.

Edited to Add: I don't play window mode.

Then someone may have played your game. TS2 sims don't automatically age up  I don't think any sims game allows for this in fact.

I did have a few occasions were my Origin box popped up out of nowhere and suggested my signing in was going to shut down the other game, or something on that order. All the while I'm thinking so who's using my Origin account? I seriously doubt anyone in my RL household would do such a thing.

I'm so frustrated right now, I could spit. I have no clue which iteration I should try to play. This is turning into a nightmare for me. I'm rarely bored, but today I'm very bored. I don't trust TS2,3, or 4 at the moment.

That's very strange. I can't say I've had that issue, but I did have a problem where my toddlers wouldn't age up. I had to do it manually and it was really annoying. I've had Origin tell me a few times my account was in use, but I change my password often and you need a security code to get in. I'm convinced it's a glitch, but who really knows.

Also I've left the game running in the background before. I came back an hour later and they'd started a fire, peed everywhere, and died. Needless to say I didn't save, lol.

Anyway, I'm really sorry that this happened. It must be pretty frustrating for you. :(

Thank you both for your responses. I'm still torn. I want to play the game, but I can't make up my mind which one. No matter what I do, (with the game) these days I'm mostly dissatisfied. :( Again, thanks for your responses.

Maybe you could take a break and turn it on when you're ready to come back to it. I find they keep me from getting bored/frustrated or completely burning out. (I don't play for MONTHS when that happens) I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the game(s) right now.

I've played Sims 2 forever and have never seen anything like that happen :o

And not to go too far off-topic - but it's possible for someone to hack into your Origin account and play your games? This is a thing? Wth? Like they access your server save and if they have their own Sims 2 UC, they can boot up your files?

I play Sims 2 off disks, so I don't go through Origin and am not sure the mechanics of it all. I thought it was just another annoying Launcher.

Thank you for weighing in on the subject. I used to play Sims2 off of disks, originally. However, I made the mistake of allowing my daughter-in-law to install it on her laptop and my little grandson (an infant at the time) had discovered the joys of making the disk drive open up. He got his chubby little baby hands on the base disk … Needless to say, I was very happy when EA offered, for free, the TS2:Ultimate Collection. So, I can only play online, since I'm missing the base disk. Face/palm. If I could, I would play totally offline.

My sister did the same thing with a (really expensive at the time) dvd player tray and cheetos when we were younger, young kids love the open/close mechanism on just about everything :).

Anyway, I'm sorry that happened, but I couldn't even start to figure out why. Is it possible that you've got a corrupted neighborhood? I haven't had one in a very long time, but I do remember some really weird stuff going on the last time.

Cheetos in the DVD player! I recall the really old commercial showing a small child putting a sandwich into the VCR drawer. :open_mouth:

Kids will do the darnedest things, won't they? Like growing from baby to toddler when you're not even playing the game. I'm guessing you may be correct about the corrupted neighborhood. It may be more worth my while to delete them and start over. Again, thank you for your thoughts on the matter. :)

Thank you for your responses. I ended up playing Sims4 yesterday, and had a pretty good time. :)

I don't get it. You say you're bummed because your TS2 game glitched (or someone played it) causing your sim to skip a life stage, so you switched back to TS4 and now are having fun--when TS4 intentionally skips a life stage? How is that fun?

Also, I thought about your comment about no one in your home doing this, but if someone is using your account--it is not some random person on the internet. Your neighbourhood files in TS2 are stored locally--not on origin. You can have multiple versions of the same hood on your computer but the only one that can be played is the one in your Neighbourhood directory. So if someone played your game (as you have already said that you didn't leave your game open) it would mean they did it on your computer because they would need to have the ability to read and write (i.e., save the toddler state) to that specific directory.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your game, but TS2 has been around for over a decade and pretty much all of the serious bugs have already been discovered and fixed by patches or mods. The critical bugs without fixes are due to file corruption which is caused by deleting character files improperly or having your game implode after a couple thousand sims are generated.

What you are describing would be a critical bug and I have never experienced or even heard of this bug before. If you are playing UC, then it might be something that came with that update? Can you find out if anyone else is using UC and having these problems.

If you don't care to find out what happened (and don't mind that without finding a resolution this might happen again) Then just roll your toddler back to a baby and then roll it up to a toddler using InSim, InTeen, or editing SimPE directly. After that play the baby stage until your heart is content and then age him/her up to toddler. Afterwards your sim should age naturally.

There was always a quick fix for your game, but I thought you were more concerned with finding out what happened in your game. Don't settle for TS4. :weary:

BTW: if you aren't comfortable editing files in SimPE or aren't sure how to use mods to do this, I'd be happy to help you out  TS2 doesn't have official support, so we have to make sure that we support each other!

Regardless of what you do, please make sure to make a back up first (just copy the directory on your desktop or the like). That way if you make a mistake it won't be a big deal.

@nanashi-sims, thank you for your helpful response. I played TS2 first in 2005. Got my own copy of it in August 2005 and played it all the way to the end. Yes, I was addicted. I love TS2 and always have. I made the error of believing some of the hype around TS3, only to be largely disappointed overall. But, I kept with it hoping what was 'missing' would eventually be returned. Sadly, it was not. I never played with mods in TS2, although I read about those others were using SimPE being one of them. I have no clue about it. I uninstalled TS2, after a fatal glitch destroyed my favorite family. I immediately, in a rage I'll admit, uninstalled everything TS2. All I have now, is through Origin, thankfully, since my base game disk got destroyed. I'll check out my files in my documents, just to see if they are actually on my machine, and try to sort out the one that was my Sim family.

As for my having fun with TS4, that's perfectly okay. I'm sorry you loathe it. I took a chance, with the caveat that if the base game didn't wow me enough, I wouldn't spend another dime on TS4. However, for all of its shortcomings, it does have lively Sims — something TS3 Sims lacked. I don't intend to stop playing TS4. I just bob between iterations now and again. I chose TS2, since I had created the family I'm playing in TS4, but wanted to enjoy the baby stage. This is where the problem came up. I saved and exited the game just after baby was born. Didn't play for a time. Have no clue what happened in between. It's more than weird, it's creepy. I'm at my computer nearly all day, every day, so that's why I don't think a family member had access.

Even though I do have a love/hate relationship with TS3, I will go back and play it now and again. There are some aspects it has the others (2 & 4) don't have. That's okay, too.

Were I to die a happy woman, EA would create another iteration, encompassing and possessing all that's good of 2,3 & 4. Because, yes, there are some great things about 4, too. The CAS is far better than 2 & 3.

But I do thank you for your support. I will eventually play TS2 again, just not right now. I'm still too miffed. LOL

OK. So long as you weren't settling on TS4 because of the glitch you had in TS2, then there's nothing wrong with liking TS4. Play what makes you happy :relaxed: I hope that they do create another iteration for PCs combining all of the best elements of all of the games (including TS1) and spend the full development cycle working on it.

Sounds like the game glitched and set story progression for you. Not sure if EA help center can help still, but at least you could try. Babies in the Sims 4 annoy me too. I had to CC and mod the snot out of those object babies. It made my Sims 3 baby modding seem like nothing. XD Sadly the hanging crib is no longer around. I do hope you are able to get your Sims 2 game working again. There is actually a mod called insimenator that I used to age down Sims sometimes. It is no longer supported, but it is a very good mod to have around.

Nope regardless of your Origin account, your saves are kept to your computer. If I play on laptop I have different saves than on my 7 desktop, and even my old XP desktop.
