Bring Back Burglars - Here's How

I currently feel as if the world of TS4 is a little too safe. Don't get me wrong, I love that TS4 is a bright and cheery escape from everyday life, but sometimes we need a bit of unexpected chaos thrown in to keep things from getting boring and samey.

I think adding burglars back into the game would be a great way to do this.

I feel that the burglar Sims themselves should be Sims who are currently employed in the Criminal career track, ideally the "Petty Thief" level. I think it would be neat to see our own Sims that are employed in the Criminal track actually out robbing from homes, even if we cannot actively control it ourselves. If we have no played Sims employed as petty thieves then the game should of course draw an unemployed, homeless Sim into the role.

As for the police element of catching the thieves, well, I think a generic "Officer" role should be used for the situation that uses the same police outfit from GTW to reduce the need for new assets. As a GTW owner myself, I would not mind none GTW owners from having the police outfit in their games if it meant we could have burglars added back in this way.
If players have GTW installed then the game should, again, use Sims actually employed in the relevant career. Otherwise it should pull an unplayed, homeless Sim into the role.

The inclusion of house alarms would also be a must, for obvious reasons.

What are other peoples' thoughts on this subject?

I also think Sims 4 is a little bit too safe for my taste, I want more risk and chaos!
Burglars robbing your house at night was a part of The Sims series. Burglars even appeared at the window in Create a Sim in The Sims and The Sims Bustin' Out for console.
And for the players that want to play safe without burglars there maybe could be an option to disable burglars in Game Options menu.

I would love if they would implent burglars in a patch.

I would not mind this unless they included an option to turn burglars fully off because i am happy with the fact that there is no buglars in the sims4

It would be nice to experience being robbed in a game, I never really thought I'd want to be robbed, even virtually.

You don't want to get robbed in real life but you want to get robbed in game xD And yes, I'd love to get my sims robbed, please. And my detective sims will track down the burglars and put them in jail ;)

I always put my burglar alarm on the outside on my sims houses. That way the burglars will be caught as soon as they step foot on my sims property.

That is a very good idea. I never would have thought of that.

And yes I agree...TS4 is just way too happy.

I think Sims who have their house be broken into should be able to do something about burglars.
Like tackle and tussle with them, repossess most, if not all, their stuff.

There was one something in TS3 that allowed some Sims to fight with the burglars. Not sure now if it was brave or police career or what.

I miss burglars and a lot of other NPCs too. I figure with bad comes good and sadly the Sims 4 doesn't really have anything bad or dangerous in it.

I heard rumours about burglars being potentially offensive to some of their sensitive player base and so aren’t being added.

They should add burglars but add a lot trait like “neighbourhood watch” where it removes any chance of being robbed, to keep some players happy.

In fact I’d like it if all the NPC’s came with inheritable hidden traits like they did in Sims 3. For example children of firefighters would be fireproof, children of maids would never make a mess and more.

I really wish I could assign sims to npc roles though

like with police id want to pick them from world view myself like "these are the cops for this world" "these are the burglars for this world" "these are the mailman for this world" etc.

(with like few slots so it isn't always same dude or gal and other ones would show up if that dude got something going on)

ofc it could come with randomize button but like I'm sick of game generating random townies for everything

    especially with something like this

(also would like actual vets and shop employees to show up when i go there with other sims p_p)

and maybe lot traits such as high crime low crime that were mentioned somewhere would help like if you want no robbing you put low crime trait and if u want lots of robbings high crime trait and if u dun care and wanna get robbed sometimes but not that often neither lot trait

also yes we should be allowed to catch the burglar ourselves if police are taking ages

maybe even add some interaction for high ranking criminal career sims that be like "oh these amateurs need some scolding"

also with c&d id like to send my dogs chase them out

maybe the police would only show up if there is alarm in the house or our sims call them?

The Lot Trait to prevent burglaries could be called "Neighbourhood Watch". I don't know if that term is a UK specific thing or not but moreso when I was a kid, houses would put these little Neighbourhood Watch stickers in their windows or on their doors to let potential thieves know that the neighbours watched out for each other and would report suspicious activity.

Supposedly, the reason given was that that including burglars in the game was a cultural faux-pas in China, thus they couldn't include it. A "T" rating game that seems like it's made for five-year-olds in how it seems to avoid everything that could possibly be controversial, or "bad or dangerous" as it was said before.

All the suggestions mentioned here sound great! Now, if only the development team is paying attention... I don't think it would be too difficult to add into the Get to Work EP; mainly because police and their career outfits (as well as prison jumpsuits for criminals) already exist in this EP. When you're on the beat (or "On Patrol" as the game says), catching robbers in the act (among other crimes) would be one thing to break the monotony of that career in-game. The same goes for firefighters. I'd like to see that as a career as well. As an active career as is already in TS3:Ambitions, I think that's just wishful thinking.

Untrue, and debunked years ago. They aren't in the game because they aren't.
