I would never smudge the skin, I have done some Skin Shading before, but it didn't come out as I would have hoped <.<

Ehhhhhh smudging is an "iffy" decision. It can be good if you're correcting seams or blending them better, but it can also be good if the skin has a lot of issues that blurring doesn't correct. It's not really something to use a lot for skin, but it has it's uses. We'll go over this in the comp of course.
You're already good, you just need some guidance! I'm sure with my tips you'll be even better than me.
