"I look good today." Darling smiles. She feels like striking a pose in the bathroom because she has a special someone.
This is their victorian house. They just moved to their neighborhood, called Newcrest. There is a park right by their house, so Darling is thinking about going there.
"Darling, have you been dating any boys at school?"
"No dad. But I really like somebody."
"Listen, if you let them touch you, you're going to get in trouble."
"I know, I know."
"Boys are germy okay?"
"No they are not! You're just saying that because you want me to be boring like you!"
"Don't raise your voice at me young lady."
"Sure."
"SEE, YOU'LL NEVER LEARN ANYTHING! YOU'RE SUCH A STUPID AND NAIVE LITTLE KID!"
"Dad, stop treating me like one! I am 17 years old. I can handle myself. I'm going to graduate next year. Then I can go away to college and not have to deal with this."
"I see."
"If you just had a change of heart, If you knew who he was!"
"HE JUST THINKS HE CAN TAKE CONTROL OF ANYTHING AND ANYONE!"
"I just can't believe he did this to me.
"What's up, kiddo?"
"Well I really like someone. His name is Dylan. He's cute, and he's really nice. And I uh, told dad about him. Don't be mad."
"I'm not, but you know how he feels about these things. Just try to cool down, okay?"
