I love the world that comes with Showtime, the interactive objects (mechanical bull, DJ booth, karaoke...), the CAS stuff (they're to die for, IMO). The careers are okay, I've only done the singer so I can only comment on that one. It's a lot of fun designing your own stage with props and backgrounds, and have a matching outfit to go along with it. The build/buy mode stuff is also awesome. It's one of my favorite EPs (even though it has a bad reputation).
The only reason why I even bought Supernatural was for the gothic themed stuff. Some hairstyles are nice, the clothes are pretty ugly and outdated (again, IMO), the town isn't even that spooky. Twinbrook's bayou is way creepier (and it has creepier townies!). The werewolves and zombies are a joke, don't care for the fairies nor the witches, and the vampires are a bit too twilighty. They're not Dracula clones like TS2 Downtown vamps.
Although I'm slightly biased, because I love the glitzy celebrity lifestyle and dislike anything related to supernatural stuff.

I like supernatural way better. Showtime really didn't do much for me. It was okay I guess, but I never got to installing it on this laptop, it's been nearly 3 years, and I honestly don't care. I enjoyed it for a bit but the excitement didn't last too long. It did have some nice clothes in it that I occasionally miss but that's about all I miss.
I still love supernatural though. I love the supernatural creatures, and some of the build/buy content it came with is really nice. I also like moonlight falls a lot.
I prefer Supernatural, basically because in my honest opinion it adds a lot more to the game than Showtime does. They are both worthy additions though, and it really comes down to your personal preferences. If you love occult sims, definitely go with Supernatural. If you like glitzy glam and super stardom, go with Showtime.
I don't play with supernaturals, and I still love Supernatural. I love the town, and the houses in it, though I change all of the pre-made supernaturals to humans before I start playing, and edit the faces of some of them. I love the new garden plants, new recipes, and planters. My sims who cook always learn the recipes for mushroom omelets, porcini risotto, and potato and truffle torte. The clothing didn't impress me much at first glance, and I didn't think I'd actually use much of it, but I found out that some of the items, recolored, aren't bad at all. My sim got married in somewhat cold weather, and needed a long-sleeved wedding dress, and a top and skirt from Supernatural, changed to white, were perfect.
I have had Showtime for about a year and a half, but I have never yet played a game in Starlight Shores. I tend to remove some of the ST venues that get automatically placed in my towns, but I always keep the karaoke, and most of my sims play dominoes, and eventually have dominoes tables at home. Since I do place at least one ST venue in my towns, the newspaper always has simfests and performances listed in the events, but almost every time I've ever sent my sim to one of them, there were just a bunch of people cheering and watching an empty stage. I do plan on playing someone in the singer career, living in Starlight Shores, though, before much longer. The thing is, I only started playing this game in July of 2012, and didn't really start adding in EP's until much later, when I got a computer that could actually handle the game. So, part of the reason I've neglected ST is because the worlds and content in other EP's have been taking more of my attention. Another reason is that I tend to put off trying out careers that are so hands-on, but not just skill based. I've only recently, finally, played some of the professions from Ambitions, and I got it long before I got Showtime.
I'm definitely a Supernatural fan all the way! Can't live without elixirs, especially Potent Invigorating Elixir. With it your sim can stay up all the time, if they drink another when they finally get tired after the 24hr energy infusion starts to wear off. On top of that, if your sim is a witch, they have charms they can cast at a little over mid-level magic skill that allow them to replenish hunger, hygiene and bladder for themselves or any other sim, great for World Adventures exploration.
Showtime frustrated me, though I built sims almost all the way to the top of the singer career two separate times, both times their games froze when they reached about 9.5 of their career and would no longer load, so I could never complete that career. Haven't played the Showtime careers since.
On Amazon.com Showtime is the cheaper EP ($14.15) and has only 3&1/2 stars out of 5 with 120 reviews, 54 giving it 5 stars; while Supernatural ($19.10) has earned 4&1/2 stars out of 5 with 368 reviews, 254 of them giving it 5 stars. Seems the simmers on Amazon.com have judged Supernatural the better EP.
I can't tell you which one to pick up because it depends on your play style. Every pack has something that I like.. even the Stuff Packs. I could never just choose one.
Well, with Showtime I like the genies. The careers are fun to go through once or twice before they get tedious. There's lots of nice objects and the world is okay. I'm glad I bought it on sale. Supernatural wins hands down for me out of those two. I love the occults, the feel of Moonlight falls, the items and interactions it adds. I bought it at full price when it came out.
Supernatural is probably the best EP imo. Even if you never play one of the Occults, it's still worth it for Moonlight Fall, the furniture, the clothes, the gem cutter ... I use stuff from this EP in every game and world.
It also came with my favourite sim ever, Dante Morganthe, so that elevates it above all others right there.
Showtime doesn't get a lot of love, which is maybe unfair. I hardly ever play those careers now, but they're there and fun to try again now and then. I really like the content it came with, Bucking Bronco and Karaoke machine in particular. All my worlds have a bar with those. The genie lamp is great if you quickly need money.
Starlight Shores could have been better, the world is a bit small.
Supernatural is much better than showtime. Also not sure if the genie work in showtime if you don't have supernatural. I have both but I don't play showtime. I also think you need Late Night to have celebrities unless ea patched celebrities in to where you don't need late night to use showtime?

Maybe I'm the odd one.
