  It would be nice to have some additional options for notifications, but for now you can make some adjustments to notifications in your user preferences. For example, turning off notifications for bookmarks can cut down on a lot of notifications.

  I agree!!!!!!!!! We seriously need this, or some sort of "unfollow" option.
  
  I have commented before on threads I'm just not as interested in now, but those notifications still keep coming. Specifically, petition threads. They aren't bookmarked, but since I signed them, I'm doomed to forever be involved in them, it seems.
  
  Unless there's a fix, or a way I don't know about, to do it? Have I missed something?

  @Egwarhammer, there is an option to turn off notifications in threads you've replied in. You can uncheck "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in." It will stop this for all threads you've commented in though. You can't pick and choose which of the threads you've commented in you want to stop notification for.

  All or nothing, huh? Well, nothing would drive me starkers, so I guess it's all, for me. (We are dealing with EA... options seem to be optional -for us- from their POV, huh?)

  That's really what we need is a way to stop some threads so they don't blow up our notifications

  You can choose what threads that you get notifications about by pressing the star on the top right hand side of the thread. If the star is yellow, press it so that it the star is clear and not yellow, and you won't get notifications when someone posts on that thread. If you do want to get notifications for a thread, click the star so that it turns yellow.

  I agree especially in popular threads that can gain 20+ pages in like an hour. You come back to an overwhelming amount of notifications lol.
  
  @rosemow, that doesn't always work- I still get notifications even when the star is clear.

  Here's what I do... one day recently I had 88 waiting! And another, 44.
  
  When there's more than 5, more than I can see in the little dropdown window up top, I mean... I click the left Notifications link, scroll to the bottom of that page, and as I scroll back up toward the top (to get the date order right), when I see a topic I want to read more about, I right click open it into a new tab. Sometimes I'll have 10 tabs open... but it makes the notification flood a LOT easier to deal with, IMO.
