    ENTRY DETAILS:
The D.C.III Central Library is an educational gift to the Willow Creek community Douglas Curtis III will surely be proud to put his name too. The library features a general lending area and a separate reference area with several specialist areas on two levels. An outdoor space for reading and chess study is also included. In the basement find a friends of the forest themed children's area, a computer suite and classroom.

The design of the library takes influences from classical and European architecture with a few modern touches. The building is intended to stand out inside and out as a grand space that will inspire serious and dedicated learning from all citizens of Willow Creek regardless of their interests, abilities or age. One day they might even credit the D.C.III Central Library in motivating them to achieve their endeavors in life.

Douglas Curtis III may be pleased to learn that I was indeed able to secure the founders statue that had been locked away in a secret room only recently discovered in the the Municipal Muses Museum basement - an ancestor of his. As discussed over email he was keen for this inclusion although we knew we would have to act quickly as the Landgraabs had also shown some interest. Thankfully It would seem us 'build n share' designers have friends in high places - no doubt from our design expertise and professionalism - helping us to snap up the statue before the Landgraabs knew what had hit them.

Challenge #18 - Best Laid Plans Part II

Feeling proud of your previous project, knowing that Mr Curtis couldn't have been happier, you leaf through your diary looking at the projects and meetings you have coming up, a full plate. Unlike the plate by your side, which you are dabbing up the last of the crumbs that have fallen off the gorgeous piece of carrot cake that Rose baked and brought in this morning.

Rose buzzes through as you are licking your lips.

    “Yes Rose?” You mumble.

You hear Rose chuckling as she says “Mrs Johnson is on line one for you.”

As you finish your mouthful you wonder why she could be calling, you hope that there is nothing amiss with their new home.

A little more professionally you ask Rose to please put her through.

“Mrs Johnson, what can I do for you?”

“Thank goodness you are still working, I was worried that I might have missed you for the night.”

“No chance of that.” You reply. “I have plenty to keep me going past clocking off time.”

    “Oh.” She sounds deflated.

    “I was hoping...”

You catch the thread of desperation in her voice.

Deciding to take the plunge and talk to her as the friend that she was fast becoming. “What's up Kaye?”

“Well, when I came to you regarding phase one of the project, I think I mentioned that Kieran's mother was unwell?”

“You did. Oh, has she taken a turn for the worse?”

“Not as such, it's just that she fell and broke her hip, she has been in hospital and has had it replaced, but Kathleen and Kelvin were living on the 4th floor of a retirement complex, and the lifts don't always work. They are very proud people, I could afford to pay for them to have a little chalet in a lovely residential village, but they won't accept anything from me.”

“I see.” You say, sensing the direction that this conversation was heading.

“Kieran floated the idea of them coming to live with us and it didn't bomb like we thought it would. In fact Kathleen looked positively overjoyed at the thought of being so close to us, now we have Kaiden.”

“And you need me to come and have a look at how we could fit a self-contained annex somewhere close by.” You say, with a smile on your face.

“Yes, that's precisely what we are after. Do you think you could squeeze us in?”

“Let me just check my diary.” You pop her on hold while you buzz through to Rose. “Rose, is there any way that I can...”

Rose interrupts. “I've already called your next scheduled clients and informed them that due to unforeseen circumstances, you are going to have to postpone them by a couple of weeks. They were fine.”

    “But... how...”

“It's my job to know.” She says as she hangs up on you. You make a mental note to increase her bonus and wonder, not for the first time, what you would do without her.

You connect back to Kaye's call and hear her cooing to Kaiden, such a lovely sound.

“Kaye, yes, Rose informs me that I do indeed have a gap in my schedule and it would be a privilege to build Kieran's parents new home.”

“Thank you!!” You hear the relief in her voice.

    The Brief:

You need to provide a wheelchair friendly home, so this needs to be another fully functioning residence, with 2 bedrooms (one of which must have an attached bathroom), a separate bathroom, kitchen, dining space and living area.
You can choose any lot in Willow Creek to build on.
Kathleen and Kelvin are elderly, so the décor should match accordingly.
Your total cost for this portion of the challenge is $154,000, including the lot cost.

    Room Challenge:
The Living Room: We want to see where Kathleen and Kelvin will be spending most of their time, so build a great room/living room. Your budget for this part of the build will be $35,000

    Sim Challenge:
Create Kathleen and Kelvin, Kelvin;s Aspiration is to become an Angling Ace and he can be quite grumpy. Kathleen's Aspiration is to become a Friend of the World and is cheerful. The rest, as they say, is up to you.

Your deadline for this challenge is Wednesday 13th May, Midnight CMT

    Use #Buildnshare and/or #BuildnShare18 for your uploads.

    Snap!

Fab entries everyone, lots of inspiration for future builds

@Zita1966z DC FOUNDERS LIBRARY, I really love the design in this build, the roof line just draws the eye, I keep promising to have a play and work out how you did it ;) especially as Its already downloaded and in my game! so thank you.

@VanillaChai Library and Cafe, super building and I love how you got a cafe included, I love the exterior mix of brick and wood and the double height window/columns, its added to my favorites for my next downloading spree

@lisa17ann Curtis Community Library, I am still in awe that the roof looks like an open book! such a clever idea and executed really well, the books out front are also clever, this is another favorite, Thanks

@Issabella14 Pyramid of Knowledge, HOW ! How did you get such perfect pyramids ? I love the enlarged fossils, the internal clutter and comfort, is so neatly balanced, its an amazing build, a firm favorite !

@pammiechick Curtis Heritage Library, I love the Curtis portrait and plaque detail, nice landscaping to the front and very comfortable furnishings inside, I like how you've used carpet, as it deadens sound which in a library is a very good thing! it also makes it really cosy for Sims to relax with a book.

@folala The Third Tower of Wisdom, is a gorgeous build, the roof really sets it apart from other builds, I love the Lamp in the tower!the whole building has got a real light and bright feel to it. daft question, how do you get the books to display ?

@misscbong Curtis Millienium Library, I love the striking modern exterior, I like how the desks blend into the library and that some are separated by glass screens, another one to download me thinks!

@gmcrozier Curtis Memorial Library, I love the exterior, and how it blends with the neighborhood, inside I think my favourite part is the bright story time area for the children, a really lovely idea, the fact there lots of colour is really cool! and idea I will steal one day ( if you don't mind)

@masajo Curtis Community Library, is a great building both inside and out, it really packs a lot in, my favorite parts are the childrens area and the cafe/bar I like the open feel and the fact floors are stone, this library would suit a hot climate, as it would feel so comfy and cool to be inside with a good book!

@kezflake D.C.III Central Library, I love it! seeing as you have used my 2 favouite colours, green and white & how grand and impressive the outside of this library is its also going in my game lol, the roof & the columns and blocks of colour with the simple lights are just wonderful, I also love the internal balcony design and the internal garden area for the children.

@benlow11 Curtis Public Library, I love the shape of your building and the outdoor rear exterior is super ( I love symmetrical placements lol ) great bright children s areas and pops of colour throughout make this a lovely libaray for our sims to visit! I like your rest room design too!

I hope I've not missed anyone out!
Going to read about the next challenge now!

Thanks @Liziann1 & not a daft question or if it is I'm daft too - I didn't know this two weeks ago, but the display books are in the debug catalogue. I was putting in the 'bb.showhiddenobjects' cheat & looking in the filter tab on the right but only a small amount of things came up but you have to type 'debug' in the search bar on the left after entering the cheat & then a whole world of stuff pops up!
