The Sims 4 Marketing Team Seems to miss the mark.

I dont know about you
But from what I gather...
Gamers from 1970s-1990s seem to change with Gamers of 2005+
why? you ask?
is the different trends of life and how nowadays games are in the plentiful compared to back then
Imagine and think to yourself for a moment.
Back in 1998 or 1999 if a kid gets a Gameboy
He/she will be over the top of the world and cherish their game like its a part of their soul
cherish their game system as if it was their boyfriend/girlfriend.
they will idolize their game system and game
and continue to idolize the series and game...
as such thats how loyalty forms to certain series like Pokemon, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and etc.

But if you look at the trend of nowadays kids..
Im not being judgemental or being an old fuddy duddy
im just pointing out that many kids seem to get easily bored of their game and move on to the next.
Give a child a 3DS and he will cherish and love it, but as soon as "NEW" 3DSL comes out.
He'll be expecting the newer one and just forget the old one he/she had.
And even more newer trends are the playthroughs and Lets Plays
where some kids just watch other people pllay and comment
rather than experiencing it firsthand.

E.g. The Last of Us.
I have a 13 year old cousin
whom instead of playing The Last of Us or Call of Duty
spends his days sitting infront of youtube watching other people play
and at the end of it all he says "I Finished that game. its easy"
...

And I facepalm myself.

And not just him but his friends
and some of my lil brother's friends aswell..
and I kind of have this belief that many kids nowadays have a much shorter attention span on gaming
and on playing games...
They dont appreciate it as much as we oldies do.
It may seem somewhat judgemental and/or offensive to make such a claim
But.. I dont know any other way to explain it.
They get easily bored and give up to move onto the next game as soon as he/she can

I mean while its respectful that The Sims 4 is marketted to "Tweens"
they seem to make the game seem more 11 year old - 12 year old oriented
I mean what of the 15-16 year olds?
and the young adults and adults that grow up with this game

Sims 1 and 2 is like ... one of the greatest thing we experienced in our young lives.
and comparing Sims 1 and 2 to Sims 4 in terms of gameplay and "Gameplay-wise"
its apparent that Sims 1 and 2 is much darker in nature
and not seeming like a childish version of it.
Remember when we had to deal with creepy Tragic Clown and/or Social Bunny
Did the Sims 3 and Sims 4(so far) have anything as creepy as that?
and you often have to burn the picture of Tragic Clown to banish him
and see him writhe in pain..

WHAT OF THOSE?!

or that story where Nervous Subject is adopted and tortured through experiments by the Beakers?!

come on...

that kind of deep, dark parts of the game is what makes The Sims soo much more appealing.

and the ratings for games have changed alot...
everything is overly sensitive now.
Back in the 90s you see alot of kids playing Quake as if its a kid's game
nowadays The Sims 4's teen rating seems more like a
"PG13 rating" or "G for generally anyone including 8 year olds"

...

And maybe that is why I became bored with the TS3 sims themselves, and TS4 period. You are right. There was an element of darkness and dark humor to TS1 and TS2 but was and is missing in TS3 and 4. HMMMMM. Maybe EA should think about tossing in some dark humor, as the juvenile stuff we have now is not very engaging!

Don't forget the Obsessed Fan from S1:Superstar.
