I also own The Sims (console) which is currently somewhere in our attic, SimCity 2000 (brought off Origin for free) and SimCity 4 which my sister gave to me.
It's a long list featuring 38 games (I could be wrong since I'm bad at counting
) and I expect a lot more people with long lists as well so come along and share what Sims games you own and play.
My name is Joseph, please don't call me Joe or Joey.
Yours sincerely,
Joseph

Yes, I've given a lot of money to Maxis/EA over the years
I feel like you were definitely EA's target audience. You really had no experience with the great previous Sims games in the main series, thus you had nothing to compare Sims 4 to. Add on top of that you have played the mobile game, EA would praise the heavens if everyone only had the Sims exposure you have had.
You should try out the other Sims games, they are fantastic and I think you would enjoy them, especially Sims 2!

I could but looking at it I don't really like the graphics. I know it was a different time of animation for the Sims, but I prefer the way it is now. there is a reason I skipped the first two games and the graphics quality of the sims was that reason. I wanted to get into the sims 3 but yeah i had to uninstall. When I came back around to buying it myself I heard the Sims 4 was coming so I decided to wait. and here i am.
It's who I am, I'm interested in graphic detail, I can agree the Sims 4 could use more detail. Maybe it's for the best, I don't want the burdened and have my heart filled with rage like others have here against the Sims 4. I'm willing start fresh.
My Mood:
Man you are missing out on so much. Sims 2 sims has the best animations of the entire series, none of the games since then have surpasses them.

Sims 3 Supernatural
Sims 3 Late Night
Sims 3 Generations

Sims 4 Outdoor Retreat
Something like that ..
Sims 2: I bought everything but Pets (Unleashed for TS1 kind of put me off having animals in the game forever) and the holiday pack, though I now have both thanks to the UC.
Sims 3: Starter pack (base game + late night + HELS), Ambitions, WA, Supernatural, University, Generations, Seasons. One of the SPs was given away free but I never installed it because I didn't care about it. And I uninstalled Seasons because I didn't like it ( blasphemy, I know!). I only played TS3 for a few months, in anticipation of TS4 coming out. But...
Sims 4: None. Haven't seen anything to make me think this will be better than TS2. So I went back to that game. :)
The Sims 2 All EPs/SPs - Playing it often, the gem of the franchise.
The Sims 3 All EPs/SPs - Playing it most of the time, my favorite specially after years of tweaking and overhauling it.
The Sims 4 - Played 34 hours. The end.
The Sims Medieval - Played it quite a bit, was a nice spin-off but the charm wore off rather quickly.
All of them currently installed except for Medieval.
Sims 2 + all EPs, SPs, and store items
Sims 2 Castaway
Sims 3 + all EPs + All SPs - Katey Perry + some store items.
Sims 3 Medieval + SP
Sims 4
SimCity
SimCity 4 Double Deluxe
SimCity Societies
SimCity for the iPaq (anyone remember those?)
All Sims 1 console games.
All Sims 2 console games + Castaway on PSP too
3 Sims 3 iPad games.
