OK going on the assumption above that my Origin account may have been hacked and flagged I looked back and saw failed purchases around XMas for an item I did not want or try to purchase. So I changed password and added phone auth, then tried to contact Origin about this.<br />
    <br />
It won't give me any contact choices UNLESS I set my location as outside the US (Canada/UK is fine) .. difficulty: I am in the US. I have never even had a passport! It may be time to give up.

Yeah I had quite a few failed attempts in december for games I did not buy as well. I am chatting with origin again to see if i can get this straightened out.

Thanks everyone for your advice and for commiserating with me today! I am not proud of myself for venting so much. I'm working on whining less and trying to be a better problem solver but this triggered me because I only have today and tomorrow to play, ha.

@Jarsie9 - I couldn't find a downloadable gift card for $25, unfortunately. I looked on walmart.com, target.com, bestbuy.com, and amazon. @MeteoraStorm - I also browsed cdkeys but wasn't sure how it worked since it was in GBP and not American. Then again, I have been really impatient today and didn't look hard enough! Thank you for the tip, though, and glad it worked for many of you!

Ultimately, I ended up finding the downloadable game pack from GameStop online! I did not get a discount but I just redeemed my code within Origin and am downloading it as we speak. I HOPE that helps some of you who are having issues with waiting for EA/Origin to pull through.

    > Hope it works for you BekahBlitz , I'm about to give up. I spent hours on the phone yesterday and all I got was a usless 15% off code. $3.00 for a whole day of frustration. Send me through a pile of steps where I had to reboot the computer and when I had done all that i got a message saying they figured I left because I wasn't responding! So live chat was ended (smoke is still coming out of my ears)

That's what happened to me last not - they thought I left but I was waiting on them because the rep said he would "be right back to check with the higher up team." So I waited and waited and then chat was ended. SO frustrating and I feel for you!! I am glad you got a discount, though. That might help if you end up buying one of the downloadable gift cards and are taxed on it. Let us know what you end up doing! I'm really glad that GameStop online had it available to buy & download!

I got an email about 30 minutes after I finished speaking to someone saying they have closed this case for now and I can reach them through the help center. What does that mean? I am livid right now, and I can not buy a cash card as I live in Canada.

Don't give up on purchasing at GameStop online!! I'm FINALLY playing right now and am really excited. I bought the game on their site and they sent me a code to redeem on Origin. MY CARD WORKED FINE!! Take that, Origin customer service!!

Make sure you go to GameSTOP and not SPOT (I keep mixing it up).

I ended up speaking to someone on the phone(vs chat) who was very helpful, so hopefully they can get it fixed soon. I checked out GameSpot and I couldn't find anything on there, but thanks for the suggestion.

I tried to purchase this pack and it keeps giving me error 10048. I decided to sit through a chat, and they told me that it's "stuck" and that I should try again in 24 hours. I replied that it's not stuck, it says failed in my history and it never even lets me get to the part where I log into my paypal. I give up. If they can't make their website actually work so I can give them money for something then they clearly don't really want my money. There's not even an option for me to e-mail someone, I just have to do chat or wait around for someone to call me. Sorry, but I don't have the time or motivation to do that much work for a video game. Give me an option to e-mail someone, or fix your stuff. Until then, I'll just play and spend my money on other games.

@fadedNovelty Others have gotten that very same line. What I am noticing that some people who are having this problem has had their Origin account hacked into. (Myself included) Check your order history and see if there are any unauthorized purchases or failed purchases. I am curious if there is a connection or not.

My account was hacked, but the purchases all failed, so i made it so i get text and warnings if my account is in use. I also deleted all my card and paypal info on it. BUT now it's me actually trying to buy something from EA! and it doesn't work. I've been trying to buy since 8am two days ago and I still can't. Whats going on EA??? Don't you guys want my hard earned money? I guess not.

Hey @kipperfan01‌ , make sure you're at GameSTOP.com (not Spot like I incorrectly typed in my last post). It's available to purchase online! I'm really loving all of the DLC so far and so excited.

Hopefully GameSTOP will continue to make future expansion & game packs available as they are now. I have no desire to deal with Origin's drama and trying to get them to correct something they seemingly have no interest in fixing.

I was in fact hacked around christmas time. I mentioned this to the origin person I chatted with and they pretty much ignored it.

It's been over 24 hours since my issue was sent to a "specialist" at EA and I am still waiting on a response. I am not holding my breathe that I will get the issue resolved anytime soon.

@kamb1403 I know the feeling, yesterday I was told try in 24 hours, so I did same problem. I phoned customer service, I checked with my bank now problems there, I've even got cash in my paypal wallet and still can't make a payment.

Origin Customer Service we'll escalate it. I told them people have been getting told that for a couple of days now. Like you I'm not holding my breath for this to be resolved.

@SimGuruBChick, who do we contact to try to get EA Cash Cards made available in other countries? As this is getting to the stage where I'm not wanting to give EA any of my money again.

I would be very uneasy using a debit card that had been hacked. I had my debit and credit cards physically stolen last year and the first thing I did was cancel them all with the various banks and get new ones and pin numbers. Has anyone done this? How many other websites do you use the same password for that the card could be used for?
  • altad1altad1 Posts: 1,091 Member
I haven't used the card that had been hacked, and yes I contacted my bank re this. I always have different passwords to sites that I use it's also a good idea to change passwords regularly.

I had this problem. Failure after failure on my PC with Error 10048, however, today I tried it on my laptop (I have Sims 4 installed there too) and the payment went through with no problem. So, same Origin account but different computers which makes me think that the problem is with Origin and not Paypal or anything else. I think now that deleting and reinstalling Origin might have fixed it for me instead of having to resort to dusting off the laptop.

The problem is that the Origin account may have been hacked and EA/Origin have stopped all payments being made on the Origin account - it has nothing to do with the credit/debit cards or Paypal.

This, I was told yesterday to leave it 24 hours, but today the advisor I spoke to said to leave it at least 48 hours, although he said he would leave it for a few days. If you try to make a purchase when your account is locked it adds to the amount of time it takes to unlock!

He also sent me a list of payment methods that could be used instead of Debit/Credit cards or Paypal, so I think I may try one of them in the future.

I'm over in Australia - I thought I could try the Gamestop Digital Download tip (from BekahBlitz) but the darn thing said that Digital Download Content is for people with American addresses. :*(
No way of getting the game over here - like most others, I tried Paypal, everything under the sun to log in and out, reinstall et cetera with Origin, used different browser etc. No such luck. Tried Hubby's debit card, no luck as well.
My Origin account was hacked last year - around June - with that blasted FIFA game. Sooooooo.....
Anyone whose account has been hacked but able to purchase and download the Game Pack? *curious*

I have had this issue for over a year now. I couldn't purchase anything at all from Origin. When you contact Origin they just tell you to keep trying, they are not interested whatsoever in helping you. I usually buy games from amazon but it looks like I can't do that with Outdoor Retreat. I guess I'll just have to go back to playing Sims 3.

At Game Stop: Digital products can only be billed to an address in the United States :'(

    I was hacked on:
    19/1/14
    2/3/14
    28/4/14
    3/5/14
    23/5/14
    14/6/14
    for Fifa 14 and Watch_dogs

So I can't buy anything since June 2014.

I haven't been hacked and -touch wood- I never will be. Could it be because I'm living in Finland and using a UK credit card? I can't see as that would cause a problem though. I use my card on other sites no problem.

@Kaylen34 I didn't think I was hacked until after reading this thread. When I checked my purchase history, I noticed that someone had tried to purchase FIFA 15 on my account in December 2014. It wasn't until others had said to check purchase history that I found out.

I have spoken to EA/Origin again today as it has been nearly 48 hours since I originally contacted them. I have been told it will take 48 hours only for the specialist team to respond. I am hoping against hope that they remove their block and that I can buy the game pack.

As a precaution, I have turned on the login verification and changed my password to ensure that no-one can buy anything on my account. I think the reason why I may have been hacked originally is due to having my PSN account linked to my Origin account.
