Bars, Clubs, and Lounges?

I know there are differences, but with the limited number of community lots (without editing lot types), wouldn't it make more sense to combine these into one and have other buildings?

Having worked in bars, pubs, lounges, and restaurants and having visited many nightclubs, I can see a lot of overlap. I would rather have one bar/club/lounge and have other community lots that are not redundant, right?

Don't make too much sense in these forums OP; the truth is not appreciated.

The bar is more of a traditional bar -- only things you do there is talk and drink, maybe watch some TV. Looking forward to getting things like pool tables or dartboards back in the game so I can do some remodeling.

Lounges and nightclubs both provide places for performing (for Sims in the Entertainment careers); used to be the lounge was geared more toward elder Sims but they toned that down in the most recent patch. I have seen a few more adults/young adults there. The lounge has a bit more of an upscale feel than does the nightclub, but the nightclub has the piano while the lounge has the violin.

I can see the subtle distinctions between the three types of venue, but I basically agree with the OP. Given the small range of community lot types, and the shortage of lots, three different venue types for the sole purpose of socialising and entertainment seems a bit much to me. And, in my opinion, libraries and museums/art galleries are hardly worth the space they take up either. Add to that the whole loading screen issue and the fact that we cannot play the sims left at home when visiting a community lot, and I think twice about doing so. I generally keep my sims at home as much as possible and rather invite other sims over, or host a social event when I want them to socialise.

I went so far as to bulldoze the lounge and the nightclub (some nice residential properties there now) and only kept the Rattlesnake Bar and then altered the bar and added a microphone and a selection of instruments, except the piano (which is too 🐸🐸🐸🐸 big - am hoping we get an upright one). This leaves me with only one entertainment lot in the entire world.

As an aside, I also bulldozed the Oasis Springs gym - keep all them smellies in one place, eh?

Clearly you haven't seen SoHo. There are so many bars and clubs just on a few streets.
