I just started this challenge and I love it. My sim was able to get the $500 in two days. I had her mooching off some guys she met-- The Elements from the gallery. She would go over and use their shower, sleep on their couch and make food. The bed was what I bought first. I just had her able to make a enclosed bathroom. Then a bed and toilet. She moved in one of the guys she got involved with. They both are tech gurus and use the library a lot to save $ for now. They just got a three room enclosure now. It just has still the bed, fridge, shower and toilet. That's where I quit. So not deep in, but I like it. It's like a legacy but doesn't force me to have ten generations or keep points on things I don't want to!
I'm loving the heck out of this challenge. My family is currently up to around §60,000 and still going strong. My founder has quit his job to become a full time writer and currently making about §7,000 per day.
I influenced Pinstar to start one up as well and he's loving it!

I love this challenge. I'm recording it for my youtube channel (simtastic40) and it's SO MUCH fun. My sims only have 30k so far, but they're getting there. I think I may get one of them to quit their job to paint from home.
My sims have had their first kid- -Eli! I am trying to expand my horizons in the game. So each generations is going to do a different career. The spouses are going to do the same career, but different branches.
So my original sim Quinn is in the tech guru career in the Start Up Entrepreneur Branch. Her husband, Wyatt, is at level 6 tech guru and will be joining the Gamer branch.
I have not decided yet which their sun Eli will do, but he will do one side and his eventual wife the other!

Adding a challenge to the challenge ... I like this idea. I had not thought of having couples do different branches of the same career.
Good job on your progress.
The December 2014 Patch has presented a few challenges for many players.
Instead of starting over it is perfectly acceptable and highly recommended to take action to repair your game so you can continue to play.
Some Careers and Aspirations Goals have been tweaked by the patch.
The best way to overcome this is to Quit the Job and Rejoin that or another career.
Aspirations can also be changes during game play to optimize Satisfaction Points.
Some of the traits also got nerfed in the Dec 16th patch - Never Weary in particular got stomped into the ground (without any adjustment in cost to match the loss of functionality). It now provides only 50% reduction to energy loss, instead of no energy loss - so you still need to sleep at least every second night.
What is your impression of using the mod that restores that trait to its original behaviour?
@Lasielle It is unfortunate that some of the adjustments were unexpected. To keep the gameplay fair I would not endorse that type of mod for this challenge.
Fair enough - I was exceedingly frustrated at having the points I'd spent on the trait just before the patch hit immediately turned into wasted points (it takes a reasonable amount of effort to earn 4k to begin with - and when that was the first trait purchased there are now other *much* better options to spend 4k on initially). I wasn't all that far in (only played a Sim week), so I decided to start over instead of feeling frustrated that my sim's purchased traits had been crippled on me.
A couple of questions to clarify rules: * If you do start with 2 sims, can those two marry without having built a bed/room yet (since it's not moving in a new sim, but romancing the pair of sims that started out together)? * Is there any restriction on changing jobs (after the initial 500 simoleons have been earned, of course)? Can they immediately change to another career path after joining one path?
Starting with a fresh couple:
Yes you can marry when you like. Even make them a married couple in CAS unless you like the courting part.
Careers:
After the initial qualifier is met you may change careers as often as you like.
Sorry about the first round. Hope this one goes better for you.
It is so far...doing most of the soulmate aspiration on both sims on the first day nets about 1,800 simoleons from selling the date rewards to begin with, and unlocks enough aspiration points to get the Connections trait on both sims...
Then applying for every job gets all the level 2/3/4 rewards and another 24k, so I was sitting with a fully furnished beginner house and 8k simoleons left in the bank by midday of the second day. That's why I thought I'd check that it wasn't actually breaking any rules...as it turned out to be an insanely effective starting ploy. :-D
Nice job! I miss playing right now! Haven't had access to my computer and won't until Sunday. I am in the middle of this challenge and a room challenge that I would love to get back to!

Sounds like a pretty good starting strategy to me.
So I'm rotating play between too many challnages. I finally got back to this one tonight, I've not moved anyone in that isn't part of the family, so it was just the founder her souse and their twin boys, now YA married and expecting both of them. Tonight I just lost the elders, both of them just minutes apart! I didn't know that was even possible, the wife went first was only a day older than hubby, I guess he just didn't want to go on without her, and before Grim was even on the lot he was waving goodbye also.
Total income so far for the challenge is 185,617/1,000,000. Not too bad for the first gen and half of the second.
Started with a pair of young adult sims with the Fabulously Weathy aspiration for the bonus trait and good/likes outdoors/foodie traits for the buffs. Changed them to the Soulmate aspiration once they were in the game.
Got them paired up and married within the first day or so, sold the date rewards and bought the Connections trait on both. Changed them to Bestselling Authors, applied for every job on each leaving Author until last so that they continued in the Author career.
Wrote lots of books. Bought supporting traits as points became available. Changed their aspiration between Cooking/Fortune/Collecting periodically for additional points. Started working on Painter aspiration too when they'd completed the Author one.
Invested in the expensive beds for reduced sleep time.
When they became adults, they were already about 40% of the way to Rosebud, and had both completed Fabulously Wealthy. Got them both the fertility trait, and had a set of twins followed by a set of triplets. The babies were aged to teen immediately, then worked on getting enough points for their Connections trait before aging them up to adults. The twins went to school once, but the triplets never did - wrote excuse notes & took vacation days for them instead.
Two of the children became Painters. Two started working towards the gaming career (but never got that far - the challenge ended before they got the career branch choice promotion). One became another author. All 5 applied for all careers, with their intended career being applied for last. Some of the excess 2/3/4 career items got sold, but every inspiration or focus generating object was kept and used.
The challenge ended with the initial 2 sims still having 6 days remaining before they aged into elders...
I tried to attach screenshots, but I'm apparently not allowed to post images or links in the forum yet.

Not bad at all. Congrats on your progress. @Lasielle Way to go! Interesting strategy. I will have to give that a go my next time around.
