Your WIP is looking great! It is great that your play testing is going well and that sims are enjoying visiting your lot. It looks great how you have placed the trees. The exterior of the new buildings look very nice! The roofing looks great! It is great that you have the gondola in the build. It looks nice how you have done the pond.
Thanks Rose. I was wondering... do you think I should destruct the large church and and put two buildings in that space instead? I could make one of them a tiny 'country' church instead since basically it just needs enough space for sims to get married. What do you think?
I would love to hear opinions from others too :-)

Your idea of having two buildings instead of the larger Church and having a smaller "country" Church sounds great! It would be good either way though. I will look forward to seeing what you decide to do and for your next update
Thanks Rose. I'm so torn. Sometimes I think the church looks out of scale since the other buildings on the lot are quite small. Then I started on the inside of the church and the proportions worked well for what I included. I even messed around with creating a pipe organ (will take a screenshot next time I'm in game). Here is where I almost wish I had TS4 - could have made the church a room and saved it for future use. I'm holding off purchasing since I visited the forums and am not sure I want to participate. Some of those posts are pretty mean.
Am thinking I'll save a copy of the lot as backup and tear down the church to build something smaller. A pity since I wanted to use that lovely large window from the set. Ah well... no worries. Death came by to visit when I was play-testing the canals today. Poor lady begged and begged but he was not swayed. My tester sim is still depressed even though I don't think she knew the townie, lol.

Aw thanks @pinkish, @bekkasan and @Yanti68. I can't wait to wrap the buildings up and finish the insides and exterior lighting so I can get started on decorating as a festival lot. Am looking forward to the last part since I never did that before

The build is looking very nice! I am sorry that a townie passed away whilst your tester sim was testing your build. It will be very nice whichever way you decide, whether to keep the larger Church or have a smaller one. I hope you have fun decorating it as a festival lot when you get to that stage.
But the church looks so lovely. And churches do often look out of scale compared to the other houses around them. Well maybe not every church, but the Kölner Dom for example is way more out of proportion:
The Knick knack store looks very nice! It looks great how have done the windowed dormer! The items on the shelves outside the shop and the flowers in the pots there look great for the type of store.
The churches that you have posted/linked pictures to are so very nice! @awellenbl
Thanks for your continued support @rosemow
So nice of you to drop by @PsychoChick966. Thanks @awellenbl, I really appreciate your thoughtful input. So very nice of you to make the extra effort to find pictures. So... I kept the church. Forgot to take a pic of the exterior before I exited but will do next time. I've modified the exterior wall patterns to chop it up a bit so it doesn't look quite as blocky from the side view. Also added some trees to break it away from the other pieces and I think it can work. As you can see from the pics below, the size is not that big at all so it has an intimate feel inside. Also included some pics of my 'pipe organ' that I promised. Best I could do without CC which I don't use in my lots. Wishing everyone a great day tomorrow

Wow this looks unbeliebably amazing. The lot would probably be fantastic without the church as well. And I do understand what you meant, but the inside of the church is absolutely fantastic. It would be too sad if it wasn't there. That is some great creative work you did to create the pipe organ. It looks really convincing and adds so much atmosphere.
The inside of the Church looks very nice! It looks so very nice how you have created the pipe organ! It looks very great! The type of windows that you have used for the Church looks very nice and suits well the type of building. It is great that you are using the big window in the build too. It looks nice how you have set up the chairs for the wedding guests to sit on and watch the wedding ceremony taking place. It is great that you are keeping the Church as you originally built it!
OMG Paula, I am like jaw in the floor amazed by your artistry skills here, this is one heck of a project you took on and it has turned out perfectly so far, I for one can\t wait to see the end results. This will get an RDF from me I can promise you, and I am super hyped to get in here to investigate, so please take all the time you need to complete this masterpiece, as I won\t be happy til you are happy with it I just love the atmosphere this is giving off, it is so realistic and storybook all in one, I am so giddy to get in there lol..............squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I own every basegame, EP, GP, SP and kits for all sims, ie.., sims 1, 2, 3 and 4
I am a sims 3 Store Owner Thanks to all my Amazing friends here, and I do own all store stuff from sims 2 as well!
Your Christmas Village is looking spectacular, really getting me in the spirit of the season. Quaint, detailed, and packed full of things for sims to do! Great work!
Check out my cooking Youtube channel: Living with Leigh
this looks incredible, so much detail. i especially like the way you made the pip organ..is that the neon lights set in the movie SP dresser? that is terrific.
Hi everyone, thanks for your patience and the supportive comments. Will be responding individually later but wanted to give you a little update.
I think the exterior lights are pretty much all done now. Also created the final building at the back left of the lot. I've left some blank spaces to use for the themed activities for the festival version. The outdoor eating area can be converted if desired to put the hot air balloon instead of the bonfire.

Your WIP is looks very nice! It is a nice picture of your build at night time with the lighting on. The new building at the back on the left hand side of the build looks very nice! It looks nice how it is surrounded by water. It looks great how you have used columns there. The layout of the build looks great!
Am now starting to work on the interiors and fine-tune the buildings one by one. No CC or CAP however I'm having lots of fun using items from the store. The game usually substitutes items for the closest match for anyone who doesn't have the relevant store items so I think this should be OK. The first one up is the Bakery and Tea room. Downstairs is the bakery area which anyone with the set can make functioning if they wish. Upstairs is the tea room. I probably will convert one of the tea tables to a regular table to ensure the recolours go with the lot so can be cloned if needed.

And that picture isn't very good. And that is of course one of the biggest churches around. So it's maybe not the best example. Here is a picture showing Hannover actually decorated for Christmas:
hannover.de/var/storage/images/media/01-data-neu/bilder/hmtg/erlebnispakete/panorama/weihnachtsmarkt-altstadt/6957375-1-ger-DE/Weihnachtsmarkt-Altstadt_image_full.jpg
And I think that is more of an average size church.
